Outfits Under $50

I’m always on the lookout for a good bargain.  Most of my scores are found at my favorite spots like Marshall’s, T.J. Maxx and Ross but I will shop anywhere at anytime as long as it has the right fit.  Lately I’ve been noticing that a lot of my outfits have been ranging from about $50-$100 so I decided to share my top 5 under $50 and next month $100. To start things off I decided to go with my latest buy a chambray top from Walmart.  I already have a bunch of chambray tops (one with polka dots, one with florals and a thick dark denim one that I sometimes use as a little jacket) so I wasn’t looking to buy more.  However, I walked by the  clearance rack at Walmart and spotted this light weight studded chambray top for $9 and I had to have it.  At $9 it’s got all the right details, a studded collar that I love, tab sleeves and the fabric is light enough to wear all year. Thinking it would be great to wear as a beach cover up… I have lots of plans for it but this time I wanted to pair it up with a mini and my brown sandals.  Not bad for an entire outfit under $50. 🙂

What I’m Wearing:

Chambray Top – $9 at Walmart

Mini Skirt – $7.99 at Ross
Sandals (also seen here) – $24.99 from a local boutique
Necklace – $5 from a Brooklyn boutique wish I could remember the name of the store
Clutch c/o meet mark
Bracelet c/o Twisted SIlver

Sassybax Convert-A-Skirt For Day & Night

A little black dress is a closet staple but a little black dress that’s also a skirt and minimizes my waist and midriff is just genius!  When I first got the Sassybax Convert-A-Skirt I immediately worried that it was going to be one of those suffocating fabrics – but it’s not.  Sure it’s snug, but just snug enough to slim all the right spots.  The more you play around with it the better it looks and what totally had me hooked was how when I realized that it held up the “little girls” and we all know that’s not an easy task.  I wouldn’t say I would be able to go braless in it BUT any strapless bra would do (unlike other strapless dresses without support where I have to search high and low for maximum support).   I’m obsessed with this dress!  The fabric is a matte black making it super easy to dress up or down.  It stays put which is important for me because I plan on wearing it on the dance floor and it’s machine washable.  I could go son and on!  It’s the perfect dress to pack on any vacation, for a night out on the town or under a blazer for a sexy office look.   For more info on Sassybax’s Convert A Skirt visit www.sassybax.com

Five Things

The kids have now been on summer break for two whole weeks and keeping me busy but I love it!  It’s amazing having kids in such different age ranges, you literally get to have a little fun doing a little bit of everything.  Just today I took my oldest to buy his girlfriend flowers, then I took Robert to Target to buy Pokemon cards and while I was there bought Joseph some teething rings.  It’s crazy but in the best possible way.

I’ve been looking for a flokati rug for a long time. It’s not that I couldn’t find one; I just couldn’t justify spending more than $20 or $30 for it. While at Walmart I found a decent sized rug for only $19.99!

One of my favorite saying’s is, “it is what it is,” so when I saw this mug at T.J. Maxx for only $2.99 I had to have it!

Maxxinista

Finding a pack of 5 sleeveless onesies for only $7.99 at Marshalls – score! Not for me but a bargain always makes happy! Sleeveless are almost impossible to find at stores.  Look at those chunky arms!

Carters onesies

I love pesto but I’m tired of just tossing it with pasta. This time I added cheese ravioli (it was supposed to be tortellini but they were out), asparagus and sauteed spinach – yummy!

Last week I bought this green dress from Target – it was on clearance for only $16 and I loved it so much I went back and got it in deep rose and then ordered it in black. You can find the dresses here but for some reason there not on sale online.  Either way it’s a great price for a comfy summer dress that you can easily dress up.  I plan on wearing each of them with my new wedges by Steven by Steven Madden.

You can now shop T.J. Maxx online….enough said!  The popular store known for its designer brands for way less has a new e-store www.tjmaxx.com that’s broken down into: Just In, Women, Shoes, Handbags and the Runway categories.  The selection is pretty impressive with TONS of bags, shoes and a vast array of dresses.  I don’t normally shop stores like these online but I’m liking the fact that a lot of the brands that are hard to find in my local stores are easily available online.  Great for shopping for Christmas 🙂  Check out some of my favorite pieces below.

Comfy Tee & White Blazer

I love me a comfy worn in tee!  I snag the unstained ones from my husbands draw and cut off the collar to give it a off the shoulder look.  Normally I switch out of them when I’m going out but my latest tee is sort of a obsession and I wanted to work it into a outfit. I immediately thought of a Chloe Sevigny Copycat I did a few years back and decided to use my white blazer. I love the fresh look the white blazer gives the tee and denim shorts!

What I’m Wearing:

White Blazer – $39 from Tobi.com

Distressed Denim Shorts – $19.99 from American Eagle

Sandals – $24.99 from a local boutique

Bag – $24.99 from T.J. Maxx

Thrift Store Find: Vintage Faux Fur Coat

I’ve always been an avid thrift store shopper and nothing is more exciting than finding something you love on the cheap.  Just the other day my son asked me to take him thrifting and I was SO excited not only because he showed an interest in one of my passions, but also because we were going on a day that offered 50 percent off clothes.  While my son was looking to find what he called “Cosby” type sweaters I hit the women’s clothing section and found a spotted faux fur coat for $16 but I got it $8!  I expected the coat to need some type of tailoring but it fit perfectly and it’s in amazing condition!  I won’t be wearing it too often here in Florida but I now have a super cute coat for my frequent NY visits.

What I’m Wearing:

Vintage Faux Fur Coat – $8 from Local Thrift Store

Mint Green Dress – $7.50 from T.J. Maxx

Pointy Toe Pumps $70 from Yesstyle (also seen here)

I can’t believe Christmas is in 6 days and I also can’t believe that I got all my shopping done in less than five days and even found a few items for myself. 🙂  I was shopping at TJ Maxx and took a quick glance at its clearance section and found this cute floral dress for only $7!! Only in FL can you wear a summer dress in December and still be hot because you threw on a jacket!  Oh and yes I’m suppose to still have my arm in a sling but I refuse to wear it out because it’s hideous! lol

Transitioning Bright Colors Into Fall

Before you know it the fall season will be upon us and truth be told I can’t wait! Some of my favorite colors will back with a full vengeance: Plum, dark shades of blue, classic blacks, wine and sexy shades of red.   But does that mean you have to pack away all the bright pieces you collected all year?  Nope!  Try blending those bright colors with fall’s warmer shades.  For example, try tangerine with brown, yellow with blue, or pull out those cute printed tops and layer with blazers (like the red one below).  And don’t be afraid of letting bright accessories stand out among your new fall favorites.  I’ve never been a fan of being to matchy match… and this fall is the perfect season to put it all out there!

Simple earrings like these are fun and easy to inject color into fall outfits.

Keep your bright tops out and pair them with dark bottoms like corduroys and booties.

I had to throw these booties in the mix…they’re so girly, full of attitude and perfect for fall!

Navy skinny jeans with pink polka dots are a cutesy way to keep your fall tops fun!

Bright arm candy looks effortlessly chic when paired with plum colors.

Bright heels are a sexy no brainer for dresses or pants.

Shrugs are another easy way to transition anything from bright tanks or your favorite summer dresses.

Necklaces, like this bright pink one from meetmark, are a great way to either kick-up that office outfit or inject some fun into your favorite LBD.

Bright suede flats at TJ Maxx for fall – love it!

Don’t put away those printed tanks or tops just yet!  Instead layer them underneath blazers and sweaters (saves money and look stylish).

Sexy Can Be Comfy

I normally save my heels for a night on the town as they simply are not comfy enough for all of the running around I do during the day.  On a whim, I decided to try out these heels from The Jennifer Lopez Collection at Kohls and was pleasantly surprised.  I ran around for about two hours and they’re just as sturdy and comfy as a pair wedges (which I normally wear during the day).  SO glad I decided to give them a try because I love wearing heels to give my casual outfits a sexier touch.  The outfit below is pretty much my day style:  an off the shoulder top with jeggings.

What I’m Wearing

Off the shoulder top c/o Yesstyle (similar version here), leggings from $9.99 at Ross, my FAVORITE sunglasses at the moment  $10 from TJ Maxx, necklace/belt c/o Trendenzas (also seen here), shoes c/o Kohl’s (no longer available), my favorite Balenciaga inspired bag from Belloiris (also seen here) and bangles for only $2.00 on clearance from Forever21 (similar version here)
