The Classic Anorak

I’ve had this lightweight anorak from Marshall’s for about 3 years and every fall I pull it out and finds tons of new ways to wear it,  I think it cost me only about $20 and this baby never goes out of style (it’s my “other denim jacket”).  Check out what I wore it with below and similar options as well.

What I’m wearing: Anorak from Ross (similar options below), skinny jeans from H&M, asymmetrical tank from Old Navy (also seen here), scarf from American Eagle, vintage multi strand necklace and the dark crystal inspired Compass necklace from Twisted Silver (available October 24), aviator sunglasses from Ross.

New York City-based jewelry designer Alex Woo explores the rainforest with her latest nod to Disneynature. In honor of Disneynature’s newest True Life Adventure “Chimpanzee,” Woo designed two exclusive pendants featuring an image inspired by Oscar, the young chimpanzee destined to steal the hearts of moviegoers nationwide when the film swings into theaters April 20, 2012.

Featured alongside the young chimpanzee in Woo’s designs are three vines that were inspired by the Jane Goodall Institute’s mission to protect people, animals and the environment. Twenty percent of proceeds from sales of the pendants will benefit JGI’s conservation efforts to protect chimpanzees today and tomorrow.

Available in eco-friendly recycled sterling silver and 14K gold, the one-inch, open cut-out pendant (starting at $218) and 4/5-inch solid disc pendant (starting at $158) both hang from 18-inch chains. For availability and more information, check out

Project peaceBOMB: Buying Back The Bombs

Sustainable fashion has been hitting the industry hard, and artisan-made jewelry has started to look just as great as the causes they support. Project peaceBOMB uses scrap bomb metal to create bracelets and other sustainable jewelry. They call it Buying Back the Bombs.

During the Vietnam War, over 2 million tons of explosives were dropped on Laos in 580,000 bombing missions. Out of the over 270 million cluster bombs dropped, over 75 million failed to detonate. At the current rate of removal, it will take more than 800 years to clear the country of these bombs.

New York-based designer and young female entrepreneur, Elizabeth Suda created peaceBOMB to give consumers an effortless opportunity to help foster sustainable community development in Laos. Laotian artisans are able to rebuild their livelihoods by repurposing the bomb shards covering their land.

The peaceBOMB product line consists of over 15 pieces, each telling a story and giving back to the community that makes them.  For each piece of product sold, Project peaceBOMB donates funds equivalent to the cost of clearing 1 to 15 square meters of land.

Giving back has never looked so good. Stop by to check out the amazing peaceBOMB collection, and help support the wonderful cause!

The Time Necklace

Time stopped when I received the latest and greatest creative design from Twisted Silver: The Time Necklace.  And yes my heart even skipped a beat!  The necklace is gorgeous on so many levels and my necklace reminded me of a finely crafted pocket watch with a feminine touch.  As you can see from the picture below, the time Necklace is wrought from watch faces and artfully pounded with recycled vintage clip earring parts on a chunky chain with a giant raw metal toggle.  And, because Twisted SIlver uses reclaimed parts, all of the watch faces are different and vary in size, shape and color (in other words, no two are alike!).  Retails at $100 and available now at!  Save 15% by using the promo code INSIDERS at checkout.
