In a post-genocide environment Willa Shalit spearheaded the Path to Peace project which developed an American market for Rwandan women’s crafts. The collection creates trade partnerships with artisans in recovering regions to bring the power of change to Africa and Indonesia.

In less than two years the project has achieved unparalleled success in bringing economic security to the women of Rwanda. Their are several items including bracelets ( O Bracelet and Sister bracelet), necklacesbaskets (which are the number one export out of Rwanda under the African Growth an Opportunity Act) and bowls.

House of Harlow 1960, is scheduled to hit Kitson in early December, there will be a 35 piece collection ranging in prices from $50 to $250 and completely inspired by Nicole’s style.  The line uses leather, silk strings, chains, rivets, gold plated metals, peacock feathers mimicking the bohemian, gypsy, flower child style that she is known for.
“I’ve always felt that great accessories are essential in every complete outfit and I wanted to create a collection that was easy to mix and match; to either wear alone as an everyday piece, or stack on to make more of a statement,” Nicole said in a press release.  I personally love the pieces (especially the black leather ring) that Kitson is currently  taking orders for.  They’re bold, unique and extremely versatile.  I like the fact that she kept it simple and didn’t make them too ornate.
