My One of a Kind Shopping Style

The Diet Dr Pepper One Of A Kind Style Sweepstakes is on and to help celebrate the kickoff this time I decided to highlight my personal way of shopping.  My love for shopping is like an art form and the way I shop has really defined my one of a kind style. I shop clearance aisles first and when I spot something I like it has to meet a certain criteria – like the ability to be worn at least two different ways and be easily worn for day or night (I have a tendency to “build” outfits piece by piece).  Also, while the new arrivals that are placed right smack in the front of the store may be the easiest choice, it can also leave you looking like everyone else.  Sure, It can be challenging and at times frustrating but it’s what sets my outfits apart from others. Another habit of mine is to mix and match high-end pieces with affordable finds that will get me the most wear. For the most part when I see something on the rack I can envision what I’ll be wearing it with before I even walk out the door…and those are the pieces I wear to death and the pieces that make my style one of a kind.

Just last weekend I went shopping for some spring shoes and I knew I wanted booties.  At first I was looking for a black and brown pair, but then I saw this tan suede pair with a gold platform and they were only $20!  Right away I knew that they’d be perfect to dress up or down so I snagged them right away.  The first outfit I wore them with a pair of mint green skinny jeans, a simple white tee, a boyfriend blazer  and a polka dot scarf.  For my second outfit  I wore the booties with my go-to skirt and a chambray top.  I love the way it gives the black skirt a more laid back look without taking away the dressy part. This particular outfit was under $100 and I’ve worn each piece a ton of different ways.

Not bad for a pair of booties that cost only $20!  Check out some of my other day to night looks below.

Striped Dress for Day or Night

Polka Dot Skirt for Day or Night

I’ve had this lightweight anorak from Marshall’s for about 3 years and every fall I pull it out and finds tons of new ways to wear it,  I think it cost me only about $20 and this baby never goes out of style (it’s my “other denim jacket”).  Check out what I wore it with below and similar options as well.

What I’m wearing: Anorak from Ross (similar options below), skinny jeans from H&M, asymmetrical tank from Old Navy (also seen here), scarf from American Eagle, vintage multi strand necklace and the dark crystal inspired Compass necklace from Twisted Silver (available October 24), aviator sunglasses from Ross.

Movie Night!

I bought these studded flats by Steve Madden from TJ Maxx (seen here) last week and decided to wear them out to the movies…but I was going out afterwards so I paired the flats with a little black dress and a denim cropped jacket.  Such an easy day to night outfit!  After the movies I just swapped out the flats for platforms (also seen here), removed the denim jacket and pulled out a studded clutch from my bag.

What I’m Wearing

Cropped denim jacket from American Eagle (similar version here), LBD dress for only $10 from Marshalls, studded flats by  Steve Madden only $50 from TJ Maxx, Michelle Valle convertible bag c/o meetmark.com, platform wedges c/o Shoeprivee (also seen here), studded oversized clutch c/o Yesstyle (no longer available), bracelets are a mix of vintage and ones I bought from Francesca’s Collection and Charlotte Russe.
