Kate Hudson always looks so chic and it’s never too forced or overly trendy. In this look she gives a a lace top a sexy look by showing off her pretty bra and then paired the top with fun polka dot pants. I chose HM polka dot set that’s perfect for hot summer days where you can wear alone with the camisole and sandals.

Formal Dresses for Spring

Going to a formal lunch event, a wedding or any other special occasion? Finding the right outfits, either wedding or mother of the bride outfits, can be tricky.  Check out these three dresses by Jaques Vert for inspiration that will hopefully make it easier for you to decide on your outfit.

This Eucalyptus sleeveless dress is softly cut in a smart shift shape with a shaped scoop neck. It is the perfect dress for a horce racing day or when going to a formal lunch event. The fabulous satin banding creates a matt and shine effect resulting in a timeless look.

Combine the dress with natural make up and crème high heels. In terms of accessories, go for a soft pink colour as this blends in perfectly with the eucalyptus colour. If soft pink isn’t your colour then opt for black. A black blazer would certainly give the outfit a more edgy look.

This shimmering textured shift dress comes in a powder puff and spot print. With contrast waist piping to ensure a feminine line, it’s sleeveless with a scoop neck featuring a stunning neckline that adds soft shape. The polka dot is timeless and when incorporated well, creates a trendy yet chic look.

Combine the dress with a natural basis but don’t be afraid to try red lipstick with this outfit. With polka dots you should always be careful with accessorise otherwise it may become too much. So if you want to accessorize your outfit, opt for neutral colours and small jewellery. The dress would go great with a light purple coloured jacket or bolero because the polka dots are purple as well.

The floral prints on this dress are presented in bright colours giving the dress a very distinct look. The draping of the dress creates a sexy décolleté and it is therefore recommended to wear this dress to an event or wedding party. The dress has a back zip and is also fully lined.

Try finding similar pink colours to blend in with your make up and don’t be afraid to use many jewellery pieces to accessorise the dress. A silver chunky necklace would be a great fit. Also, this dress goes well with a pair of black high heels and can also be worn with a denim jacket for less formal occasions.

Planning for Prom Night

February 13, 2012 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

Prom night is one of the biggest events of the year, and planning for the perfect prom can take months. All the prep work is worth it, though, when you have a magical night, one that you will look back on for years and smile. Follow these tips, and you’ll have a night to remember!

The Dress

Other than your date, your prom dress is probably going to cause you the most stress. You want to look perfect, so start looking for your dress well in advance, even if you don’t have a date yet. If you wait until the last minute, you might end up with a dress that’s not quite what you wanted.

Most stores start stocking prom dresses in January, and the best ones will be snatched up quickly. Try on several dresses in different colors and styles – something that you hate on the rack might look amazing on you, and vice versa. Flip through magazines to see what you like, or take inspiration from a favorite movie or TV show.

If you want something truly original, though, look beyond the department stores and formal shops. Scour the racks at vintage and thrift stores. You might find the perfect, unique dress and score a bargain at the same time.

Don’t forget about tailoring. Spending a few extra dollars to get a dress shortened or taken in can take a dress from “blah” to “wow!”

The Accessories

Accessories can make a so-so dress look amazing. Skip the dyed-to-match shoes and choose a blingy sandal instead. Remember that you’re going to be standing around taking pictures and having dinner, so pick something comfortable that you can walk in and dance in. Consider buying a pair of comfy ballet-type flats to stash in your purse; formalwear stores often sell flats that roll up to fit in small bags.

The prom is no place for the giant bag you carry every day. Instead, look for a clutch or evening purse that coordinates with your dress. It should be big enough to carry some cash, your phone and some emergency extras.

While you’re shopping for your dress, think about the jewelry that you want to wear. Diamonds (real or fake) will go with any dress, but try some more unusual pieces, too. Again, vintage and secondhand stores often stock antique costume jewelry that’s perfect for the prom.

The Details

Other than your wedding, the prom is one of the few times in your life when you can go all out with prom hairstyles, makeup and nails. Start your prep a few months in advance. Make appointments for hair, makeup and nails at least two months before the prom – popular salons book up fast. Ask the salon about prom packages. Some offer deals when you get multiple services.

If your dress is strapless, short or sleeveless, think about adding a little extra color to your skin for the big night. Tanning beds aren’t healthy (and you might not even be allowed to use one), so think about getting a spray tan a few days before the prom. Just go a shade or two darker – you don’t want to look like an extra from “Jersey Shore.”

Other details to handle in advance? Tickets – make sure you get them – and transportation. A limo is the most popular choice, and when you’ve got a big group, it’s cost-effective. Like everything else, book well in advance, and be sure to budget for a tip for the driver. If you plan to go out to dinner before the event, make those reservations as well.

Finally, make post-prom plans. Chances are, someone is having an after-party, or you can make plans with your friends to go eat (you’ll be hungry after all that dancing!), or just hang out and watch movies.

Whether you’re a senior enjoying the final days of high school, or a sophomore who was lucky enough to get an invitation, prom is often the highlight of the year. Spend some time planning and taking care of the details beforehand, and your prom can be everything you want it to be.

Kourtney Kardashian In Hype Apparel

Kim and Kourtney ran into a little trouble on the road while filming their hit reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Leave it to the stylish sisters to be dressed to the nines and get a flat tire on one of the trendiest streets in Los Angeles. Kourtney turns the sidewalk to the catwalk wearing the Cherokee Dress from Hype Apparel. Kourtney paired the Hype frock with black tights, a blazer and eye popping blue Christian Louboutins (not a big fan of this color with the outfit ..or the shoes for that matter…but hey, that’s just me). The Hype collection focuses on pieces that easily transition from day to night, and combines a mix of classic bodies with bold prints and flirty, feminine fabrics. The Cherokee print is a hit in Hollywood with fans such as Ali Fedotowsky who was seen sporting the print in the Cherokee Skirt. Check out the Hype Collection at www.hypestyle.com
