You’ve spent all winter under your warm winter jacket, but now the spring has begun if you still wear the same jacket you’ll spend most of the time feeling too hot whenever you have it on, but too cold if you take it off.

It’s time to get it dry cleaned, pack it away and replace it with a spring jacket – one of the most useful items of clothing around for these months when it can be sunny and warm one moment, but change in an instant to a chill breeze that you can’t seem to get escape from.

A spring coat can also be a great way to state your own particular style. There are many different designs and materials available, meaning that you can dress any outfit up or down with a spring jacket.

Available in a rainbow of colours, ranging from neutrals through to neons, the raincoat is a really versatile jacket for springtime. You can be as conservative or as loud as you like through the raincoat you choose to wear; and, of course, it’s an eminently practical way to stay dry when you’re out and about. Lightweight and easy to fold away, a raincoat can see you through most of the year, not just the spring.

Utility Jacket

Utility coats, such as military-style jackets or motorbike jackets continue to be as popular as ever this spring. They come in a huge variety of styles and can be great for finishing off a wide range of outfits. You can pair them with jeans or a little dress, or even shorts – they go with almost anything. Check out the Superdry Aztec Jacket – an army jacket with additional features like Aztec stitching on the front and back, as well as inside the cuffs.

Most utility jackets come in neutral shades, or greens and greys; add something feminine to your outfit so that you still look girly. Don’t think utility means scruffy – you can find a whole range of styles, from tailored to distressed.

Spring Outfits

A blazer is an essential item in a girl’s wardrobe. It’s something that can be worn to work but then still look great for a night on the town. If you want to make a blazer feel less formal, you can always opt to layer it with a hoodie to give a casual overall look. Moto jackets are a twist on the classic blazer, and can work as well with a dress as with a pair of jeans.

You can’t go wrong with a trench coat. For a start, they come in a huge range of colours, but for all-round versatility it’s probably best to stick to a neutral tone. The length of a trench coat gives you a streamlined look regardless of what you choose to wear underneath it. It’s perfect for going to work, but can also look great with your weekend jeans and t-shirt.

It won’t be long before the summer heat means we won’t even consider taking a jacket out with us, but until then, it’s best to be prepared with a stylish spring jacket or two in your wardrobe.
