Add a touch of metallic to any outfit and you’ll instantly have a more attention grabbing look.   It can be in the form of shoes, bags, pants or as I prefer a skirt.  This pleated metallic mini skirt is adorable and sassy.  It’s rosette print gives it a vintage-y touch while the metallicgives the skirt the sexiness.  Pair with chunky knits and tights for now and later or wear it with a  denim jacket and tee.  I can totally see Olivia Palermo rocking this skirt with a chic turtleneck and huge shades!  Check out how I styled it below

Chunky knits will make this skirt easy to wear during the day.   Pair with tights and add some layering for a chic winter look.

Revlon’s Color Closet: Fall’s Crimson Seduction

Fall is all about chilly temps, layering and boots!  And while it’s known for warm rich colors, there’s no better time to accentuate your look with  bright colors…how about starting with your nails!  The color red has always been a symbol of power and confidence.  It’s a sultry  classic color that never goes out of style.  But with tons of different shades as options it can be tricky to pick the right shade.  I was sent Revlon’s nail color Seduce and it’s gorgeous!  It’s a true red that’s easy to mix and match with other colors if you desire but I would let it stand out on its own.  The bold alluring color is sexy, fun and exactly what any fall color palette will need.

I like the idea of wearing it for day or night with matching toes of course.   For day a red polish will pop against basic pieces like a blazer layered with your favorite fall sweater.  Think mustards and blue with a  tweed blazer and amazing red mani…it’s a instant mood booster while adding that pop of color for fall!

For night it’s a no brainer!  When I want to add a little more sass to my look red always does the trick when wearing my favorite combo: a little black dress, a leather jacket and high heeled booties.  This fall let loose, have fun and get yourself a red mani!

Revlon believes there is more than one way for women to be seen. Revlon’s heritage as a color authority and its suite of innovative products inspires women around the world to express themselves through beauty each and every day.

Celeb Style: Summer Sweaters

I have a serious addiction to sweaters!  I’ve been living in florida for about 10 years and you’d think the heat would have cured my cravings, but nope!  I love layering them with tanks and button downs or just leaving them open over a little dress or tee like Mila Kunis and Reese Witherspoon (these are perfect examples of how a little sweater can make  getting dressed up that much more fun!).

During the winter I buy soft hoodies in solid colors that I wear with just about everything from skinny jeans and heels to booties and shorts.   It’s when spring rolls around that I really go all out and believe it or not I wear them more during the summer because I’m always in AC and freezing!  I buy cotton pullovers, knit shrugs and long loose fitting cardigans.  To say I have too many sweaters is really an understatement.  While I do look for bargains it really isn’t that important to me because I wear them to death and get my moneys worth so if I see one that I love I snap it up and don’t think twice.  Check out some of my favorites below from Yesstlye and what to wear them with.

This Color Block Cardigan for only $38 is perfect over dresses or even as a coverup.

A edgy sleeveless sweatshirt like this one is easy to dress up with either a chic white pencil skirt or cut off shorts and heels. Faux leather Pullover – $45

How can you not love a sheer hoodie? Pair it with your sexy swimsuit or wear it over your favorite maxi.  Sheer Hoodie – $25

An off the shoulder sweater in a bright color with brighten any of your summer favorites! Let your swimsuit peak out underneath for a sexy beachy look or try it over a striped mini for a nautical look.   Off The Shoulder Sweater – $32

Stylish Spring Picks For The Family

When it comes to online shopping (and I do most of my shopping online) I look for stores that have variety.  Especially at the begining of a new season where I like to buy  basic stylish pieces  that I can mix into my wardrobe.  Being a busy working mom I also look for stores that have something for the whole family to save time and money on shipping.  Stores like psyche.co.uk make it a cinch to do just that. You can easily shop by category, price, size or even trends!   With over 150 designer brands like Michael Kors, Barbour and Marc Jacobs to name just a few, there’s something for everyone regardless of style, size or budget.  And customers ordering outside the European Union get a 20% discount on their order, which is a biggie for me.  Established in 1982, Psyche has received recognition on an international stage, attracting the attention of fashion industry heavyweights in both the UK and  in Tokyo, Singapore and New York, including many parts of Europe.  Psyche aims to please the customer and make online shopping a pleasure so I can only imagine that in store shopping is equally enjoyable.  Check out some of my favorite spring picks below for the entire family.

I was immediately impressed by their vast selection: The tops range from dressy blouses with chic prints that are easy to wear for between weather like spring  (see below),  to trendy tees and preppy polos (and their jeans selection was just as impressive). Their shoe selection was equally diverse carrying shoes from affordable lines like Chinese Laundry to Ted Baker (I absolutely love the Ted Baker selection).   In this particular outfit I chose a light star print blouse, a faux fur jacket that I LOVE and gray jeans to create an effortless look that you can wear day or night.

Paul Smith Star Print Shirt – $62.39 | J Brand Skinny Jeans – $119.14  | Faux Fur Cropped Jacket – $59 | Paul Smith Cross Body Bag – $559 | Ted Baker Bow Heels – $124.80

The men selection was equally on par and just as fashionable.  I find that some online stores tend to stick to men’s basics and that’s not the case with Psyche.  Their men’s knitwear  and dressier shoes definitely stood out.  This outfit was totally inspired by my two teenagers.  They wear a pair of khaki’s, a button down and a light pullover nearly everyday.  I chose a white sweater because it gives the basic khaki’s a crisp clean feel and the polka dots provide a little flair.  Love it!

Hugo Boss Polka Dot Shirt – $143.71 | Armani Crew Neck Sweater – $137.41 | Ralph Lauren Khaki’s – $83.71 | J Shoes Brogues – $143.71 | Navy Nixon – $545

With spring comes rain and what makes rainy days a little more fun?  An adorable pair of kids Hunter boots!

2013 Summer Bathing Suit Trends

Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

When it comes to bathing suits I need to have variety because they’re worn year round here in Florida.  For the most part it’s nice to be able to strolll on the beach any time of the year, but it can be a bit exhausting thinking about being bathing suit ready ALL YEAR!  With that in mind I treat my bathing suits like I do my clothes.  I look for trends and fits that flatter, rather than the itsy bitsy bikini (although I do keep one handy for those days I’m feeling brave) and I also keep an eye out for pieces that can be mixed and matched.  This year women’s swimwear is so fun and playful!  I’m loving the retro fits that are fun and flirty, color blocked two pieces that are great for mixing and matching and classic nautical stripes that never go out of style making them a great investment.  Tip: Tempted to stick to a one piece?  Try a tankini instead (see below). They give you the coverage and the option of swapping out the top or bottom for a sexier look.  Which ever style you decide to go with, Anne Cole swimwear has got you covered.  Check out my favorite bathing suits under $100.

Color Blocking: A trendy color block bikini with just the right amount of coverage!  Tip: Tie a large bright scarf off your beach bag and later on you can use it as a shrug. Color Block One Piece – $66

Stripes: This striped bikini is perfect to mix with solid pieces like the one below. Tip: When choosing stripes keep in mind that the smaller they are the smaller you look. Camel In The Sand Bikini – $36

Classics: A navy bikini is always in style and a must have for mixing and macthing. Tip: When mix and matching swimsuit pieces opt for a solid bottom.  It’s a lot easier to wear a printed top than bottom. Marilyn Halter Side Tie Bikini – $31.50

Retro: A floral print tankini is perfect for stylish moms on the go.  Tip: Keep a cotton cardigan on hand if you plan on making it a whole day at the beach. Desert Floral Tankini – $46.50

Summer Basic: A solid black swimsuit is just like your favorie little black dress – easy to wear for day or night.  Tip: Keep a maxi skirt tucked in your beach bag and you’re good to go for dinner or a stroll on the boardwalk. Lingerie Malliot One Piece  – $78

Stylish:  A embellished one piece swimsuit screams glamour!  It’s the bathing suit you take on your vacation and then sit by the pool and sip on a pina colada! 🙂 Beaded Bikini– $52

The Formula: Peplum Tops

There’s something about a peplum top that’s so feminine, and as soon as you throw it on you instantly feel classy. I have a few peplum tops (you can see my lace one here) but the most flattering types are the ones that fall right at the hips and have 3/4 sleeve (but that goes for any sleeve).  This black one is like a basic tee and it’s a easy way to add a little flair to jeans or skirts.

What I’m Wearing:

Peplum Top – $14.99 from Kohl’s

Black Jeggings (also seen here) – $19.99 from Marshalls

The Formula: Stripes

The old saying, “if it ain’t broke. don’t fix it,” perfectly describes how I feel about must-have basic pieces in fashion. Trends come and go but basics never go out of style, particularly certain patterns and colors.  To that end I decided to start a series of posts called The Formula to highlight my favorite style “ingredients.”  The most obvious one to start with is stripes and if you follow my posts then it’s obvious by now that I love stripes.  I literally wear the pattern in some shape or form about 3 times a week. Tip: The thinner the stripe the better – keep that in mind when choosing anything with stripes.

Cheat Your Way To Chic

December 4, 2012 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

I’ve been fighting a nasty cold for about a month and it seems that every time I start to turn the corner one of the kids will bring home a new set of germs!  Anyway, when I wake up in the morning the restless nights of coughing and sneezing are all over my face and even my normal makeup routine can’t hide the worn out look. I’m not a cosmetologist nor am I very good with makeup techniques BUT after a couple of kids I’ve picked up a few tricks to hide the flaws:

Sunglasses – the bigger the better!

A bright scarf is a no brainer.

Eos!  Everyone always thinks I have lipstick on when it’s just amazing organic chapstick!

Earrings – I feel naked without a pair (and the shinier the better).

Dry shampoo is my saving grace! I have really long hair that gets oily pretty quick and I don’t have time to wash and dry every other day so I rely on dry shampoo daily.  It soaks up all the oil and leaves my hair full and shiny.  PSST is my favorite but I just bought Suave’s dry shampoo (it works amazingly well and is so much easier to find).

When I lived up north I always wore an inexpensive black coat for covering up less than stellar outfits.  So if you’ve got one, pull it out. If not, snag one…it’s worth it!  This one is only $40 from WindsorStore.com. Tip: Thrift stores are a great spot for coats and who knows you might score a nice vintage or designer one.

You really cant wrong with sequins – whether it’s for a prom or just a fun night out – they instantly give off a magical, princess-like vibe that dominated the Spring 2013 runways and will never go out of style.  One of my favorite stars that’s the perfect example off how magical sequins can make you look and feel is Taylor Swift. With her trademark ruby red lips, she’s rocked the sequins on many red carpets and always looks flawless!  Tip:  For a little more glamour and edge, add metallic heels (another huge trend) and a black clutch… and keep the jewelry simple! The dress will do all the work.  Get Taylor’s look for less with pieces from David’s Bridal, Heels.com and many more!
