Summer Shoe Shopping at Famous Footwear

There’s still plenty of hot summer days left and nothing screams summer like a pair of  espadrille’s and I always invest in a nice pair that lasts year after year.  Normally I buy a pair of wedge’s this year however the flat espadrille is all the rave and I love it!!  It takes the casual espadrille to a comfier level without sacrificing any style.  Great practical shoe to pack for a summer getaway and it can be worn in place of sneakers with cut off shorts, dresses or even jeans.

I found these adorable striped espadrille’s at Famous Footwear for only $29.99 but I got them for $25 because I had some saved up some points with their Famous Footwear Rewards program.  I love that they have a reward program because affordable stores like Famous Footwear are a favorite among families and who doesn’t want to get something back and save a few dollars?  I’ve shopped there for years for my family and with prices that low I can be pretty dangerous in there.  I go in for one pair and always come out with two or sometimes even three.

Striped Espadrille – $29.99

While I love my striped espardille’s and certainly did not need another pair of shoes I still took another look around and found these strappy metallic sandals and I gotta say they are pretty fabulous.  I’ve been looking for a metallic pair just like these for a while and they will be perfect to wear with just about all of my summer favorites and for only $29.99 I figured why not!.  I love metallic sandals because you can still dress them up and be comfy making them a must have for summer days or nights.  Check them out below.

Metallic Sandals – $34.99
I received a gift card from the Famous Footwear to purchase shoes of my liking. The opinions expressed herein are those of the author and are not indicative of the opinions or positions of Famous Footwear.

Big Bold Summer Earrings Under $50

With the summer heat comes humidity and if you have long hair then it also brings on the frizz.   While I like my hair to have a slept in look, sometimes it just gets to be too much and I need to pull it up and away from my face.   I clip it up and throw on big pretty earrings.  It’s the one time of year where I style my hair up and I take total advantage of it by swapping out my studs and hoops for bold sparkly earrings.  I look for style that is longer in length rather than width to elongate my neck and with the enormous amount of affordable styles available it’s super easy to splurge and get yourself a new pair for everyday of the week.  Check out some of my favorites under $50.

Celebrity Copycat: Kim Kardashian’s Look for Less!

This Kim Kardashian look for less is an oldie but goodie!  Since I spend most of my days working from home, I’m a big fan of quick ways to spruce up bottoms and tee’s in case I need to run out.  By pairing with a classic black blazer, cute sandals and some of my favorite accessories like a boyfriend watch and aviator sunglasses, you’re good to go in a matter of minutes!

What I’m Wearing

Blazer from Gap (similar version here), asymmetrical tank from Old Navy (no longer available), cargo skinny pant from Buckle (no longer available), Balenciaga inspired bag from Belloiris, sandals from The Jennifer Lopez Collection c/o of Kohl’s (similar version here), Ray-Ban Cats inspired sunglasses c/o Pan Oceanic Group (also seen here & here), gold boyfriend watch c/o meet mark (also seen here)

All About The Accessories

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again…I’m all about accessories (especially pieces that are versatile and good for all seasons!).  From vintage inspirtaional pieces, bangles piled on high, to studded pieces and funky glasses/sunglasses, accessories are the easiest way to add your signature touch to any outfit.

These studded flats from TJ Maxx have tons of personality and will give any outfit an edgy vibe.

Classic mens button down shirt with a simple, inspirational necklace – love it and I too wear tons of inspirational necklaces (as mentioned here).

The Square One ring from Twisted Silver is my absolute favorite. Made from recycled objects, it’s perfectly “imperfect” with a fabulous vintage feel.

Love to see a guy with a crisp white tee, funky glasses and a stack of beaded bracelets – effortless style that won’t go out of style!!

Bangles…and I mean tons of bangles piled on high….are must for any season :)

Statement necklaces like this one from the Kardashian Kollection are easily transitioned from day to night.

A bright clutch will add a pop of stylish color to summer dresses or jeans.

One of my favorite trends this season: booties with shorts.  Wear them all year round for a casually cool look.
This belt can easily pass for vintage and it’s so chic.  Pair with a white button down or cinch it around your favorite dress.

A boyfriend watch is a no brainer and should be in every girl’s jewelry box.

Bold earring for all seasons!

Having a stylish and original wardrobe can help you to turn heads and to stand out from the crowd. Whether it is in the office, on a night out or relaxing at home, it is important to look your best and have clothes that you are comfortable in. Finding and choosing the right wardrobe can be hard though, as there are so many styles and looks to choose from.

High-Quality Clothing

As well as looking sharp, you also want your clothes to feel comfortable and last a long time too. Cheap, poorly designed clothing will deteriorate quickly and will not look good. This is why it is important to invest in some higher quality clothing pieces.

Although high-quality clothing may cost more, it will last you a lifetime and look great too. Choosing brands that you have heard of and know are good quality will help you to have a wardrobe that will last and remain stylish too.

Bold Designs

Being bold is what will make you stand out from the crowd. Wearing bold colours with fresh, original artwork makes a statement. Wearing clothing like this is sure to turn heads.

Whether it is women’s clothing or men’s, you can find loads of great clothing and accessories to complement each other and give you a new look. One brand that has some brilliant, high-quality designs for both men and women is Firetrap.

Over the last 20 years Firetrap has been creating bold and stylish clothes which have been a huge success all around the world. They offer bright, stylish t-shirts with interesting designs, beautiful and unique dresses, well-designed jeans and cool accessories. They are a brand that has a distinctive style and their impressive range will give you a sharp and stylish look.

Seasonal Styles

Another important aspect of fashion is keeping up to date with the seasonal styles. As the weather changes you should change your look so that you are not only practically prepared and warm enough, but so that you also have a stylish look.

As the summer approaches you need to ensure that you have the wardrobe to embrace this time for getting out of the house and soaking up the sun. This summer bright bold colors, stylish shirts, shorts, sandals and sunglasses – will help you get that stylish summer look!

Kohl’s Spring Trends Video Shoot

June 8, 2012 by

A few months ago I was flown out to NY by Glam for an amazing opportunity to participate in a video shoot for Kohl’s spring trends. Not only am I a huge fan of Kohl’s, but just as fun I got to meet Glam’s fashion director Nola (in the middle) and a lot of other fab bloggers that were also invited (see below).  The video of this experience is now up on Kohls.com (click on picture below to watch video).

I’m not going to lie I was soooo nervous throughout the entire process. I’m used to sitting behind a computer and not in front of a camera!  But I have to admit the production staff and Glam team were amazing and it was an experience that I will never forget.

For my part, I was selected to highlight Kohl’s tropical trend theme and tried on tons of clothes from the likes of ELLE, Jennifer Lopez Collection and LC Lauren Conrad.

The first outfit I picked was a fun and flirty dress with stripes by ELLE (I love stripes!), but because I also wanted it to have a transitional look, I paired it with a cardigan from the Jennifer Lopez Collection, a ELLE  belt to accentuate my waist and wedges also from ELLE.

For the second outfit I wanted an easy day-to-night look, so I went with a basic blazer by LC Lauren Conrad, a pretty floral dress from Simply Vera Vera Wang and gold wedges (also seen here) from the Jennifer Lopez Collection.  I dressed up the whole look with a glam necklace by Simply Vera Vera Wang.
