Personalize School Uniforms in 123

I’ve never experienced the ease of having any of my kids wear uniforms to school. We’ve always shopped for outfits they liked and added pieces throughout the year. This year, my son Robert has both options, you can wear a uniform or a more personalized form of uniform, which means on one day he can wear his uniform, khakis and a polo, and the next day, wear his polo with his favorite jeans from Target. His school is pretty flexible as long as we follow the guidelines and I have got to be honest, I’ve never been so excited! With all the new stylish back-to-school-apparel and uniforms that can easily be mixed and matched at Target I knew this would be not only fun to shop for but easy AND affordable!

Initially, Robert was hesitant on having to wear a uniform but because of the flexibility the school is offering, he’s able to still express his individual style. We picked a classic navy blue polo, dark wash skinny jeans (which he’s obsessed with), a few button-ups for layering and we even included some of last year’s tees to compliment his outfits. The idea was to have him look ready for school with a stylish, personal touch!

For his first look we kept it simple with his blue polo layered over a striped tee, rolled up skinny jeans (his idea) and slip on sneakers. Doesn’t he look cute?!

In the second fall inspired look, we took a few more back-to-school key pieces from Target and layered his look with a button-up and tee.

With Target’s stylish back-to-school-apparel and newly redesigned “comfy jeans”, Robert can relax knowing that he can still let his stylish side shine even with a uniform. Looks like I now have a shopping buddy for my weekly Target runs!

The ABC's of Looking Cool for Back-To-School

This summer has flown right by us this year. In less than four weeks all of my boys will be headed back to school and it’s never too early to get ready when you have five kids. We’ve already begun getting organized and have a plan to get things done but there are still a few things we need to wrap up and for that we plan on heading to our local Target. I’m already there on a weekly basis running around with a cup of coffee in hand but when back to school season kicks in, all of my boys want to join in on my Target run and I love it!

Robert is going into 5th grade and right now it’s all about having his say in what he wears, what supplies he uses and how cool everything looks. For this I count on Target who makes back-to-school shopping easy and fun for me and my boys. Check out some of our favorite back-to-school items to ensure a cool new start to school.

Licensed characters are a back-to-school must-have for any kid! Robert is a diehard Avengers fan so this year we’ll be snagging all of his favorite items like the Avengers backpack and lunchbox (of course Target also has a huge variety of Star Wars, Frozen and Minions gear to choose from).

Abcs of looking cool for back to school

I try to teach my kids how to style themselves as soon as they know how to dress themselves, but to make their back-to-school selection easier I buy them lots of pieces they can mix and match. Lots of solid color tees that match with anything, button ups for layering and to help transition out of summer shorts I plan on buying Target’s new reinvented stretchy jeans that are now more comfy with a worn in feel. This helps them develop their own sense of style without having to get involved too much.

The ABC's of Looking Cool for Back-To-School

Back-to-school lists are pretty standard: They request a dozen or more notebooks, pens, paper, crayons etc. To make the supplies have a more personal feel, we choose supplies with flair! Look for patterns and colors that pop like a striped notebook and supplies with bright colors.

The ABC's of Looking Cool for Back-To-School

Another thing we do each year is buy a brand new pack of permanent markers and I let the kids go nuts and personalize their stuff with initials and doodles they draw. The idea is to bring a sense of creativity to their back-to-school basics and make it more exciting.

The ABC's of Looking Cool for Back-To-School

This year Target has made it a little easier to do just that with the school list assist – an online destination built specifically to help you find the exact supplies you need and you can then either pick it up at the store (my favorite method) or have it shipped right to your door. It doesn’t get any simpler than that!

What are some of your kids’ must-haves for back-to-school?

One for one for all #TOMS for target

Believe it or not Christmas is almost here! I haven’t really started shopping yet, but I do have a few things that are on my list.  At the top is the #TOMSforTarget new collection that is in stores and online NOW!  It really is in tune with the holiday spirit.  Giving back is exactly what TOMS is known for with its one for one giving model.  The collection will have signature comfy TOMS shoes in stylish designs for both kids and toddlers (hoping they have Joseph’s size), hoodies, a poncho that I’m hoping to get, blankets and even some items for mom’s, dad’s and even items for around the house.

The limited edition collection which is sure to sell out quickly includes 50 products all under $50.  Making it perfectly easy to treat you and your loved ones while giving back at the same time.  In fact, for each #TOMSforTarget purchase, Target will donate a blanket, a meal through the American Red Cross or Canadian Red Cross, or one week of meals through Feeding America or Food Banks Canada. And for every #TOMSforTarget pair of shoes sold, a pair will go to children in need. This has got to be my favorite Target collaborations yet!  The collection is stylish and simple without sacrificing an ounce of quality.

Check out some of my favorite pieces below. Never has looking good been so good for the soul!

Maxi Dress From Day To Night

If there’s one thing I’ve learned this pregnancy it’s that a maxi dress is your best friend.  I’ve always worn them but never have I appreciated them as much as I have these past couple of months.  Besides being the comfiest thing to wear in between sizes, they’re SO versatile and great for post baby as well.  This one from meet mark has been sitting in my closet forever because it was too big but now it’s a real life saver. I LOVE the blue and its lace cap sleeves.  I’ve worn it a ton of times in so many different ways for day and night.  For day I wear it with my green anorak, chain link necklace and my one of my favorite lucky brand bag (which comes in handy to when switching out heels for flats when your feet can’t take it anymore). For night, I just added a sparkly necklace, metallic satchel and took off the jacket.

What I’m Wearing: Blue Maxi Dress c/o meet mark | Green Anorak from Ross (also seen here) | Clear Stone Necklace (also seen here)  $10 from Target| Gold Satchel also seen here – $8.98 from Target.com | Chain Link Necklace c/o Twisted Silver | Animal Print Heels  – $14.99 at Target.com | Bag from Lucky Brand | Timex watch c/o Timex | Penny Wayfarer Sunglasses (also seen here) c/o Stun Sunglasses

Be Yourself, Together #TargetWedding

When I first met my husband he was dressed like he just jumped out of the Delorean in the Back to the Future movie: So 1980’s!  He was wearing a leather jacket with the sleeves rolled up and tight jeans that landed about an inch above his glossy white sneakers. While little ‘ol me was decked out with an eclectic mix of boho and glam pieces selected from a least a dozen second hand shops around the Village. We were complete opposites. But as they say, sometimes opposites attract!

Perhaps that’s why I am so enamored with Target’s Wedding Registry under the theme “Be Yourself, Together,”  which embraces two people joining forces while celebrating their unique individuality to create a beautiful life together.  Target’s wedding registry line is nothing short of inspirational with a huge selection – from traditional picks for the home to fun, non-traditional items –  making it easy and stress free to pick the right gift.

To help interpret Target’s wedding theme, I was asked to pick out two different gifts, that when put together, represented both uniqueness and harmony.  For me, I would get the Panasonic camera to take pictures for my blog and a tent for my husband so we can escape on that camping trip he’s always talking about.   While he is pretending to be on Duck Dynasty I can take pictures for an upcoming post.

Panasonic Lumix Camera

Coleman Flatwoods 4 Person Tent

It doesn’t get better than that! Two gift’s that really can be benefit from one other just like a newlywed couple.  And that is the beauty of Target’s Wedding theme “Be Yourself, Together” and their amazing wedding registry selection.  Follow all the wedding fun by checking out #TargetWedding.

Effortless Stripes

Stripes are my favorite pattern and I’m always looking for ways to incorporate them into my outfits.  It’s such a classic pattern that will never go out of style and I just love the way it gives outfits an effortless laid back feel.  Best of all stripes are super easy to dress up or down and can be worn as an accent in the form of accessories or even shoes.   During the warmer seasons stripe exude a nautical vibe but it’s such a versatile pattern that it can stand on its own in any season and in any color (although my personal fave is basic black and white).  Famous fashionista’s like Olivia Palermo and Kim Kardashian wear stripes flawlessly year after year but you don’t need to break the bank to wear this trend. Check out some cool striped pieces from Target below and how to incorporate them into your spring wardrobe.  Tip:  When shopping for stripes always keep in mind that the smaller the stripe the smaller you look – and that goes for accessories as well.

A striped linen blazer will give any of your basic favorites a polished look.  Wear over a tank or tee with cut off shorts or jeans.

Striped Linen Blazer – $30 | Denim Shorts – $20 | Graphic Tee – $18 | Quilted Cross Body Bag – $19.99 | Thong Sandals – $19.99

Striped tank tops are a must have for every season and style!  I have probably a dozen in tons of colors and styles and I let them peek out underneath tees, sweaters and jackets.

Stripe Cowl Neck Tank – $14.99 | Pleated Maxi Skirt – $20 | Pullover Shrug – $11 | Laverne Flip Flops – $14.99 | Chiffon Crossbody – $26.99 | Straw Fedora – $12.99

I love me a striped skirt!  A casual “Audrey Hepburn” like piece that’s perfect for spring and summer nights.

Stripe Skirt – $19.99 | Lace Top – $17.99 | Stripe Thong Sandal – $19.99 | Envelope Clutch – $19.99

A striped boat neck sweater is the epitome of spring!  Give it a go with bright skinny jeans and heels.

Stripe Boat Neck Sweater – $22.99 | Colored Skinny Jeans– $22.99 | Button Down – $18 | Pointy Toe Pump – $39.99 | Envelope Clutch – $24.99

This peplum and stripe dress is so chic and flattering (click here to see Kourtney Kardashian in a peplum and stripe outfit).  The peplum can help create curves and flatter those who have them while the thin stripes provide all the style.  Pair with a denim jacket and a colored belt for some extra oomph.

Stripe Peplum Dress – $24.99 | Platform Pumps – $29.99 | Satchel – $29.99

Sheer Spring Trend

The sheer trend can be scary for some but I love it when a trend dances on that fine line between sexy, seductive and stylish.  For the most part the sheer trend usually makes brief appearances at special occasions or evening wear, but this season it’s actually hitting the streets.  Personally I love the feminine, airy look it gives skirts, button downs and even pants (for those of you brave enough to give it a try).  I own a few sheer pieces and I’ve found that the easiest way to incorporate it into my outfits is with tops.  They don’t necessarily have to be entirely sheer, but if they are I’ve found that lace tanks and nude camisole work best if you’re wearing it in a more conservative setting.  Check out some of my favorites from Target and how to incorporate them into your outfits.

A tee with sheer sleeves is totally unexpected and an easy way to spruce up  your everyday favorites.  A total spring must have!

Short Sleeve Tee With Sheer Front – $24.99 | Boyfriend Jeans – $24.99 | Prabal Gurung for Target Pumps – $39.99 | Clutch – $19.99

A simple way to wear the sheer trend in a more low key way is with a top like this one by Parabl Gurung for Target.  It’s got all of the spring stylish trends rolled up into one versatile top.  Pair with a pencil skirt, shorts and even jeans – either way you can’t go wrong!

Prabal Gurung for Target Sleeveless Tee  – $26.99 | Ankle Stretch Pants – $17.48 | Silver Pointy Toe Pumps – $29.99 | Clutch – $19.99

This sheer blouse can easily be worn solo with a nude camisole or underneath blazers or sweaters.

Sheer Blouse – $11.48 | A Line Skirt – $22.99 | Color Block Sweater – $19.99 | Peep Toe Heels – $29.99 | Teal Satchel – $69.99

A floaty polka dot top is perfect  to wear left open over a mini dress. Or go monochromatic with a white tank and white bottoms.

Sheer High Low Top – $21.99 | Cami – $8 | Bermuda Shorts – $19.99 | Sandals – $19.99 | Metallic Tote – $25

Purple & Polka Dots

I’m not a huge fan of purple but when I caught a glimpse of the $5 price tag on this dress, I immediately yanked it off the rack.  It was then that I noticed the flecks of sparkle and the POCKETS.  I was in love!  My immediate thought was to pair it with my denim jacket but I thought I’d give it a quirky look by layering it over a polka dot button down and of course a belt (I try to belt just about anything I wear – it’s kinda my thing).   I love the definition and personality the belt gives my outfits.

Spring Dresses

Besides my kids excitement for Easter egg hunts and candy filled baskets, I always try to fit in a little Easter outfit shopping for myself.  The kids generally stick to the traditional themed attire for the day, but for me the Easter outfit consists of a functional dress that allows me look stylish while also participating in the egg hunt and other festivities.  I also try to pick a dress that can be worn all through spring and preferably even summer.  This Easter I’ll be wearing a lace shift dress and flats to keep me comfy all day! Check out some of the pretty spring dresses from Target below that are perfect for Easter.

A dainty lace dress similar to the one I’m wearing above is feminine enough for day or night.

Lace Bodice Dress – $49.99 | Blue Handbag – $19.99 | Pointy Toe Flats – $29.99

This seersucker dress screams spring and is pretty much a no brainer.  It’s sort of a grown up version of a little girls Easter outfits.  🙂 Wear with a light cardigan and pumps for a traditonal spring look.

Sleeveless Seersucker Dress – $29.99 | Quilted Chain Cross Body – $16.99 | Pointy Toe Heels – $29.99

Any dress with pockets is alright with me!  This floral dress for only $24.99 is one of those dresses that can be worn all year round.  It can be paired with a pair of wedges on Easter morning or a blazer and tights for work.

Floral Dress With Pockets – $24.99 | Wedges – $29.99 | Red Satchel – $32.99

A tulip wrap dress with a retro floral print plus a denim jacket is flawless!  Pair with bright heels for a sexy vibe.

Floral Tulip Dress – $25 | Denim Jacket – $29.99 | Strappy Heels – $29.99

Get a celeb worthy look like Naomi Watts’ with this white shift dress.  Shift dresses are so flattering and never ever go out of style.
