I’m always up for anything that celebrates amazing successful woman; so when the chic store
Ever since I was in high school I’ve been a huge fan of Drew Barrymore’s free spirit. As a kid my bedroom walls were covered with teen magazine clippings, movie posters and her infamous Guess ads – I was obsessed with her beauty and fallibility. She was relatable and I admired her spunky and ever-changing style. The once precocious child actor in E.T. that went on to flash Letterman is now a respected producer with an incredible line of beauty products and her own wine label!
The woman is amazing and someone who continues to inspire me and she’s definitely worthy of a #ARWOMAN hashtag.

If street fashion, magazines, blogs and the latest runway shows are any indicator, the 1990’s fashion trend is still in full effect. To this, I say: woohoo! While the resurgence of Grunge 2.0 gets plenty of flak, I’m still stoked to see my favorite childhood and adolescent garments popping back up on savvy fashionistas and in glossy publications. For those experiencing these fads for the first time, let’s do a quick primer on 90’s summer fashions – both the lovely and the ludicrous…
Bike shorts are back, baby – feel free to leave the bicycle at home. While some say that the brightly colored, skin-tight shorts don’t look good on anybody, I say it can be achieved if you want it bad enough. Pair these funky shorts with a plain, long white tank (or short dress) that covers at least most of your bum. Because the pattern and style of these shorts scream louder than Fay Wray in King Kong, it will only work with an otherwise minimalistic outfit. Think plain black flip flops, minimalistic tribal jewelry and sleek hair.
Horn buns…or does this hairstyle have an actual name? Whatever it is called, I would say this look is staying in the past. Instead of a bunch of small buns all over your head, go for just two. Better yet, try a twisty one like Kate Moss in the photo below.
20 years later, platform shoes are still hazardous to your health,- especially the velvet variety. I know, I know – they looked great under your big baggy pants while raving in the nineties.
If you are going to try to pull off the platform, go for something a little more cute and doll-like such as the Syndrome Kitten shoes below. Syndrome Kitten Platform Shoes – $31 at

Slip dresses: These used to be worn as real dresses. No white ‘baby tee’ underneath required. Some still advocate for the slip-as-dress style, but can it be done without looking like you just rolled out of bed and decided to take your chances with something a little more comfortable?
For a little more polished and elegant sophistication, and a little less Courtney Love, try covering up a bit with a light weight pea-coat and standard pumps.
Denim overall shorts appear to have become much more tailored than they were in the nineties. I love them with a tight, black and white striped t-shirt underneath.
Crop-tops – evidently, bare midriffs never go out of style. This is one of the 90s fashion trends that I plan on fully embracing once I finally make it through that Jillian Michaels ab-workout DVD.
Cat-eye sunglasses are also making a comeback, but be warned – they can kinda make you look bitchy. Of course this guy above is an exception. Like most things in the nineties, Kurt Cobain pulled it off. Guys wanted to look as cool as him, and women dreamed he would look in their direction of the mosh pit.
Forget “mom jeans” – it’s all about the “dad jeans” in the above photo. If you can rock them with confidence like Wynona Ryder, then go for it. Of course, don’t attempt to rock the dad jeans while wearing the shoe atrocity shown below.
REALLY, sporty slide sandals and socks?! Again? REALLY?! When will people learn the objective truth that socks with sandals is never okay?
Be bold with mixing prints and patterns. I, for one, have never feared the dreaded ‘pattern overload’. I say, BRING IT. It especially works with florals, you just have to play with the size of the prints and go with a mix that matches, or mismatches in the right way.
Bodysuits: the new (old) foundational undergarment. This trend is alive and well, but I just can’t get with this one. I assume it would be an uncomfortable pain in the butt, why not just tuck in your shirt? Why do you have to pretend you are an amateur gymnast while snapping your shirt together at the crotch? What do I know though? I have heard they are super comfortable and allow for that perfectly tucked in look even with the most stubborn skirts.
Kool-aid colored hair is evidently ‘back in the saddle again’… But the jury’s still out on face jewels. Also, there are those tiny horn buns again. Gwen Stefani looks good regardless, but will you be as lucky?
Tons of ear piercings became the thing to do with your ears in the 90s. Now-a-days, it isn’t exactly a trend, but you have to ask yourself a serious question: Is the ear-to-nose-ring chain back in style yet?
Daisies, daisies everywhere: currently omnipresent at every single teenybopper, hip mall store, which I am stoked to see. The daisy trend never left the boundaries of my heart. I guess that is true of most 90s fashion.
Readers, what trends from the 90s will you never let go of?

The usually private Drew Barrymore (my favorite actress) took the opportunity to show off her two girls today wearing a tee that any Game of Thrones fan will most definitely love! The shirt reads “Mother of Dragons” (insert meaning here) and all proceeds from the sale of the tee will go to help employment for foster kids in Los Angeles. Click
Drew Barrymore’s dress at the golden globe awards did not impress me but she definitely made up for it in a more casual look at the Barnes Nobles book signing for her new book “Find It In Everything” My favorite pregnant star was casual in a adorable heart print blouse, rolled up jeans and pumps I love this look and it’s dainty accessories – it’s perfect for valentines day and anyone can wear it. Get Drew’s look with the exact same blouse from Topshop or get the look for less with a similar blouse. Check them both out below.
I can’t even put into words how excited I am that my all time favorite actress Drew Barrymore is launching her very own cosmetic line called Flower! I adore everything about her and know that her line of cosmetics will be amazing. Flower will be available next month in 1,509 Walmart stores (and online).
“I think, if you really care about things, then you just naturally get involved,” Barrymore told
Guess is celebrating 30 sexy years of innovative designs, pride, and success with the release of a limited-edition women’s capsule collection launching in stores and online on April 20. The collection captures the brand’s industry-changing creations from the past 30 years, combining original styling and vintage washes with modern influences.
While the iconic ads made a star of Claudia Schiffer and a host of other models, my personal style was most influenced by Drew Barrymore’s participation. I was in high school when Drew was featured and my bedroom walls were covered from corner to corner with her Guess ads torn from the pages of every magazine I could get my hands on. Without doubt, the black-and-white images captured her unbridled free spirit and raw, sexual rebelliousness. It also sparked my own imagination, and to this day my fashion sense still leans toward an edgy, boho style full of denim. The only downside is that I even cut my hair short and spiky to look just like Drew, which was not a good look for me!
The new Guess collection drew inspiration from iconic pieces from the Guess archives and updated them with a modern twist. High-waisted denim cigarette pants with bold daisies, animal prints, vintage tie-waist button-down tops, and a delicate lace bustier, which Claudia made famous in her first Guess campaign. As part of the 30th Anniversary celebration, Guess is providing customers a unique and special experience, with the launch of a micro site,

Drew Barrymore: one of my faves when it comes to the chic boho look. Getting the right mix is a tricky art (even the fabulous Drew walks the razor edge at times with the chic part) but she nailed it this with the khaki/military shirt, skinny jeans, trendy yet classic striped t-shirt and grey platform pumps. Get Drew’s look for less with pieces from, Urban Outfitters, Piperlime, Charlotte Russe and more!
What is up with Drew’s closet lately? Yes, she’s gorgeous and has great style, but it seems like her outfits have gone from cool and quirky to down right silly. While this outfit isn’t terrible, it’s still a “off.” The skinny jeans are overly rolled up and the shirt is totally shapeless. I kept within her outfit’s “theme” but swapped out her button down for a more flattering scoop neckline that ties at the side. I also kept her skinny jeans but threw in some fierce white platform sandals. Hope you like it! What do you think of Drew’s outfit?
