Celebrity Copycat: Kourtney Kardashian’s Look for Less!

Kourtney KArdashian pregnancy style is so effortless and always fabulous!  I personally think she dresses better when pregnant it’s a bit sexier and feminine as opposed to her non-pregnant quirky style.  Her she is leaving a NY hotel wearing a jumper from the Kardashian Kollection.  If you can pull them off jumpers are a comfy, stylish option in pregnancy and can be worn post baby as well.  Tip: looking to get add a blazer for the office or a denim jacket and sandals for a chilly night.  Get the exact jumper and the remaining outfit pieces for less.  *** product info below the pic

A little late on posting this. 🙂 Hope everyone is having a great week! Here’s a quote that got me moving this week: “Indecision and delays are the parents of failure.” ~ George Canning
This weeks flowers.

Summer FLowers

I’ve bought a piece or two from the Kardahsian Kollection at Sears but I’ve never really paid too much attention to their line of denim or shoes until this weekend. I went to do some shopping for a summer must have post and I totally fell for their denim and snagged myself a pair of heels. SO SO comfy and I love that they have a bootie look to them (you can see full outfit here).

Kardashian Kollection Heels

I’ve never ever been a fan of cooking but lately I’ve been having so much fun cooking for the boys. I decided to try out some brussels sprout this week. I sauteed them in olive oil and added salt and pepper. I’m not sure if I’m totally sold on them. lol They look a lot yummier than they tasted so I’m going to look for another recipe.

Joseph is starting to reach out and grab stuff and it’s so fun to watch him. I caught him grabbing a bag of limes and the look on his face was hilarious.  Below are some CUTE stuff I found on clearance at Sears.  The crab romper was only $5, the striped romper $8, the pj’s $6 and the infantino sling (perfect for traveling) only $30.

Yep that’s a kettlebell! I have got to kick into high gear and lose some weight and get back into shape. I’ve used the kettlebell before and it makes for a killer work out.

Is 90’s Mania Over? As if!

July 10, 2014 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

If street fashion, magazines, blogs and the latest runway shows are any indicator, the 1990’s fashion trend is still in full effect. To this, I say: woohoo! While the resurgence of Grunge 2.0 gets plenty of flak, I’m still stoked to see my favorite childhood and adolescent garments popping back up on savvy fashionistas and in glossy publications. For those experiencing these fads for the first time, let’s do a quick primer on 90’s summer fashions – both the lovely and the ludicrous…

Bike shorts are back, baby – feel free to leave the bicycle at home. While some say that the brightly colored, skin-tight shorts don’t look good on anybody, I say it can be achieved if you want it bad enough. Pair these funky shorts with a plain, long white tank (or short dress) that covers at least most of your bum. Because the pattern and style of these shorts scream louder than Fay Wray in King Kong, it will only work with an otherwise minimalistic outfit. Think plain black flip flops, minimalistic tribal jewelry and sleek hair.

Horn buns…or does this hairstyle have an actual name? Whatever it is called, I would say this look is staying in the past. Instead of a bunch of small buns all over your head, go for just two. Better yet, try a twisty one like Kate Moss in the photo below.

Kate Moss

20 years later, platform shoes are still hazardous to your health,- especially the velvet variety. I know, I know – they looked great under your big baggy pants while raving in the nineties.

If you are going to try to pull off the platform, go for something a little more cute and doll-like such as the Syndrome Kitten shoes below.  Syndrome Kitten Platform Shoes – $31 at SyndromStore.com

Slip dresses: These used to be worn as real dresses. No white ‘baby tee’ underneath required. Some still advocate for the slip-as-dress style, but can it be done without looking like you just rolled out of bed and decided to take your chances with something a little more comfortable?

For a little more polished and elegant sophistication, and a little less Courtney Love, try covering up a bit with a light weight pea-coat and standard pumps.

Denim overall shorts appear to have become much more tailored than they were in the nineties. I love them with a tight, black and white striped t-shirt underneath.

Crop-tops – evidently, bare midriffs never go out of style. This is one of the 90s fashion trends that I plan on fully embracing once I finally make it through that Jillian Michaels ab-workout DVD.

Cat-eye sunglasses are also making a comeback, but be warned – they can kinda make you look bitchy. Of course this guy above is an exception. Like most things in the nineties, Kurt Cobain pulled it off. Guys wanted to look as cool as him, and women dreamed he would look in their direction of the mosh pit.

Forget “mom jeans” – it’s all about the “dad jeans” in the above photo. If you can rock them with confidence like Wynona Ryder, then go for it. Of course, don’t attempt to rock the dad jeans while wearing the shoe atrocity shown below.

REALLY, sporty slide sandals and socks?! Again? REALLY?! When will people learn the objective truth that socks with sandals is never okay?

Be bold with mixing prints and patterns. I, for one, have never feared the dreaded ‘pattern overload’. I say, BRING IT. It especially works with florals, you just have to play with the size of the prints and go with a mix that matches, or mismatches in the right way.

Bodysuits: the new (old) foundational undergarment. This trend is alive and well, but I just can’t get with this one. I assume it would be an uncomfortable pain in the butt, why not just tuck in your shirt? Why do you have to pretend you are an amateur gymnast while snapping your shirt together at the crotch? What do I know though? I have heard they are super comfortable and allow for that perfectly tucked in look even with the most stubborn skirts.

Kool-aid colored hair is evidently ‘back in the saddle again’… But the jury’s still out on face jewels. Also, there are those tiny horn buns again. Gwen Stefani looks good regardless, but will you be as lucky?

Tons of ear piercings became the thing to do with your ears in the 90s. Now-a-days, it isn’t exactly a trend, but you have to ask yourself a serious question: Is the ear-to-nose-ring chain back in style yet?

Daisies, daisies everywhere: currently omnipresent at every single teenybopper, hip mall store, which I am stoked to see. The daisy trend never left the boundaries of my heart. I guess that is true of most 90s fashion.

Readers, what trends from the 90s will you never let go of?

The Summer Hot List

July 9, 2014 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

My kids have been on their summer break since June 1 and it wasn’t until last week that we decided what we were doing for our vacation. We’ve decided on a “staycation” to enjoy the sites and sounds around our neck of the woods. I’ve been living in the Tampa Bay area for over 10 years and not once have I actually went and explored all the fun things to do, like swim with manatees or visit St. Augustine. The entire family is super excited about the little staycation because they get to come home every night and hang out with friends – the best of both worlds! I on the other hand am excited about shopping for my little trip! I decided to hold off until the Fourth of July weekend to shop for my summer hot list because I knew Sears would go all out with their sales!

Everything I bought was significantly marked down which is great because not can you shop for your vacation but you can also get great deals on some fall items as well. Clearance had an additional 30% off and most sandals were buy one get one free! I managed to score myself 5 outfits, two sandals, heels and a tote,

So here’s my break down whenever I pack to travel: I like to bring pieces that can be worn more than once in a few different outfits. Not only does it save space but it also saves me some extra cash. When I saw this sheer wrap top for only $10 I immeditely knew I can wear it dressed up or down.

In my first and favorite look, I decided to dress up the blouse with my Kardashian Kollection heels and Studio S tote; a black pencil skirt that also converts to a dress  and a cami (to give it the illusion of a dress only comfier).

For my second look I will be wearing the blouse with jacquard shorts, a white tank and sandals and for my third look I will be wearing a white pencil skirt, a white tank and sandals. Sort of a day time version of my first look. That’s three whole outfits with one blouse that cost $10.

For my fourth outfit I bought a striped dress for only $12.99 and a denim jacket from the Kardashian Kollection. A perfect little dress that can also double as a coverup.

For my final look I got a paisley print top and white Kardashian Kollection (I LOVE their line of denim) shorts.

I couldn’t possibly go on vacation without a swimsuit so I picked up this adorable retro looking swimsuit with polka dots. It’s a one piece and it covers up the belly and cost only $15.99 – SCORE!

Trend For Less: Pearls

July 7, 2014 by

When I was little, every time I saw my mom put on a strand of pearls I immediately thought she was going somewhere fancy. I always thought it was a bummer that something so pretty had to be saved for a special night and her response was always the same, “what do I need pearls for when I’m in jeans running errands every day?” That pretty much shaped what I thought of pearls for most of my adult life – pearls are too fancy for every day use.

Chanel Pearl Choker

That’s definitely not the case anymore. In the past couple of months the pearl has been popping up everywhere in a much edgier way. Chanel debuted its choker with massive sized pearls and Christian Dior came out with gorgeous double sided pearl studs. Looking to add some pearls to your every day looks? Look for styles with more details like studs and chains. Pair them with your favorite jeans and tees or stick to a little black dress and add the updated strand of pearl.

Five Things

Excited to take Joseph to the beach for the first time this week –  hope everyone enjoys this Fourth of July weekend!

I’ve never really liked carnations but when I saw these dusty rose colored carnations I fell in love! The color has a romantic vintage feel that I couldn’t resist.

five things

Joseph and I LOVE this blue knit blanket my aunt made for him.

Nothing like feeding your baby their first solid food! Joseph ate like a champ just like I thought he would.  Not the greatest shot of him but it was the best I could get because he wouldn’t stop moving.

Five Things

All I use during the summer for a little lip color.

Five Things

I’ve been trying to be good about my eating habits because I really would love to lose all this baby weight.  One of the biggest changes I’ve made is swapping out a cup of mid-day coffee with a cup of iced water with lime.  Lime juice in cold water  not only promotes weight loss but it’s also an excellent anti-oxidant.
