Outfits Under $50

I’m always on the lookout for a good bargain.  Most of my scores are found at my favorite spots like Marshall’s, T.J. Maxx and Ross but I will shop anywhere at anytime as long as it has the right fit.  Lately I’ve been noticing that a lot of my outfits have been ranging from about $50-$100 so I decided to share my top 5 under $50 and next month $100. To start things off I decided to go with my latest buy a chambray top from Walmart.  I already have a bunch of chambray tops (one with polka dots, one with florals and a thick dark denim one that I sometimes use as a little jacket) so I wasn’t looking to buy more.  However, I walked by the  clearance rack at Walmart and spotted this light weight studded chambray top for $9 and I had to have it.  At $9 it’s got all the right details, a studded collar that I love, tab sleeves and the fabric is light enough to wear all year. Thinking it would be great to wear as a beach cover up… I have lots of plans for it but this time I wanted to pair it up with a mini and my brown sandals.  Not bad for an entire outfit under $50. 🙂

What I’m Wearing:

Chambray Top – $9 at Walmart

Mini Skirt – $7.99 at Ross
Sandals (also seen here) – $24.99 from a local boutique
Necklace – $5 from a Brooklyn boutique wish I could remember the name of the store
Clutch c/o meet mark
Bracelet c/o Twisted SIlver

Sassybax Convert-A-Skirt For Day & Night

A little black dress is a closet staple but a little black dress that’s also a skirt and minimizes my waist and midriff is just genius!  When I first got the Sassybax Convert-A-Skirt I immediately worried that it was going to be one of those suffocating fabrics – but it’s not.  Sure it’s snug, but just snug enough to slim all the right spots.  The more you play around with it the better it looks and what totally had me hooked was how when I realized that it held up the “little girls” and we all know that’s not an easy task.  I wouldn’t say I would be able to go braless in it BUT any strapless bra would do (unlike other strapless dresses without support where I have to search high and low for maximum support).   I’m obsessed with this dress!  The fabric is a matte black making it super easy to dress up or down.  It stays put which is important for me because I plan on wearing it on the dance floor and it’s machine washable.  I could go son and on!  It’s the perfect dress to pack on any vacation, for a night out on the town or under a blazer for a sexy office look.   For more info on Sassybax’s Convert A Skirt visit www.sassybax.com

The Formula: Denim Jacket

~ The Formula: Denim Jacket ~

Still one of my favorite dresses.

Whenever I want to look pulled together but not too dressy I throw on a denim jacket.  I’ve had this dress from Ross for years and I’ve worn it solo during the summer, with sweaters and tights when it’s cold but my favorite is with denim.  I was originally going to wear my deeper blue Levi’s jacket (seen here) but I thought the distressed one from American Eagle went way better with the boho vibe. Tip:  If you’re lucky enough to get casual Friday’s at work, a denim jacket is an easy replacement for a suit or blazer and you can wear it with any skirt or pants.

What I’m Wearing:

Dress $14.99 from Ross

Distresses Denim Jacket  $39.99 from American Eagle (also seen here)

Crossbody Bag c/o meet mark

Bangles/cuff $12.99 from Macy’s

Blazer & Booties

Blazer & Booties

Due in large part to having my new son Joseph, my fashion posts have decreased in quantity – until now.  These boots have me all sorts of inspired!  In my last #ootd I showed you guys how I styled my first pick of boots from DSW.  This time I’m showing off my more casual but equally fabulous and trendy western short booties. I’ve struggled in the past finding a pair of booties like these for a while because they never fit quite right; but these fit like a pair of boots I’ve worn for years.  Best of all they even have that worn-in, vintage look making them perfect for jeans, dresses and even slacks.  They look like all those expensive booties that you see on celebs but for way less (click here to see some of my favorite celeb looks).  I picked the exact opposite style of boots this time for two reasons: One, to highlight the selection of styles that DSW has, and also to fit my extremely eclectic style.

I need to be comfortable.  I have five kids and I’m always on the run, so I tend to grab a blazer and go.  It’s the easiest way to make any outfit instantly polished.  For this look I wanted something that I would wear out to a casual lunch with the family so I grabbed my favorite blazer (you can see it also here and here), black jeggings, and a striped sweater. The boots really make this outfit pop!  I love that the entire look is sort of sleek and the boots give it an effortless almost unfinished look.  To me, that’s what style is all about – combining all the things you love and making them work.  Thanks to DSW for sending me these boots and stay tuned…I have lots of plans for this pair of boots.

Quilted Black Booties & Tights

Quilted Black Booties & Tights

I have hundreds of pair of shoes!  I’m such a shoe freak that if I happen to find shoes that I absolutely love, I buy multiple pairs.  My particular weakness has always been boots – whether high heeled boots, riding boots, or even cowboy boots – because they make any outfit ooze the perfect rough and tumble vibe.  To say that I was super excited to not only work with DSW again (you can see my last post here) but also be sent two pair of boots of my choice would be an understatement!

Picking a pair of boots that I liked was easy; narrowing it down to two was a little tough because DSW has an enormous selection of styles.  I wanted a little bit of a challenge, so I chose two completely different looks.  For my first pick, I went with a pair of high heel boots.  I loved the fact that they had the perfect combo of sexy with its sky-high heels but also edgy with a buckle, quilt and rubber soles.  The details are definitely on point!  When I first put them on I was a little skeptical about the heel being SO high.  I’m pretty comfortable in heels but sometimes they can be slippery and hard to walk in – that was not the case with these boots.  The rubber soles kept them solid and the platform made them comfy and easy to walk in.

I decided to pair the booties with a little black dress, tights to add warmth and texture and a favorite oversized cardigan for a cozy touch.  This is something I would wear on a chilly night out to dinner with the girls or even on a date night. It’s super comfy, stylish and sexy.  Stay tuned to see my next pair of boots and how I styled them!

Leopard Heels Three Ways

If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw the pictures of me debating which pair of shoes to buy while out shopping at DSW. Well, I decided on the leopard print heels (like many of you suggested) and since the weather has finally begun to get a tad cooler down here in Florida and it was perfect timing for me to style my new favorite pair of shoes from DSW! I was so excited when I was offered the opportunity to not only choose a pair of shoes of my liking but to also style them three different ways for fall. Picking one pair was super hard because DSW has an enormous amount of shoes and boots to pick from, but I decided to step away from boots (my weakness) and instead go with these leopard heels  to give my fall outfits a sexy touch. The leopard print is a perfect addition to my fall outfits and I came up with so many looks I had a hard time picking just three.
My first look is perfect for a day of shopping. I kept it simple with boyfriend jeans and sweater but the heels made the outfit pop!

Leopard Heels Three Ways

For a date night look I went with all black. This outfit can easily be worn for a lot of my upcoming holiday events.

Leopard Heels Three Ways

In my third and favorite look I wore a long sleeve mini dress and an army green vest. It’s perfect for a casual weekend or even a casual day at work with some tights.

Leopard Heels Three Ways

How would you style these leopard print beauties for fall?

Five Things

With five boys it’s easy to get lost in the mix so I always try to find little things just for myself. Nothing major – it can be a handful of sunflowers from my local Publix or a drive alone to Starbucks. Every little bit helps so I decided to share them weekly.

Bring Every Room Back To Ready

It's Hard To Make A Difference When You Can't Find The Keys
This was life changing! I read about this tip on Pinterest from the book It’s Hard to Make a Difference When You Can’t Find Your Keys by Marilyn Paul. Brining your room back to ready sounds like no brainer advice  because It’s a known fact: Clutter causes stress; order creates a haven from it but sometimes we let the chaos take control. This mood-boosting routine is really simple: Take about three minutes to bring each room back to “ready” before you depart it. This doesn’t really sound like a treat but walking into a neat room when you have 5 kids is beyond therapeutic for me and I actually look forward to it every night before bed.

Roses

Did you know June 12 was National Rose Day? I sure didn’t! Anyway, I don’t necessarily need that as an excuse to buy myself a rose. I dread going food shopping so I always treat myself to a rose for my bed stand.

Blender Bottle

Sometimes those impulse buys are the BEST! I was checking out at my local TJ Maxx and saw this cool looking blender bottle for smoothies (or formula in a pinch) and it’s amazing – mixes within seconds!

A brand new bottle of tide with downy! I swear I love Tide so much that if I got it as a birthday present I’d be a happy camper.

What I Wore On Mother’s Day

Dressing your post baby body can be a bit overwhelming but dressing up and standing in front of the camera in a outfit is just down right traumatic! I’ve made a pact with myself I’m forcing myself in front of the camera and wearing items that are already sitting in my closet (with the help of lots and of layers of spanx lol) in the hopes that it will motivate me away from my laptop and onto to the treadmill. I dont want to lose too much I just want to get rid of the belly my biggest pet peeve when getting dressed.  This specific dress that I bought for 5 bucks at Marshalls has some pleating in the front which helps conceal the pooch.  I decided to wear it for Mother’s Day when I realized that it fit me.  It was a tad big on me before and now it fits me perfectly…. talk about taking the good with the bad! I love the dress but hate that it fits. 🙂

Meet Joseph James

I’ve been wanting to post on baby Josephs arrival on March 7th since last week but I had to be readmitted 24 hours after the discharge due to Preeclampsia complications.  I was at labor and delivery for an additional 2 days for a total of 5 days.  It was a nightmare. I’ll be posting more about it as soon as I feel better.  I just wanted to take a sec and introduce my brand new little guy Joseph James born on March 7.

Black & White

SO happy I can still squeeze into this black  dress and my favorite white blazer.  Love the black and white combo for an evening look and the red bag for a pop of color.  I’ll definitely have this red bag in hand a lot during the holidays.  Wondering why I’m rocking the animal print heels a lot lately?  They’re one of the very few heels that still fit me comfortably.  Thank God I love them. 🙂

Shoes are comfy for about 20 minutes.  Had to put them aside to finish taking pictures.  Good thing I packed my flats inside my bag 🙂

What I’m Wearing: Black dress from Forever21 (similar version here) | White Blazer from Tobi (also seen here) | Animal Print Heels from Target (also seen here and here) | Red Erin Satchel c/o Fossil | Michael Kors Watch c/o ShopBop
