picture-16Update:  The winner of the Etsy Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch is carlyjcais with the following comment: ” What lovely clutches! I’d choose Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch from The Conservatory Collection (the black pattern with the yellow ribbon accent). I’d pair it with this cool pair of 80’s pleat-front pants I picked up at Goodwill (cuffed, of course), a pair of platform strappy black sandals, a cream blazer with DIY gold studding on the lapel, a double-wrap black belt with tiny gold stud detailing, and a dangly feather earrings made of black-and-white partridge feathers and dyed long yellow rooster feathers (to pick up the beautiful yellow in the clutch). Plus some chunky bangles, and some long necklaces over a white tank underneath. Black, white and yellow – perfect!”

Congratulations Carly and a big thank you to all of you who participated!

Etsy has a treasure trove of creative souls and I recently stumbled upon an incredibly talented indie designer with a shop called Third Willow. Third Willow has graciously offered one lucky Fashiongrail devotee a remarkable handcrafted and vintage inspired pierce: Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch.  The contest will run from Monday, June 8 to Friday June 12 winner will be selected on Saturday, June 13.

How to Play: Go to Third Willow and pick your favorite clutch.  Return to Fashiongrail and leave a comment to the following question: “What would you wear it with?”  Make sure you name the clutch you picked!  The most creative answer will win!  Have fun and good luck!

Product Description: Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch in gray-green cotton fabric with a printed tweed pattern has ruffled detail and saddle brown, croc embossed leather ribbon accenting, and is lined in lustrous, black taffeta with interfacing added for structure and support.  Bag is approximately 11″ wide at the base with an 11” opening x 5” tall x 1″ deep (when filled).  The flap closure of the bag covers the entire opening of the clutch. 1. What adorable clutches! My favourite is the Betsey’s Bridesmaid Clutch from the matrimonial collection, in ivory: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26121457

I would use both colours: the toffee to carry and the ivory I would attach, upside down, to the bust of a t-shirt dress so I could put that gorgeous shantung silk with the sweet ruffle trim and the vintage-inspired brooch on full display!

    Good luck to everyone!

So my favorite clutch is the Maxine’s Midtown Wristlet! It’s “white hot,” with an adorable silver stripe detail down the middle. I would probably wear this with a sassy floral number (I’m hunting for the perfect floral summer dress) or some nice neutral top with jeans. It’s definitely a perfect clutch for a date night or a girls’ night out. As a matter of fact, I’m already thinking that it may have to come with me for my girls’ weekend in Vegas 😉

I’d wear Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch with a little black dress and yellow cocktail ring. Gold shoes. Done and done!

I love the Imogene’s Uptown Clutch from The Matrimonial Collection. Classic and simple – can be worn with anything. Could sure use a new black clutch as mine is 20 years old. Time for a change!!

  5. I love Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch from The Conservatory Collection. The black and white with the touch of yellow gives it such versatility. I would wear it with my Little Black Dress (note to self: make date with husband) to be all fancy, or with skinny jeans and a white top with black flats for a girls night out (note to self: round up girls for a night of drinks). OR I’d grab it while running errands at Target in my mom uniform to make me feel trendy while chasing after a toddler. See? The possibilities are endless!

Alright, so I’m going to have to go with the clutch pictured with the model in the pictures for Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch from The French Damask Collection, even though it isn’t actually for sale! A huge percentage of my wardrobe is in black and white, and I love damask.

Although I’ve got tons of black and white numbers I could use this clutch with, I think the perfect outfit to wear it with would be a new one… I’m big into clothes that draw on historical costume, and since damask reached its height of popularity in the high middle ages, I’m going to go with one of Marc Jacobs’ stunning medieval inspired dresses from his Fall ’08 collection. This (http://images.teamsugar.com/files/upl0/0/3987/06_2008/79673243_10.preview_0.jpg) light blue one would make the black and white damask pop!

  7. Ohmigod…I absolutely adore Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch in black and white with pink accent. My three favourite colours all rolled into one fabulous little clutch and the filagree pattern in black and white is just beautiful!

What would I wear it with? I have a fabulous black chiffon dress from England with puffy chiffon sleeves that are cuffed at the wrist. I would pair that with a fabulous skinny black patent belt to cinch the waist, black tights and sky high Peeptoe oxford booties. I would wear my black and white Feathered hair pin too pull back a lock of hair.
The clutch would definitely be the focal point of this outfit! It stands out on it’s own!

  8. What awesome vintage-style bags! If I had Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch (which is the one I’d choose, either in the colors above or the black and white with a bright strip of ribbon – http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26200368) I’d probably carry it everywhere and wear it with, ahem, almost everything! I just ordered a really pretty black, white and blue summer dress that would be really fun with the monotone version, and really like the idea of wearing the red and grey purse with a short skirt, platform heels and a bomber jacket.

Crap. Now I need a bomber jacket. (And one of those clutches.)

  9. Wanda C says:

oh, I love the Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch from The Conservatory Collection I love black and white and it would go with everything. So many would wear it with the little black dress but jeans and jacket and Clara’s would make a night out fun!

  10. Erin Moore says:

For the Win a Clutch contest, I love the Maxine’s Midtown Clutch from the Conservatory Collection. And I would wear a Khaki ruffley skirt to pick up the ruffled detail on the clutch, and then I would wear a Pink top with a square neckline to mimic the square pattern. And dress it up with a white necklace with a large square pendant to pick up the geometry again. And I would love to wear some White strappy sandals with it. That was fun! Hope I win! Great clutches!

  11. Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch from The Conservatory Collection is my favorite. The color are divine. What cute creations!

Love the classic lookk of this one has a real BIBA vibe. I would team it with a casual look plain red tulip skirt and white tshirt. A string of pearls and a pair of flat white plimsols for the day and a killer pair of purple courts for the evening.

My choice? The Maxine’s Midtown Wristlet from The Leather Collection in white and mustard. It’s got the right amount of flair that all it needs to be paired with is your favorite sundress (preferably if it’s a LYD… little yellow dress!) and some Frye Sandals that match it.

Sometimes, all you need to do is let your accessories shine. 🙂

I love the Clara’s Metropolitan in pink with a pink ribbon. And when you have a clutch that fabulous who needs clothes anyway!!! I guess I would be blushing in pink!!

  16. Marysol Soto says:

I must say that all of the purses from ThirdWillow are beautiful. My favorite is the Clara’s Metropolitan Clutch from The French Damask Collection. This would go with anything but I would use this purse on evening out. I would keep it simple in order to really show off the purse. Pointed heel shoes, a pair of jeans, black top with a white bottom down jacket and a simple pair of earring. This way I could enhance the look of the purse. What better way to accessorize an outfit for an evening out.

  17. Andrew says:

So what I’m a dude…….I love the maxine’s midtown clutch from the conservatory collection. Specifically the pinkish geometric clutch with a ribbon accent. I picture my love in a baby dolly white summer dress with this handbag strolling through Chicago on a warm summer night. I also know that this would include a beaming smile and an empowered woman to dance the night away with 🙂 What I lack in fashion sense I make up for by having a good eye for something strikingly unique and original.
