Blazer & Booties

Due in large part to having my new son Joseph, my fashion posts have decreased in quantity – until now.  These boots have me all sorts of inspired!  In my last #ootd I showed you guys how I styled my first pick of boots from DSW.  This time I’m showing off my more casual but equally fabulous and trendy western short booties. I’ve struggled in the past finding a pair of booties like these for a while because they never fit quite right; but these fit like a pair of boots I’ve worn for years.  Best of all they even have that worn-in, vintage look making them perfect for jeans, dresses and even slacks.  They look like all those expensive booties that you see on celebs but for way less (click here to see some of my favorite celeb looks).  I picked the exact opposite style of boots this time for two reasons: One, to highlight the selection of styles that DSW has, and also to fit my extremely eclectic style.

I need to be comfortable.  I have five kids and I’m always on the run, so I tend to grab a blazer and go.  It’s the easiest way to make any outfit instantly polished.  For this look I wanted something that I would wear out to a casual lunch with the family so I grabbed my favorite blazer (you can see it also here and here), black jeggings, and a striped sweater. The boots really make this outfit pop!  I love that the entire look is sort of sleek and the boots give it an effortless almost unfinished look.  To me, that’s what style is all about – combining all the things you love and making them work.  Thanks to DSW for sending me these boots and stay tuned…I have lots of plans for this pair of boots.

Work at Home Style & Balance

November 12, 2013 by

Working from home is definitely a blessing and I can’t really complain about it but there are two very distinct downsides to working where you live especially when you have kids.  The first one is finding the motivation to get up, get dressed and look presentable especially when pregnant and already have 4 kids.  I normally wake up at 6 a.m., start working by 7 and get kids ready and out the door for school by 9.   I show up in just about anything I can get my hands on and lately it’s gotten worse because of the pregnancy. Thank god no one knows what I do for a living because they’d think I was crazy! lol At around noon when I take a break for lunch I muster up the strength and find something cute and presentable to wear.  It really is a bad habit that I constantly need to keep in check.

The second one is knowing when to stop working.  It’s so easy to blur the line between the home life and work life.  It can be midnight and I will remember something I need to do, feel the need to check on a urgent email or find an outfit I want to write about…it never ends and while  I love what I do I need to work on balance

Lately I’ve been trying to take it easy and rest so I’ve been looking up some quick maternity outfits for inspiration and I found a TON.  Hopefully this will help out my morning funk but as far as knowing when to stop working I will have to keep you updated on that one. 🙂  Any tips from work at home moms?  Would love to hear your feedback

Jessica Alba’s outfit are always a favorite of mine.  I’d try this out with flats or ankle booties because I feel like the boots would shorten my already short (and now thick) legs.

Jenna Dewan is probably the prettiest pregnant woman I’ve ever seen!  Her style throughout her pregnancy was flawless and never over the top.

Kourtney Kardashian’s maternity style was always on point!  This look is simple, casual and chic.

Yesstyle Beauty Sample Box Review

If you’re like me and love trying out new beauty brand products then the Yesstyle Beauty Sample Box is for you!  It’s generously sized samples are from luxurious brands such as Laneige and Skin Food.  The samples come in an adorable box perfect to store your new goodies (or makeup) and it’s actually a great gift idea for the beauty lover in your life or a new mom who might need some pampering.  Check out the products below.

Give yourself a mini facial with the three piece sample by GMDANSU.  It contains an herbal mask with sheep placenta, serum and moisturinzing cream.  This was probably my favorite sample – it left my skin SO soft, refreshed and the serum smells amazing!

The Laneige sleeping pack is a night time treatment that’s perfect for those with oily acne prone skin like me.  It’s really unlike most night time moisturizers and again it smells amazing!  I used it a few times and didn’t have any issues with breaking out and that’s a big deal because my skin gets really oily at night and breaks out even more when I’m pregnant.

Skin Food Whitening Gift Set contains toner and emulsion.  Omija herb complex naturally lightens and evens skin tone.

The Juicy Mask Sheets are self explanatory.  I LOVE having tons of different masks handy for those stressful days where my skin needs a little pampering.

This well sized sample of Hot Burning body gel is definitely not enough to help me out so I didn’t give it a great shot but it’s ridiculously refreshing for long days on your feet and like every other product in the box it has a great scent.  Not sure if it will really help my body lines lol but it is One of the best pampering products in the box.

Innisfree Green Tea Serum. The active ingredient of green tea seed locks moisture right next to the skin’s surface, while panthenol and batain boost skin’s natural ability to produce moisture. I decided to give this one a shot before applying my makeup and it worked like a charm!  Smoothes on evenly and dried quickly.

All in all this is a luxurious beauty sample box worth way more than $25 and gives you a months worth of pampering  – I definitely recommend it.  For more information on the products or the beauty box click here.

White Blazer Worn 3 Ways

I bought this white blazer from Tobi on a whim and I always find a different outfit to wear it with.  This time I paired with my new pink skirt.   I spotted this little pink skater skirt for only $5 and knew I wanted to wear it with my white blazer and a cropped top I bought at Ross a few months ago.  I’ve been looking for a colored bottom to wear the crop top with for some time but because it’s a crop top I wanted something higher at the waist and this skirt is perfect!  Check the three different ways I’ve worn my white blazer below.

What I’m Wearing:

White Blazer – $39 from Tobi.com (also seen here & here)

Cropped Top – $7.99 from Ross

Pink Skater Skirt $5 from Papaya

Caged Heels – $30 from a local boutique in Tampa

Clutch (also seen here) c/o meet mark

Earrings c/o meet mark

High-Low Floral Top

For the past  week or so the temp here in Florida has been in the 90’s, but luckily we got a short break from the heat and humidity and it’s an easy breezy 80 outside.  What does sthat mean for me?  For one, it’s the chance to wear something other than shorts and a tank!  I originally bought this floral high-low top to wear  over a white mini dress, but I pulled out my “skinny” skinny jeans and they actually fit…I was so excited that I threw them on instead.

What I’m Wearing:

High-Low Floral Top – $14.99 at Ross

Skinny Jeans – $29.99 at American Eagle

Wedges (also seen here) – $24.99 Local Boutique

Bag c/o Lucky Brand

Necklace c/o meet mark

Bangles $7 at Walmart

Crush Necklace wrapped around my wrist c/o Twisted Silver

I’m not a sun lover and during the colder weather I normally use L’Oreal’s Sublime Bronze self tanning mist for a hint of color, but I try to get a real tan a few times a year and last week I managed to sneak away to the beach for the day.  I’m not as tanned as I’d like to be but it’s definitely an improvement and it looks great with my little white dress, orange blazer and new tan sandals.  🙂

What I’m Wearing:

White Dress c/o Yesstyle

Orange Linen Blazer – $14.99 from Marshall’s

Envelope Clutch c/o Joules

Sandals (also seen here) – $24.99

Necklace c/o meet mark

Belts – $10.99 from Charlotte Russe

White Hot Heels

I’ve always been a bit iffy about white shoes.  Everytime I see a pair I immediately think of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.  🙂  These white heels with a metallic cap toe are however a totally different story and now have me loving white heels.  The metallic (which I’m totally obsessed with for spring) gives the white heels a edgier feel that I love and at only $19.99 how could I resist!  Below is a quick denim on denim look I pulled together and some of my favorite white heels available online (I bought mine at a local Tampa boutique) and under $100.

What I’m Wearing:

White Cap Toe Heels – $19.99 at Local Boutique

Skinny Jeans – $34.99 at Charlotte Russe I LOVE the way their jeans fit!

Floral Chambray Top – $5 at T.J. Maxx (also seen here)

Michelle Valle convertible bag c/o meetmark.com (also seen here)

Vintage Style Ring c/o Fantasy Jewelry Box

Ankle Strap Heels – $94.99 at Heels.com

Laminated White Heels – $49.90 at Zara.com

Pointed High Heels – $75 at ASOS.com

Cuffs & Stuff

I’ve been stacking different types of bangles on my right wrist for as long as I can remember.  The routine is simple: I get dressed, grab a handful of bangles, slide them on and away I go.   But not long ago one of my boys found two leather bracelets while digging through my jewelry and strapped them on my wrist (my little boys are fascinated with the amount of jewelry and shoes I have).

Anyway, I have yet to take them off…I even sleep with them…and now I just pile on cuffs, watches and other leather bracelets that I’ve had for ages but never even worn.  I know this going to sound a bit eccentric but I’ve never liked the way new jewelry, shoes (more boots and sandals) or bags look so most of the time they don’t become a favorite they’re all worn in – which is why I love the leather bracelets so much.  When you pair a somewhat masculine piece to your accessories it has a “I don’t care” accidental style. And that’s what accessorizing is all about.  Check out some pieces below that would perfect for a stylish mom this Mother’s Day.

1. Deco Strap Bracelet | 2. Studded Bracelet | 3. Charm leather Bracelet | 4. Triple Wrap Bracelet | 5. Leather Chainlink Bracelet | 6. Brown Studded Bracelet

Kardashian Kollection Chain Print Dress

Love this Kardahian Kollection dress from Sears!  It was originally $54.99 but it was 30% off so I got it for only $34.99.  I was planning on wearing it without the cardigan and with wedges but I was freezing so I wore it with my cardigan and booties.   I’m pretty sure I’m going to be wearing this dress a lot!  The chain print gives it a expensive look but the fit keeps it flirty and fun. Next time I’m going to try it with leggings and a denim jacket. 🙂

What I’m Wearing:

Wrap Sundress – $34.99 at Sears

Cardigan  (also seen here )

Fringed Booties – $11.99 at Sears

Tote Bag c/o Angela & Roi (also seen here)

Sunglasses $12.50 at Old Navy
