Go Big Or Go Home

This is my first outfit post after having a baby and I was a bit nervous about what to wear (I’m still sporting a post baby pooch) and how I would look because I still have a lot of weight to lose but the theme of this post made me push beyond my fear and GO BIG!  I was sent a bottle of Salon Grafix hair spray and dry shampoo to review and showcase along with my style and  if you know me you know that those are two of my must have hair styling products!

Salon grafix Go Big Or Go Home

When it comes to my style/outfits I’ve always liked to pick one focus piece and let it shine. In this case it’s the white midi dress (I folded down the top and wore it as a skirt).  It’s a great piece to layer and it lets me flaunt my post baby curves.  I paired it with casual functional pieces and then gave it a little oomph by adding the oversized clutch and super high heels.

Now onto the hair products: I use dry shampoo even after I wash my hair so I really wanted to give this a fair shot and use it a couple days after a wash.  Because I wear my hair in a very beachy/wavy/messy way it has to have a good texture. I’ve tried other brands and they just dry it up and tangle it, and that’s NOT the case with Salon Grafix.  I washed my hair and gave it 3 days to build up a little oil and I didn’t touch my curling iron so that I could test out the hairspray on my waves.

Long Wavy Hair

I started by brushing my hair out, then I sprayed the dry shampoo liberally and brushed my hair again – It instantly gave my hair a nice fresh scent, left it super soft with lots and lots of volume which is a huge plus for me because I love BIG undone hair AND it gave my hair some much needed color to my roots.  I then sprayed my ends with a light mist of hair spray and curled the ends. Next, I resprayed a couple of times and ran my fingers through it (that’s how I know if the curl will hold) and as I expected it held!  Both products kept my hair looking clean, held my big long waves and it smelled great!

Must Have Spring Jackets

April 15, 2014 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

You’ve spent all winter under your warm winter jacket, but now the spring has begun if you still wear the same jacket you’ll spend most of the time feeling too hot whenever you have it on, but too cold if you take it off.

It’s time to get it dry cleaned, pack it away and replace it with a spring jacket – one of the most useful items of clothing around for these months when it can be sunny and warm one moment, but change in an instant to a chill breeze that you can’t seem to get escape from.

A spring coat can also be a great way to state your own particular style. There are many different designs and materials available, meaning that you can dress any outfit up or down with a spring jacket.

Raincoat

Available in a rainbow of colours, ranging from neutrals through to neons, the raincoat is a really versatile jacket for springtime. You can be as conservative or as loud as you like through the raincoat you choose to wear; and, of course, it’s an eminently practical way to stay dry when you’re out and about. Lightweight and easy to fold away, a raincoat can see you through most of the year, not just the spring.

Utility Jacket

Utility coats, such as military-style jackets or motorbike jackets continue to be as popular as ever this spring. They come in a huge variety of styles and can be great for finishing off a wide range of outfits. You can pair them with jeans or a little dress, or even shorts – they go with almost anything. Check out the Superdry Aztec Jacket - an army jacket with additional features like Aztec stitching on the front and back, as well as inside the cuffs.

Most utility jackets come in neutral shades, or greens and greys; add something feminine to your outfit so that you still look girly. Don’t think utility means scruffy – you can find a whole range of styles, from tailored to distressed.

Blazer

Spring Outfits

A blazer is an essential item in a girl’s wardrobe. It’s something that can be worn to work but then still look great for a night on the town. If you want to make a blazer feel less formal, you can always opt to layer it with a hoodie to give a casual overall look. Moto jackets are a twist on the classic blazer, and can work as well with a dress as with a pair of jeans.

Classic trench

You can’t go wrong with a trench coat. For a start, they come in a huge range of colours, but for all-round versatility it’s probably best to stick to a neutral tone. The length of a trench coat gives you a streamlined look regardless of what you choose to wear underneath it. It’s perfect for going to work, but can also look great with your weekend jeans and t-shirt.

It won’t be long before the summer heat means we won’t even consider taking a jacket out with us, but until then, it’s best to be prepared with a stylish spring jacket or two in your wardrobe.

As a mom of five boys it’s essential for me to take some time out for myself, which is why I was SO excited to try out Caress® Emerald Rush™ Fresh Collection Body Wash.  Looking good and feeling should go hand in hand and there’s nothing like a brand new body wash to leave you feeling fresh and ready to start your day.  My skin tends to get dry and I stay away from harsh bars of soaps, so using body washes is ideal for me. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the  Caress® Emerald Rush™ Fresh Collection Body Wash foamed up and the scent is not over powering yet strong enough to linger and it leave your skin silky smooth!

It’s definitely a nice addition to my daily bath essentials and it doesn’t hurt that the color Emerald Green (last years pantone trend) is just gorgeous!  I’ve always loved emerald green and spring is the perfect time to wear it!  It can easily make its way into any outfit via a great bold accessory, shoes or a pretty midi skirt.  Either way it’s a great color that can be worn year round and easy to partner up with this years pantone trend, radiant orchid.  Check out some looks featuring the pretty shade of green below.

An emerald green midi skirt (a huge spring trend) will give your spring outfit a pop of of the luscious color.  Pair with a white blazer and gold accessories for a crisp clean feel.

Looking to sport the emerald green in more than one outfit?  Then try a jacket that has pops of green!  Pair it with jeans and a tee, over a little black dress or go monochromatic with all white (another color I love for warmer temps).

Amazing how one body wash can inspire so much!

The Caress® Emerald Rush™ Fresh Collection Body Wash wraps your skin in vibrant scents and hydrating lather, leaving it revitalized and delicately scented. Try the new  Caress® Emerald Rush™ Fresh Collection Body Wash and revitalize your skin like never before.

A Touch of Summer in The Spring

The weather is starting to  feel what most people would consider a normal summer day but for Floridians its still spring becuase it’s still not inhumanely hot.  Most days it’s in the low 80s and a cold front pops up maybe twice a month bringing the weather down to normal spring temps but it doesn’t really matter down here.  Once March rolls aorund the daisy dukes come out in full force and the wife beaters are sold by the dozen (I’m not kidding about the wife beaters – I tried to buy my teenager a pack for his MMA class and there was only 2 packs left in white at Target lol). Anyway it doesn’t leave much room for layering but it does give for some fun styling. You can pair a trench with denim shorts, pack a cardigan to the beach or wear your bikini under a linen blazer for a night on the beach.  Its a laid back style that you can’t really wear all year round anywhere else.

Spring Hair Pinspiration: Messy Braids

April 9, 2014 by

So the little guy has figured out how to pull my hair.  Every time I’m feeding him he grabs a fist full and pulls!  I’ve tried a hair clip but they annoy me after 5 minutes and every time I put it in a bun I think of The King of Queens episode with Carrie wearing a bun (see the clip below).  So I’m left with a pony tail or a braid.  I prefer the latter because my hair is long enough for him to pull on the pony tail if he is in the right position.  I’m not the savviest when it comes to braiding my hair so I’ve been searching for the perfect messy braid

Coachella Dreams

Unfortunately I’ve never had the pleasure of attending Coachella but it’s always been a dream and every year I drool over the festival’s free spirited styles & pictures all over the internet.  I figure if I can’t go to Coachella I can live vicariously through the pictures and maybe even incorporate a little into some outfits. A girl (or mom) can still dream…..

My little Joseph turns three weeks old today and I figured I’d share some of my favorite shots him.  I’ve been a little obsessed with him and I’m constantly snapping pics.  He so alert and its as if he knows that I’m taking pictures – love it!!

Joseph James Three Weeks

Oversized sunglasses are a must when you’re running on three hours of sleep.  :)

Newborn early reading

Robert has been saving all of his baby books for Joseph and last week he read one of his faves 5 Little Monkey’s that we’ve named after all the brothers!

Newborn Three Weeks

Little Joseph is constantly being rocked by someone. :)  Here he is with my mom.

Newborn Three Weeks

I swear I think he knows when I’m about to take a picture because he stops and stares right at me – love it!  Maybe he’ll take after the actors who I named him after Joseph Gordon Levitt and James Franco lol ;p

Newborn Wubbanub

LOVE the adorable monkey wubbanub that I accidentally found at Books A Million.

Ralph Lauren Baby at TJ Maxx

While shopping for myself I found some Ralph Lauren rompers for only $10!  Might go back and buy them all the colors!

I’ve been wanting to post on baby Josephs arrival on March 7th since last week but I had to be readmitted 24 hours after the discharge due to Preeclampsia complications.  I was at labor and delivery for an additional 2 days for a total of 5 days.  It was a nightmare. I’ll be posting more about it as soon as I feel better.  I just wanted to take a sec and introduce my brand new little guy Joseph James born on March 7.

Sponsored Post: Liquid-Plumr’s New Hair Clog Eliminator Ad

March 6, 2014 by

You’d think with all the products out there to help you get thicker and healthier hair, there woud be an equal selection of products to buy to unclog your drain – but the selection is weak and believe me I’ve looked. In comes everyone’s favorite product Liquid Plumr to clear out those hairs that seem to never stop clogging your drain. I love how the Liquid Plumr promo starts off like the typical hair product ad and then shifts gears to the good looking Beau and the hair clog eliminator. It’s funny because whenever I see those hair product ads the last thing I think of is unclogging my drain, but they do go hand in hand.

I have a lot of long, thick hair and while I love it and would never cut it there’s always the not so fun side of it inevitably ending up in my drains and clogging the pipes. I don’t know about you but there’s a lot of other things I rather be doing with my time than trying to unclog my drains. I’ve personally tried it and it works like a charm – within minutes it unclogged the drain and gave me some much needed extra time to style my hair instead of playing plumber and trying to unclog it myself from my drains. So the next time you go to the store to buy shampoo, conditioner and hairspray, make sure you also pick up a bottle of Liquid-Plumr’s Hair Clog Eliminator.

*This drain cleaner is safe for all septic systems and pipes, including PVC, plastic, copper, and old pipes.
