Be Yourself, Together #TargetWedding

When I first met my husband he was dressed like he just jumped out of the Delorean in the Back to the Future movie: So 1980’s!  He was wearing a leather jacket with the sleeves rolled up and tight jeans that landed about an inch above his glossy white sneakers. While little ‘ol me was decked out with an eclectic mix of boho and glam pieces selected from a least a dozen second hand shops around the Village. We were complete opposites. But as they say, sometimes opposites attract!

Perhaps that’s why I am so enamored with Target’s Wedding Registry under the theme “Be Yourself, Together,”  which embraces two people joining forces while celebrating their unique individuality to create a beautiful life together.  Target’s wedding registry line is nothing short of inspirational with a huge selection – from traditional picks for the home to fun, non-traditional items –  making it easy and stress free to pick the right gift.

To help interpret Target’s wedding theme, I was asked to pick out two different gifts, that when put together, represented both uniqueness and harmony.  For me, I would get the Panasonic camera to take pictures for my blog and a tent for my husband so we can escape on that camping trip he’s always talking about.   While he is pretending to be on Duck Dynasty I can take pictures for an upcoming post.

Coleman Flatwoods 4 Person Tent

It doesn’t get better than that! Two gift’s that really can be benefit from one other just like a newlywed couple.  And that is the beauty of Target’s Wedding theme “Be Yourself, Together” and their amazing wedding registry selection.  Follow all the wedding fun by checking out #TargetWedding.

Thrift Store Find: Vintage Faux Fur Coat

I’ve always been an avid thrift store shopper and nothing is more exciting than finding something you love on the cheap.  Just the other day my son asked me to take him thrifting and I was SO excited not only because he showed an interest in one of my passions, but also because we were going on a day that offered 50 percent off clothes.  While my son was looking to find what he called “Cosby” type sweaters I hit the women’s clothing section and found a spotted faux fur coat for $16 but I got it $8!  I expected the coat to need some type of tailoring but it fit perfectly and it’s in amazing condition!  I won’t be wearing it too often here in Florida but I now have a super cute coat for my frequent NY visits.

What I’m Wearing:

Vintage Faux Fur Coat – $8 from Local Thrift Store

Mint Green Dress – $7.50 from T.J. Maxx

Pointy Toe Pumps $70 from Yesstyle (also seen here)

The Formula: Peplum Tops

There’s something about a peplum top that’s so feminine, and as soon as you throw it on you instantly feel classy. I have a few peplum tops (you can see my lace one here) but the most flattering types are the ones that fall right at the hips and have 3/4 sleeve (but that goes for any sleeve).  This black one is like a basic tee and it’s a easy way to add a little flair to jeans or skirts.

What I’m Wearing:

Peplum Top – $14.99 from Kohl’s

Black Jeggings (also seen here) – $19.99 from Marshalls

Pointy Toe Pumps – $25.50 from Charlotte Russe

The Formula: Stripes

The old saying, “if it ain’t broke. don’t fix it,” perfectly describes how I feel about must-have basic pieces in fashion. Trends come and go but basics never go out of style, particularly certain patterns and colors.  To that end I decided to start a series of posts called The Formula to highlight my favorite style “ingredients.”  The most obvious one to start with is stripes and if you follow my posts then it’s obvious by now that I love stripes.  I literally wear the pattern in some shape or form about 3 times a week. Tip: The thinner the stripe the better – keep that in mind when choosing anything with stripes.

New Year New Hairstyle

I used to get easily bored by my hair style and color.  I’ve had my hair super short (think Drew Barrymore’s Guess ads and Winona Ryder in’ Reality Bites – yeah that short!).  Then I switched to a angled bob, which I actually loved but I was way too lazy to be trimming it every three weeks.  The long layered style I have now is the longest I’ve had a style and I do love it (the color is whole other story).  The ombre style is my favorite and easiest for me but I get bored easily.

Zooey Deschanel  style bangs are so cute and I’m tempted to give bangs a shot. But, to confuse things, I really really love Olivia Palermo‘s hair style just as much.  What to do!  Check out some of inspirations below.

Outta My Bag: Motel Rocks Tube Skirt

I’ve had this skirt from Motel Rocks for some time and I’ve always worn it casually with a tank and denim jacket.  This time I decided to dress it up a bit with a burgundy batwing cardigan, which is so lightweight I can wear it year round, and for a pop of color I added a blue bandeau top. Burgundy or shall I say oxblood is my favorite color this season – it gives everything a more luxurious feel. 🙂

What I’m Wearing:

Cotton Batwing Cardigan – $5 at Cotton On

Bandeau Top c/o meet mark

Motel Tube Skirt c/o Motel Rocks

Belt – $15 (last season similar one here) at

Studded Clutch (also seen here) c/o

Shoes $70 at Yesstyle

StriVectin–AR™ Advanced Retinol Night Treatment Review

January 3, 2013 by

Since I was a teenager I have religiously removed my makeup every night and moisturize every day and night.  I’m also the kinda the girl that believes (whether true or not lol) your body gets used to a product – so I switch up products a lot and I’m always on the lookout for new items hitting the market.   One of my favorite brands is StriVectin and I have been using a ton of their products on and off for quite some time.  Recently they asked me to review their new StriVectin–AR™ Advanced Retinol Night Treatment and I immediately jumped at the opportunity – my skin is prone to acne so I have to be very careful about which moisturizers I use.  With Strivectin, I love the fact that their moisturizer is rich but light and within a week of applying it nightly my skin was smoother, brighter and healthier looking.  The best part is it didn’t cause me to break out…It really is the Midnight multitasker that  works harder and smarter.

What is it?

An amazing moisturizer for those looking to fight all the major signs of aging but also perfect for preventative care.

 • Reduces the look of deep-set wrinkles and fine lines

• Hydrates and deeply nourishes skin nightly
• Plumps skin to restore its bounce and youthful contour
• Evens tone and leaves complexion radiant
• Refines and smoothes skin texture
The unsurpassed performance of Retinol without the irritation.

I can’t believe Christmas is in 6 days and I also can’t believe that I got all my shopping done in less than five days and even found a few items for myself. 🙂  I was shopping at TJ Maxx and took a quick glance at its clearance section and found this cute floral dress for only $7!! Only in FL can you wear a summer dress in December and still be hot because you threw on a jacket!  Oh and yes I’m suppose to still have my arm in a sling but I refuse to wear it out because it’s hideous! lol

What I’m Wearing:

Floral Dress from T.J. Maxx

Distressed Denim Jacket from American Eagle (also seen here)

Lilac Mary Janes from Ross (also seen here)

Drawstring Bag c/o meet mark
