Walgreens Beauty Box Review

I mentioned before that I visit my local Walgreens probably two to three times a week. I figure if I’m going to shop I might as well get something out of it…like points from my Walgreens Balance™ Rewards card!  I try my best to save up points and for the most part I use them for the majority of my beauty products. But sometimes it’s nice to be able to try products out first before you buy (even though Walgreen’s has an amazing return system).  And that’s the genius behind Walgreens Beauty Box – especially for those point savers like me.  The Walgreens Beauty Box is a complimentary gift (valid from 7/1 while supplies last) when you spend $30 on participating beauty products. Sign up for a Balance Rewards card at Walgreens, then spend $30 on participating beauty products (details here) and then you can easily redeem your points online to get your free Beauty Box!

I was lucky enough to get mine in the mail to try out and I was so excited to open it up and try out all the goodies (and there was lots of them!).  My box included: two different types of BB creams. The first BB cream was Maybelline’s Dream Fresh and it had enough for two applications.  The second was the L’oreal Magic Skin Beautfier BB (a tad bit smaller but handy none the less).  They both do the trick and do it well.  Although they both blur imperfections flawlessly (especially redness) if I had to choose it would be Maybelline’s because it was exactly the way I like my makeup to feel (almost non-existent, which is perfect for summer).

In the beauty box was also a sample of Garnier’s Ultra Lift Tightener and Cream with a $2 coupon.  I’ve been dying to try this out for a while but I’ve been waiting until I actually ran out of my other bazillion products.  It’s a serum, my favorite type of moisturizer, and after one application it left my skin noticeably softer and feeling refreshed.  I was worried that the retinol would irritate my sensitive skin but I had no problem at all.

Also in my box was a sample of Aveeno lotion/sunscreen and coupon for $1.  This had to be my favorite sample in the box because I live in Florida and need to constantly reapply sunscreen. I’m really picky with lotions that contain sunscreen because they tend to either smell too strong or be somewhat sticky – this one was neither.  I actually really liked the mild fragrance, it was not sticky at all and more importantly it was smooth to apply.

Lastly, I also received in my box a Schick Hydro Silk Disposable.  It’s summer and what girl can’t use a handy new razor, especially one that hydrates your skin at the same time – win win!

Beauty can be found anywhere if you know where to look and, more importantly, who to ask. Walgreens has Beauty Advisors in every store, making expert beauty advice more accessible than ever. With Balance™ Rewards, spend $30 in store on participating beauty products and get a sample box by mail with this season’s best beauty finds. Learn more at Walgreens.com/BeautyWithin

New Year New Hairstyle

I used to get easily bored by my hair style and color.  I’ve had my hair super short (think Drew Barrymore’s Guess ads and Winona Ryder in’ Reality Bites – yeah that short!).  Then I switched to a angled bob, which I actually loved but I was way too lazy to be trimming it every three weeks.  The long layered style I have now is the longest I’ve had a style and I do love it (the color is whole other story).  The ombre style is my favorite and easiest for me but I get bored easily.

Zooey Deschanel  style bangs are so cute and I’m tempted to give bangs a shot. But, to confuse things, I really really love Olivia Palermo‘s hair style just as much.  What to do!  Check out some of inspirations below.

Sexy Nightware

Nightwear may not seem like the most important kind of clothing for women, but that doesn’t mean that a lot of thought and consideration doesn’t go in to picking it out. Nightwear is what we wear to go to sleep, yes, but it’s also what we wake up in on mornings before we get in the shower, what we might potter around in making breakfast, and what we wear to impress anyone who might happen to see us in it! For these reasons, owning some sexy nightwear is essential for every woman, even if it is just to make yourself feel gorgeous. Attractive, beautiful clothing doesn’t have to be seen by someone else to have an effect – just knowing that you look stunning can be a real thrill, and a long-term boost to your confidence.

When it comes to sexy nightwear, a lot of stores will throw skimpy lingerie at you. That’s not the same thing; sexy nightwear should be both practical and look seductive. For this you need an item like the simple, classic nightgown. With straps, a low back and hem and a plunging neckline, a light nightgown will have you showing off all your best assets whilst also providing a feasible item of clothing for you to move about and sleep in. Look for dressing gowns in feel-good fabrics like silk, and in deep, seductive colours such as dark red. Lace adornment is also a great sexy add-on.

You can browse a wide range of female nightwear including nightgowns such as those mentioned above online at www.ellos.co.uk. Ellos is a new retailer in the UK, but is well-established as a top mail order brand in its home country of Sweden and throughout the rest of Scandinavia. Their entire catalogue can be found at their website, which includes clothing for men, women and children.

Reese Witherspoon

It’s the May issue of People StyleWatch featuring the cute and classic (and newly married!), Reese Witherspoon.  Whether off-duty in jeans or pretty on the red carpet, she’s always pulled-together.  Witherspoon’s casual style – cropped jeans, tees, flirty skirts and chic accessories – feels easy but not boring.  As for her dressed-up style – a figure-flattering sheath in a playful pattern with bright pumps – has notice-me appeal without being over the top.  For more on Witherspoon and her natural look make sure to pick up a copy!
