Sassybax Convert-A-Skirt For Day & Night

A little black dress is a closet staple but a little black dress that’s also a skirt and minimizes my waist and midriff is just genius!  When I first got the Sassybax Convert-A-Skirt I immediately worried that it was going to be one of those suffocating fabrics – but it’s not.  Sure it’s snug, but just snug enough to slim all the right spots.  The more you play around with it the better it looks and what totally had me hooked was how when I realized that it held up the “little girls” and we all know that’s not an easy task.  I wouldn’t say I would be able to go braless in it BUT any strapless bra would do (unlike other strapless dresses without support where I have to search high and low for maximum support).   I’m obsessed with this dress!  The fabric is a matte black making it super easy to dress up or down.  It stays put which is important for me because I plan on wearing it on the dance floor and it’s machine washable.  I could go son and on!  It’s the perfect dress to pack on any vacation, for a night out on the town or under a blazer for a sexy office look.   For more info on Sassybax’s Convert A Skirt visit www.sassybax.com

The Formula: Denim Jacket

~ The Formula: Denim Jacket ~

Still one of my favorite dresses.

Whenever I want to look pulled together but not too dressy I throw on a denim jacket.  I’ve had this dress from Ross for years and I’ve worn it solo during the summer, with sweaters and tights when it’s cold but my favorite is with denim.  I was originally going to wear my deeper blue Levi’s jacket (seen here) but I thought the distressed one from American Eagle went way better with the boho vibe. Tip:  If you’re lucky enough to get casual Friday’s at work, a denim jacket is an easy replacement for a suit or blazer and you can wear it with any skirt or pants.

What I’m Wearing:

Dress $14.99 from Ross

Forever Young

To me, beauty is literally skin deep and I believe that everything you put inside your body will reflect outwards. My beauty routine always starts in the kitchen, and the products I use play a supporting role in keeping my skin looking polished. In today’s hectic working-mom world, my routine also has to be simple and quick; and the products I use have to provide maximum impact. Below is my routine in keeping my look fresh and hopefully forever young.Forever Young Beauty Roputine

I Literally Veg Out

I try to make sure that when I sit down and eat that my plate has a lot of veggies. Not only are they healthy, but they’re proven wrinkle reducers. A typical meal will include a boiled egg over a bed of spinach and grilled chicken.

Water

If I don’t drink a minimum of 8-10 cups of  water a day my skin will immediately look dull. It’s the best thing you can do for your skin and it’s also the easiest and cheapest. I don’t necessarily like to drink water, so I carry a stylish flask and pretty cup to make it more of a treat (and I add fresh lemon or lime). Any fruit will work but the lemon and lime help burn calories – bonus!

Makeup

I never leave the house without blush and mascara. The eyes are the window to the soul and I want my eyes to look bright, happy and ready to conquer the day; it’s like coffee for the eyes. I apply three coats of mascara concentrating on the outer lashes. The blush application is equally important because I like a “no-makeup” look – so I apply it to only my apple cheeks as opposed to up and out towards my ears like we’ve all been taught.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is probably the most important part of any skin care routine because it allows the skin to better absorb any moisturizer you use. Every night after  I remove my makeup I exfoliate.  I take a small bowl and add 4 tablespoons of regular white sugar and mix it with two tablespoons of water and mix until it is a thick paste and scrub it on my face in a circular motion.

Moisturize

My skin tends to get oily and it’s prone to acne so I’m really picky when choosing a moisturizer. Lately I’ve been using Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting  Cream  (I bought mine at Walgreens for only $26) that helps the appearance of lines, boosts hydration and brightens your skin. It’s amazing!  I apply it generously at night after I exfoliate and since I started using  it the fine lines have been less noticeable and my face looks visibly smoother, fresh and actually a bit younger. It’s become one of my must-have beauty products in my daily routine.

I love an outfit that manages to incorporate sweat pants and still be chic like Naya Rivera’s, especially now while I try to lose some weight.  Nothing too complicated here just some good ol’ sweats, sleek sneaks and fab accessories.  SO easy to duplicate on the cheap and so easy to even give it a sexy makeover by adding some pumps a tanks and a casual blazer  Check it out below

Lace Maternity Dress

I’ve been searching high and low for a dress to wear on New Year’s Eve and it hasn’t been the easiest task.  Sure they’re tons of cute maternity dresses but they never ever seem to fit me the way I want them to.  They’re always too lose at the bottom giving it a tent like look.  I understand the purpose of the fit and I’m all about the comfort but when it comes to just wanting to look and feel normal for one night and snap some pics it just doesn’t work for me.  In comes Pink Blush maternity who graciously sent me a beautiful burgundy lace dress that not only fits me perfectly but it also has three quarter sleeves, a flattering must and a good amount of stretch for comfort. I literally did the happy dance when I opened the package.  The burgundy color gives the affordable dress a luxurious look that would be perfect with any of my heels once I have the baby and can fit back into them.  Check it out below and make sure to check back next week where I will style the other adorable piece that they sent me.

I’ve been pretty busy moving and getting radjusting to my new house.  I haven’t been able to take any photos of outfits and its been raining for about two weeks straight but I’ve been trying to snap some pics.  Check out some of my Instagram shots below

In the middle of a food run for the hungry movers I found this striped piggy at Walmart and had to have it!

Even though I didn’t do any major lifting I still needed a break. 🙂

Here’s William with his new guitar.  I still remember when he was three how he would wake up every morning put on his Shrek cd, grab his little guitar and sing his heart out.  🙂

One of the very first things I hung was my favorite metallic mirror.

It’s been raining on and off for almost two weeks…I love it and I also love the new view from my backyard.

During the move I happen to find a box of old shoes and in it were my gold metallic flats that I’ve been looking for.  YAY! 🙂

Hope everyone has a fun Fourth of July!

White Blazer Worn 3 Ways

I bought this white blazer from Tobi on a whim and I always find a different outfit to wear it with.  This time I paired with my new pink skirt.   I spotted this little pink skater skirt for only $5 and knew I wanted to wear it with my white blazer and a cropped top I bought at Ross a few months ago.  I’ve been looking for a colored bottom to wear the crop top with for some time but because it’s a crop top I wanted something higher at the waist and this skirt is perfect!  Check the three different ways I’ve worn my white blazer below.

What I’m Wearing:

White Blazer – $39 from Tobi.com (also seen here & here)

Cropped Top – $7.99 from Ross

Pink Skater Skirt $5 from Papaya

Caged Heels – $30 from a local boutique in Tampa

Rebecca Minkoff Ragini Slide Sandals

When it comes to summer heels I like them to have a casual feel but still give me the sexy height.  For the most part wedges do the trick, but sometimes I want a little more oomph and while looking around for a pair to wear all summer I found these Ragini Slide Sandals by Rebecca Minkoff and I instantly fell in love!  What I like about this pair is that they manage to have every single detail that I was looking for: the wooden stacked heel is comfy and has the casual look I wanted, the ankle strap is dainty and the gold trim glams it up.  I’m definitely going to be wearing these babies a whole lot!

What I’m Wearing:

Dress – $24.99 at Forever 21

Denim Jacket (also seen here) – $39.99 at American Eagle

Belts (also seen here) – $10.99 at Charlotte Russe

Summer Ready Skin With Walgreens & Night at the W

I’m on a first name basis with the beauty consultant at Walgreens (Brenda) and have been for quite a few years. She’s always so helpful and quick to point out any new products that I might like. So when I was asked to review some Neutrogena products I was so excited! Brenda knows I love me my mascara and the fact that I go through an enormous amount, so as soon as I asked her which Neutrogena products she would recommend her immediate response was the NEUTROGENA® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes.  I then told her that with the summer heat starting to get a bit intense my current eyeliner was smudging way too easily – so she recommended NEUTROGENA® Nourishing Eyeliner  (and because she knows me so well she grabbed Neutrogena’s new revitalizing lip balm as well).

The NEUTROGENA® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes are amazing! I wish I could have gotten the tub but they were out so I got the refill pack instead. Because I have sensitive eyes, I buy tons of cleansing towelettes and most other products are dry and scratchy.  These were so soft and it slid my makeup right off which is important for me because I use a lot of mascara.  The towelettes did the job!  They were strong enough to remove it all but sensitive enough for my eyes.

When Neutrogena says its eyeliner won’t fade boy do they mean it!  I really put the NEUTROGENA® Nourishing Eyeliner to the test.  I did my usual cat eye and it glided so effortlessly that it made my usual clumsy job look flawless! Then I headed out for a night of dancing and it lasted all night even through my sweating. 🙂

The NEUTROGENA® Revitalizing Lip Balm was probably my favorite item and I’m so happy Brenda pointed it out.  It’s got all the bells and whistles wrapped into one handy lip balm: it leaves my lips soft, has a slight tint and is SPF 20 (which is a must for me all year round).  I’m hooked!

I usually try to keep myself to a monthly visit to Walgreens because I can be dangerous in there and also because I like to accumulate as many points on my Walgreens balance rewards card.  I think I have a good $10 or $15 dollars on it right now which I plan on using for my next trip there for the Night at the W.  The Night at the W at Walgreens is the ultimate in-store event.  It provides a chance for ladies to speak directly with a Walgreens specially trained beauty advisor about facial skin care and cosmetics. The event will also give consumers an opportunity to get great deals on Neutrogena facial skin care and towelettes and free samples (while supplies last) AND customers will have an opportunity to enter the Night at the W “Expect the Unexpected” sweepstakes when they purchase participating Neutrogena products (qualifying products listed below).

ONE GRAND PRIZE winner will receive trip for two (2) to Arizona, five (5) nights’ accommodations at Amara Hotel, Restaurant, and Spa. This fabulous retreat includes breakfast at the hotel daily, ground transportation, a $1,000 allowance for spa treatments and dinner at Cucina Rustica.  FIFTY (50) FIRST PRIZE winners will receive a $50 Walgreens gift card.  TEN (10) SECOND PRIZE winners will receive A NEUTROGENA® gift basket

The sweepstakes begin May 22, 2013 at 12:00AM Eastern Time and ends on May 29, 2013 at 11:59PM ET.  Entrants only accepted at the Night at the W event
