Having versatile pieces in my wardrobe is a crucial part of making my morning school day routines run smooth.See some of my favorite pieces below.
What are your favorite go to pieces in your closet?
I have hundreds of pair of shoes! I’m such a shoe freak that if I happen to find shoes that I absolutely love, I buy multiple pairs. My particular weakness has always been boots – whether high heeled boots, riding boots, or even cowboy boots – because they make any outfit ooze the perfect rough and tumble vibe. To say that I was super excited to not only work with DSW again (you can see my last post here) but also be sent two pair of boots of my choice would be an understatement!
Picking a pair of boots that I liked was easy; narrowing it down to two was a little tough because DSW has an enormous selection of styles. I wanted a little bit of a challenge, so I chose two completely different looks. For my first pick, I went with a pair of high heel boots. I loved the fact that they had the perfect combo of sexy with its sky-high heels but also edgy with a buckle, quilt and rubber soles. The details are definitely on point! When I first put them on I was a little skeptical about the heel being SO high. I’m pretty comfortable in heels but sometimes they can be slippery and hard to walk in – that was not the case with these boots. The rubber soles kept them solid and the platform made them comfy and easy to walk in.
I decided to pair the booties with a little black dress, tights to add warmth and texture and a favorite oversized cardigan for a cozy touch. This is something I would wear on a chilly night out to dinner with the girls or even on a date night. It’s super comfy, stylish and sexy. Stay tuned to see my next pair of boots and how I styled them!

Dressing your post baby body can be a bit overwhelming but dressing up and standing in front of the camera in a outfit is just down right traumatic! I’ve made a pact with myself I’m forcing myself in front of the camera and wearing items that are already sitting in my closet (with the help of lots and of layers of spanx lol) in the hopes that it will motivate me away from my laptop and onto to the treadmill. I dont want to lose too much I just want to get rid of the belly my biggest pet peeve when getting dressed. This specific dress that I bought for 5 bucks at Marshalls has some pleating in the front which helps conceal the pooch. I decided to wear it for Mother’s Day when I realized that it fit me. It was a tad big on me before and now it fits me perfectly…. talk about taking the good with the bad! I love the dress but hate that it fits. 🙂
What I’m Wearing: Dress – $5 from Marshall’s (also seen here) | Boyfriend Blazer – $39.99 from Target (also seen here), Green Belt – $6 from Target (see how I worked it into another outfit here) | Striped Pumps – $29.99 from Forever21.com | Lexington Watch by Michael Kors from ShopBop.com (also seen here
I’ve never really set up any New Year resolutions but I do like to start off the new year with a style touch-up and workout gear to help motivate me to lose some holiday weight. This year it’s going to start out a little late because of my bump but I’ve already got my eye on some new workout gear to get me pumped for all the hard work I have ahead of me. Famous Footwear has great timing because they’ve challenged me to a “look for less” post featuring one of their affordable stylish sneaks.
I chose the
Two affordable casual looks to get your stylish new year started!
If there’s one thing I’ve learned this pregnancy it’s that a maxi dress is your best friend. I’ve always worn them but never have I appreciated them as much as I have these past couple of months. Besides being the comfiest thing to wear in between sizes, they’re SO versatile and great for post baby as well. This one from meet mark has been sitting in my closet forever because it was too big but now it’s a real life saver. I LOVE the blue and its lace cap sleeves. I’ve worn it a ton of times in so many different ways for day and night. For day I wear it with my green anorak, chain link necklace and my one of my favorite lucky brand bag (which comes in handy to when switching out heels for flats when your feet can’t take it anymore). For night, I just added a sparkly necklace, metallic satchel and took off the jacket.
What I’m Wearing: Blue Maxi Dress c/o
This look screams chic! I love the way the usually conservative Reese Witherspoon spruced up her look with red pumps and a matching belt – love love love love it! Lots of pieces that can be mixed and matched and styled a ton of different ways.
When it comes to bathing suits I need to have variety because they’re worn year round here in Florida. For the most part it’s nice to be able to strolll on the beach any time of the year, but it can be a bit exhausting thinking about being bathing suit ready ALL YEAR! With that in mind I treat my bathing suits like I do my clothes. I look for trends and fits that flatter, rather than the itsy bitsy bikini (although I do keep one handy for those days I’m feeling brave) and I also keep an eye out for pieces that can be mixed and matched. This year
Color Blocking: A trendy color block bikini with just the right amount of coverage! Tip: Tie a large bright scarf off your beach bag and later on you can use it as a shrug.
Classics: A navy bikini is always in style and a must have for mixing and macthing. Tip: When mix and matching swimsuit pieces opt for a solid bottom. It’s a lot easier to wear a printed top than bottom.
Retro: A floral print tankini is perfect for stylish moms on the go. Tip: Keep a cotton cardigan on hand if you plan on making it a whole day at the beach.
Stylish: A embellished one piece swimsuit screams glamour! It’s the bathing suit you take on your vacation and then sit by the pool and sip on a pina colada! 🙂
“For every two minutes of glamour, there are eight hours of hard work.” I happened to see this quote by Jessica SavitchIand and it’s so true – especially in what I do as a fashion blogger and stay at home mom. While I have all the essentials to quickly pull together a quick look, there’s lots of times where I barely make it out of my house in fold over yoga pants (it’s a huge no-no, I know, but it is what is!). Here’s the thing: while I don’t always dress very glamorous I refuse to leave the house without lipgloss and mascara. Weird? Sure. But I think it’s perfectly okay to give yourself a break and wear black yoga pants, a black tank, flip flops, fab lipgloss, mascara and still feel beautiful. Last week I was sent some makeup samples by Roxanne Alaimo-Esdailes and Mark Cohen, who launched an online venture called bffcosmetix.com. First of all I’m a sucker for cute packaging (which it comes in) and a crafty motto ( “b fun, b fresh, b fearless, just b”). The product line includes lipgloss, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and blush to name a few, and right now they are only charging a $1 promotional price for the lipgloss! I found the colors bold and the quality high. My favorites were the Red Hottie and Glisten Up but the 7 colors are available for only $6. Like everyone else, I too had a ton of gift returns to make and wearing comfy clothes for the long lines was a must. I decided to wear the denim leggings I found at Ross that I love (dont judge they’re super cute lol) and I threw on a pink tank and polka dot cardigan over it with a cobalt blue crossbody bag that coincidentally matched my nails. Oh and I just had to wear my new watch that meet mark sent for me to review – it’s PERFECT!
