Celebrity Copycat: Hilary Duff’s Look for Less!

I love the way Hillary Duff dresses and I don’t think she’s given enough credit for her style.  She’s famous and has access to top designers but she always manages to keep a good balance between classic, trendy and sexy.  Best of all she has a girl next door style that is refreshing and relatable.  Here’s a great example: edgy leather pants toned down with a chambray top and booties. Stylish, sexy and perfect for a young mom.

Kinda loving Eva’s look!  The denim pencil skirt is a nice alternative to jeans and just as comfy (not to mention a great transitional piece for fall with tights).  I personally would keep the top a little sexier with a tank, an off the shoulder top or even a cropped one.  Check out Eva Mendes look for less with pieces from Forever 21, Target, maurice’s & more!

Floral Top – $18 at Forever21.com

Denim Pencil Skirt – $25 at Oldnavy.com

Tote – $30 at Target.com

What was your fashion background prior to Project Runway?

I’ve always been an artist for as far back as I can remember.  I’m a self-taught designer and before Project Runway I worked as a set designer for TV and as a fashion stylist.

How have things changed for you after Project Runway?

My world has changed because of my experience on Runway.  I’m, now, able to work full-time as a fashion designer instead of it being just a hobby.  My Christopher Straub for maurices Collection is an absolute “Dream come true” and it may not have been possible if not for Project Runway.

What inspires your designs?

I find my inspirations from nature and it drives my creativity.  Flowers, stones, ripples in water…whatever…it sparks something inside me.

Who’s your favorite designer?

My all-time favorite designer is the late Alexander McQueen.  He was a fashion genius who took risks and challenged the limits of the female form.

How to Win the $50 maurices Gift Card:

Head on over to maurices and pick your favorite piece from Christopher’s new line. Head on back to Fashiongrail and leave a comment on your pick.  For extra entries tweet the contest and tell us below that you did (tweet as many times as you want, each tweet counts as an extra entry) One random winner will be chosen on December 11.  Maurice will ship gift card directly to winner. Disclosure: maurices provided me a gift card.
