Celeb Style: Recreating Elizabeth Taylor’s Old Hollywood Elegance

Lifetime’s much anticipated Liz & Dick debuts November 25 and I can’t think of a better way to enjoy my Thanksgiving time off then to watch a movie about one of Hollywood’s most tumultuous and romantic relationships (If my math is right, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were married, divorced, and remarried).  Sure there’s a lot of hype about Lindsay Lohan in the lead role, but what I’m dying to see more then anything is the recreation of Elizabeth Taylor’s over-the-top glamourous style!  Always elegant and dripping in diamonds, her outfits screamed Hollywood elite. For the upcoming holiday season there’s no better time to recreate the old Hollywood elegance epitomized by Liz (for less of course!).  Check out some easy ways to recreate that old Hollywood elegance below:

Rhinestones, diamonds and jewelry with sparkle and glitz instantly give any outfit an elegant and expensive look.  Pair them with jeans and a white button down for a modern/glam vibe.

Red lips and dramatic eyes are a must!  When choosing your lipstick look for colors that complement your skin tone. For warm, tanned skin, go for an orangey red. If you’re pale with rosy undertones, pick a more pinkish red.  If you’re still in doubt try a true red mixed with a lipliner – it will look good on any skin tone – and make sure to balance the bold look with bold lashes and dramatic eyeliner!

Faux fur is a no brainer!  Whether a vest, scarf or coat, you can’t go wrong and it will never go out of style!

A chic sheath dress is an iconic wardrobe staple and one that Elizabeth flaunted many times (sometimes with a tiara – Come on!  How can any woman not swoon over the very idea of wearing a tiara just for the sake of wearing one!).

Lindsay Lohan stars as the legendary dame Elizabeth Taylor alongside Grant Bowler as celebrated actor Richard Burton in the Lifetime Original Movie Liz & Dick, making its world premiere Sunday, November 25, at 9pm ET on Lifetime.  Based on the true story of the couple’s passionate and tumultuous love affair Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were Hollywood royalty and their fiery romance — often called “the marriage of the century” — was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day.  http://www.mylifetime.com/movies/liz-and-dick
