I was looking through all the amazing Coachella pics on Instagram before the social site went down on last Saturday.  There were SO many amazing outftits but I loved Jamie Chung’s so much that I decided to do a copycat.  I like that it can be worn by normal gals like me.  A simple white dress, worn in booties, fab sunglasses – it’s the perfect boho outfit for spring and summer – love it!

Lace Maternity Dress

I’ve been searching high and low for a dress to wear on New Year’s Eve and it hasn’t been the easiest task.  Sure they’re tons of cute maternity dresses but they never ever seem to fit me the way I want them to.  They’re always too lose at the bottom giving it a tent like look.  I understand the purpose of the fit and I’m all about the comfort but when it comes to just wanting to look and feel normal for one night and snap some pics it just doesn’t work for me.  In comes Pink Blush maternity who graciously sent me a beautiful burgundy lace dress that not only fits me perfectly but it also has three quarter sleeves, a flattering must and a good amount of stretch for comfort. I literally did the happy dance when I opened the package.  The burgundy color gives the affordable dress a luxurious look that would be perfect with any of my heels once I have the baby and can fit back into them.  Check it out below and make sure to check back next week where I will style the other adorable piece that they sent me.

What I’m Wearing: Lace Maternity Dress – $39.99 c/o Pink Blush | Jennifer Lopez Platform Pumps c/o Kohls (similar ones here) |  Animal Print Bag – $7.99 at Ross |

Lace & Flats

I’ve had this white lace shift dress for some time and I would have worn it sooner but it didn’t fit.  Yep this baby has been sitting in my closet for 3 months and 10 pounds.  I kept trying it on every couple of weeks and I was SO happy last week when it actually fit!  I’m still a few pounds of from my goal weight but I’m happy how far I’ve come.

Normally I would be terrified to wear a white dress but being that it’s a shift dress it’s a lot more forgiving. For accessories I kept it simple because I wanted to let the green bag do all the work and for shoes  I was initially going to pair the dress with pointy toe pumps but  I thought they were way too expected and a little dressier than I wanted to look so I decided  to wear these gorgeous flats by London Sole that gave it the perfect balance of dressy and dainty but still casual.

I was so thrilled when I got the  London Sole Henrietta Quilted flats worn by some of my favorite fashionista like Olivia Plaermo, Kate and Pippa Middleton, and Reese Witherspoon are just a few of their large celebrity following..They’re the true definition of a stylish classic shoe that won’t go out of style and well worth the investment making them a celeb and stylist favorite. These are the types of shoes that need to be in any women’s closet (especially busy moms like me) because they’re easy to wear for day or night, comfy and can be worn year round.  I love the details like the quilting that London Sole is famous for, the dainty little bow and even the heart inside their leather lining.  So glad I got them now because I have tons of shorts both casual and dressy that I plan on pairing them with a la Olivia Palermo.

Check out all of London Sole’s exquisite shoes here and check out all of the London Sole styles that the stars are wearing here.

What I’m Wearing:

Lace Dress – $14.99 from Ross

Studded Green Clutch – $13.99 from Marshall’s

Beyonce looked gorgeous at the Presidential Inauguration in a full length Pucci dress and a long black coat topped off with emerald green accessories (Pantone’s color of the year).   Yes the dress was amazing but I personally loved the whole package (including her arm candy Jay Z!).   The coat definitely gave the look a more luxurios feel and the jewelry added the perfect pop of color.  GetBeyonce’s look for less with a more realistic cocktail dress (I don’t know about you but I don’t see the need for a floor length gown in my closet.

How to Wear the New Lace

Lace has been on-trend for what seems like forever, and it’s still going strong. We all have it in our wardrobes; if you haven’t where have you been? So the lace trend must be getting a bit tired by now. Except this Spring/Summer lace has been reworked to give a fresh, new perspective to an exhausted and overworked trend. And this all starts with dresses!

Lace dresses were seen in a huge number of variations and colors on the Spring/Summer catwalks. All unique, creating what seemed like a brand new trend all over again. There is one major difference between the lace we already own and this new lace. The key to wearing lace next season is to opt for over-sized, bold patterns or Broderie Anglaise. If you remember one thing about this classic trend, remember that delicate, vintage lace has been replaced by bold, quirky patterns. This is a trend you can really have fun with!

Pattern is key, but color is still crucial to this trend next season. Be inspired by Louis Vuitton and get in on the pastels trend with candy hued dresses in spearmint green or pale yellow. Or opt for vibrant, eye popping brights in primary colors. But if you’d prefer a more understated shade to let the lace do the talking, try navy as an on-trend alternative. For example, this tiered scalloped lace dress from ASOS for $80.57 is perfect for summer evenings!

If you’re looking for something a bit different and less girly, try over-sized lace tees or lace pants for a more masculine vibe. There is a huge selection of dresses and other lace pieces available both on the high street and online. So whatever colors you choose, whether it’s white or nudes, pastels, eye popping brights or deep, dark blue make sure the lace you choose is bold and quirky!
