Plaid Skirt Two Ways

Summer plaids can be down right flirty and fun if worn with the right pieces.  The idea is to keep it fuss free and a little unconventional.  Pair your plaids with bright colors, bold accessories and ditch your traditional sandals for flat espadrilles or sneaks. I paired the adorable handkerchief hem skirt from with two different blazers.  One is a more nautical look and the other a trendier version.  Both looks can be worn for day or night and easily taken apart and worn many ways. Tip:  avoid tight fits – plaids are meant to be casual and easy to wear even if it’s a dress or skirt.

How The Music Business Spent The Summer Killing Itself

A few weeks back, as I was having dinner with a media-industry colleague at a trendy restaurant in a trendy New York neighborhood, I realized that the music coming over the sound system was transporting me to another time — specifically, 1986. As song after song by various “it” bands of the moment, such as Black Kids and the Virgins, played, it was as if we were listening to a time-warped or parallel-universe version of the “Pretty in Pink” soundtrack. Because really, the “it” sound of the moment would work seamlessly in just about any John Hughes movie circa the mid-’80s.

Summer Chic

The Summer is not just about tanks and shorts anymore. Shorts can make an outfit sexy and laid back. The old ripped and torn look of jean shorts are long gone. Todays shorts are modern and versatile. Where them to the park and change your top for the evening, throw on a chic blouse with a pair of heels and voila…Summer chic. There is no excuse not to look chic in shorts. We have an enormous amount of options available to us. My favorite stores are Top Shop, H&M, and Nordstrom. These stores have all different types of styles and price ranges.
