Dislike Your Legs? What to Wear, and How to Help Them Look Better

January 29, 2018 by

If you’re enjoying winter a little too much because of the ability to cover up your legs, you may want to look into whether there’s anything you can do to get some relief. First, you can wear outfits that show but minimize your legs. Second, you can look into treatments that can improve the look of your legs. Approaching the issue from two sides will help to build your confidence in your body, and will also make sure that you always look your best.

Fashion Tips for Minimising Legs
There are a number of different approaches that you can take when choosing a summer outfit that shows off your best features rather than your legs. First, skirts and dresses will generally keep you cooler than jeans, so it’s best to examine what cuts and styles will flatter your legs the most.

A-line midi skirts that end below the knee are a classic choice. Just make that you choose a length that ends closer to your ankle rather than the mid-calf, so that it shows off your legs at the slimmest part. If an A-line cut isn’t your thing, consider a maxi-dress or wide-leg flowy trousers. The maxi-dress can be belted to give your body more shape, and pair the wide-leg trousers with a tighter-fitting top. Both styles can accentuate your waist, as well as covering up your legs.

If these styles don’t quite fit what you like, simply draw attention away from your legs by wearing a darker or plain style trousers or skirt, with a brighter or more patterned top. This will draw the eye towards your top half, leaving you free to choose a wider range of styles for your lower half.

Improving The Look of Your Legs
There are three big steps that you can take to help your legs look smoother and more aesthetically pleasing: exfoliation, treatment for varicose veins, and radio frequency skin tightening.

Exfoliation is the first and easiest step that you can take to help your legs look better when wearing dresses and skirts. Doctor Engelman, a dermatologist, notes that exfoliation is “a great way to boost circulation and reduce the appearance of cellulite in the legs by removing dead, flaky skin cells resting on the surface of the skin”. Just make sure you exfoliate right: first use a dry brush, then an exfoliating scrub. To ensure that your skin doesn’t get dried out, then use an oil (like bio-oil) to replace the moisture in your skin, followed by a lightweight moisturiser.

Next, consider getting treatment for any varicose veins that might be affecting the look of your legs. There are a number of different treatments available, and many of these are non-invasive and simple. If you have blue or greenish veins that are visible on your legs, treatment can help to reduce the appearance of these. If you are experiencing pain or a feeling of pressure and swelling in your legs, this could be a sign that you have varicose veins that are getting worse. Treatment can also help this pain to go away.

The most common non-invasive treatment is called endovenous laser treatment (EVLT). An ultrasound is used to find the leaking vein, and then small keyhole surgery incisions are made in the skin. The vein is closed inside the leg, without having to remove the vein or make a large incision. The procedure is the treatment of choice for many practitioners, and the benefits are that it is quick, and leaves no scarring.

Finally, you can consider getting radio-frequency treatment for your legs. This type of treatment can help to minimise the appearance of wrinkles, excess fatty tissues, or cellulite. As people age, it is common for wrinkles around the knees to develop, called “kninkles”. Radio-frequency treatment uses heat energy to reshape the layers of tissues underneath the skin. This can help to smooth the appearance of the skin around your knees, and can also help to alleviate cellulite on the thighs or calves.

If you want to feel more comfortable showing your legs in skirts and dresses, it can help to take measures that improve the appearance of your skin. By taking simple steps like exfoliation, treating varicose veins, and alleviating cellulite and wrinkles, you can feel more positive about wearing summer dresses and showing your legs.

Five Ways To Look Pulled Together

I’d like to say that I go to bed at the same time everyday, and that I have the perfect outfit picked out every night, a flawless makeup routine but that’s not always realistic for me or many other working moms. Instead what I’ve done is mastered the ability to look pulled together in a matter of 10 to 15 minutes without much of an effort. It’s great to be able to have a few tricks up your sleeves on busy mornings or when you’re traveling and want to just get on the road and have some fun! Below are five ways to always look pulled together.

Five Ways To Look Pulled Together

1. If you’re a jeans and tee kinda mood, layer a pretty necklace or scarf, or sexy heels and if the weather permits add some layers with a well fitted blazer and or sweater.
2. Avoid wrinkled clothing, it screams I was running late. A quick pass of the iron goes along way and it’s worth the effort.
3. Skip your makeup routine and use these things instead: lip gloss, a pink blush, and mascara or even better false eyelashes (any style will do but I lean toward understated and prefer false eyelashes). I always focus on my eyelashes to they’re like caffeine for the yes and instantly make you look wide awake!
4. In dire need of a mani but short on time? Trim nails, lather up on lotion and apply a shiny top coat.
5. If all else fails, wear a head to toe black outfit! You can never go wrong by wearing black or any monochromatic outfit because they instantly look chic and even have a slimming effect. Try it and thank me later!

Bottom line is if you keep it neat, clean and simple you’ll always look pulled together and chic! More fashion/outfit tips can be found here!

How To Choose the Perfect Pair of Sunglasses

August 9, 2017 by

Sunglasses are more than just a fashion accessory. The American Optometric Association says you should always wear them during daylight hours regardless of the weather. The sun’s UV rays are harmful and can cause cataracts; moreover, sunglasses provide protection from blue light which increases macular degeneration.

That being said, it’s still important they look good and make you feel good, so here’s a detailed guide on how to get the most from your sunglasses.

Match them to Your Wardrobe

When it comes to sunglasses, the more the merrier. You want a few pairs, so you can work them across several outfits. Don’t worry about cost, as it’s possible to find high-quality affordable designer glasses for women and men. Instead, worry about style and how that style matches what you’re already wearing. You want wear-to-work lenses, casual lenses, and a more upscale style for shopping and lunch meetings.

Keep it subtle, especially when it comes to color. Try and match the color of your shades to your shoes. For women, this could mean a pop of red if you’re sporting red heels. But, don’t overdo it. Red shoes, red sunglasses, and a red shade of lipstick should do it. For men, black and brown are always in style and likely to be the color of your shoes too, but there are instances when this could vary (blue suede shoes for example).

Look for UV Protection

Your sunglasses should a serve a purpose beyond fashion. Choose sunglasses that limit your exposure to harmful UV rays. Health.com recommends that you seek out sunglasses that offer 100 percent UV protection from both UVA and UVB rays. And, the bigger the better. “You can further protect yourself with oversized and wraparound frames that offer more coverage to protect the soft tissue around your eyes (which can help prevent wrinkles).” Sunglasses labeled as “cosmetic” don’t provide any protection from the sun.

Choose a Contrasting Size

It’s best to choose sunglasses that offer contrast from your face shape and size. For example, rounder frames are best for square heads and angular frames are best for round heads. Larger sunglasses look glamorous on small head sizes, while larger heads require less size.

Here are the types of sunglasses and what size/shape they look best on:

  • Aviators – aviators look best on oval shaped heads, but are versatile enough to look great on most people regardless of shape/size. They got their name because they’re popular among pilots and military personnel. These distinct frames feature teardrop-shaped lenses and metal frames, and are typically medium to large in size.
  • Oversized Sunglasses – oversized sunglasses were made popular in the 50s by glamorous movie stars, and that’s the image they still present today. They are better for smaller head shapes.
  • Mirror shades – popularized by Morpheus from the film The Matrix, mirror shades are reflective. Your eyes can’t be seen beyond their reflective mirrored surface. These shades come in a variety of sizes to suit many different people’s needs.
  • Wayfarers – wayfarers are a typical frame, medium-sized with a thick plastic frame. They go by a couple different names, including “Manhattans.” Audrey Hepburn wore Manhattans in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Wayfarers are best suited for medium to large skulls.
  • Teashades – super tiny teashades aren’t designed for small heads, and probably shouldn’t be worn by anyone considering they do little to keep your eyes protected from the sun.

Choosing Lens Color

Finally, you have to choose your lens color. Different lenses have different aesthetic value, such as matching your clothing and shoes or denoting your personality. They also come with some health benefits. Traditional gray lenses reduce light. Red lenses are good for winter weather activities. And, violet lenses provide hunters with increased visibility. What you choose should factor in your needs and your style without breaking the bank.

Hey guys! It’s been a while and I wanted to pop back in with a fun new post! Accessories are my number one favorite thing to shop for because they add personality to any outfit! I personally have a ton of sunglasses and earrings but I love getting inspiration from celebs and their go to accessories. Like me, they love their sunglasses and Ray Bans (Ray Ban Cats are my favorite) are a classic staple that just about every celeb out there wears. Along with sunglasses, light weight scarves, a oversized watch and a great pair of earrings are among the most worn accessories. Scroll through slide show below to see the stylish celebs go to accessories!

Lets start with the most used year round accessory: sunglasses! A classic pair of Ray Bans will never ever go out of style and are seen on stars like Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon and many many more! Click here to see more celebs wearing Ray Bans.

Scarfs are among the list as well and for good reason! They have the ability to add a stylish cozy touch and the fact that they’re avaibale in light weight fabrics make them perfect to tote around in your bag all year round! Zooey Descahnel is the perfect example of how to make the moost of sunglasses and a scarf. Cute coat, sleek boots are a must during the colder months but her accessories give the look a effortless stylish push.

Who doesn’t love a pair of pretty earrings!? They’re the most versatile accessory and they can be worn with any outfit!

Give your outfit a masculine touch with a oversized watch! I don’t think anyone wears it better than the Olsen twins who always wear a oversized gold watch.

A quick grab and go bag is a oversized clutch (this one is perfect)! They feel so glam and they’re easy to stuff inside a bigger bag making them the perfect day to night accessory. Seems like I’m not the only one who loves them because style icons like Olivia Palermo is never seen without one!

The 3 Most Popular Diamond Stud Shapes

Diamond stud earrings are a must have in any women’s wardrobe. They are perfect for all those important occasions in your life. From weddings to birthdays and everything in between. Or reserved for when you want to add a little extra sparkle to a special outfit.

Just looking at sparkling diamond stud earrings is a pleasure. Wearing them a privilege.

So perhaps now is the right time for hinting to your partner what a wonderful romantic gift a pair of diamond studs would make this coming holiday season. With Christmas just around the corner now, lets look at the 3 most popular diamond studs styles for the upcoming holiday season.

  1. Round Diamond Studs

Round diamonds continue to be the number one choice for diamond stud earrings. And it is really no big surprise. Round diamond studs are timeless. They go with any outfit, look beautiful on every woman and yes even celebrities love round diamonds too. Their classical elegance never fades.

It is unlikely this will change any time soon. Round diamond studs will be the most popular choice for ladies purchasing studs for a long time to come.

  1. Cushion Cut Diamond Studs

In recent years cushion cut diamonds have seen rising demand from educated consumers. In large part this is thanks to the internet and all the diamond information available at your fingertips.

Diamond studs expert Bob Jensen from Studs Direct says the popularity of cushion cut diamonds has increased rapidly over the years. ìCushion cut diamonds may overtake princess cuts in popularity soon. We have many customers purchasing cushion cut diamond studs now. Whereas before cushion cuts were not this popularî.

Cushion cut diamonds are now the third most popular choice for diamond stud earrings.

  1. Princess Cut Diamond Studs

No list of popular diamond cuts would be complete without mentioning princess cut diamonds. Princess cut diamonds demand peaked in the early 2000s and demand is steadily decreasing as other diamond shapes become more fashionable.

Whilst the popularity of princess cut diamonds has decreased in recent years there is still strong demand for princess cut studs. They display unique fire and sparkle that is unmatched by other diamond shapes. Making princess cut studs the second most popular diamond studs available

Colored Diamonds Enter Mainstream Fashion

According to diamond industry sources, the popularity of colored diamonds is booming worldwide. Fuelled by a growing consumer appetite for sophisticated rarer diamonds. The internet has created greater awareness for the beauty of colored diamonds.

Blue diamond studs are commonly available from many jewellery vendors. However if you see another lady with blue diamond studs, chances are her diamonds are treated. Natural untreated blue diamond prices are out of reach for most of us.

Treated colored diamonds are cheaper than natural untreated colored diamonds. Some treated colored diamonds still remain expensive. Particularly pink color shades.

But unless you are a diamond expert, it is virtually impossible to tell the difference between treated and untreated diamonds. Usually a hint comes from the price colored diamonds are being offered at compared with the prices of similar diamonds.

Whatever your choice of diamond shape and color. It is important to make sure you purchase diamonds certified by a reputable laboratory and guaranteed to be conflict-free. Nobody wants a conflict diamond!

Celebrity Copycat: Kim Kardashian’s Look for less!

Fall officially started and, while most of us are running around buying our first pumpkin lattes of the seasons and pulling out cozy sweaters, Kim Kardashian is sticking to her usual sexy outfits. I was scrolling through her Instagram and saw her in a lacy bodysuit and boyfriend jeans, which I love but it is a little unrealistic to walk around in, but it’s super sexy to layer under a sweater or blazer. I found a similar bodysuit at Forever21 and got Kim Kardashian’s Look for less and another version in a more “normal” fashion.
