Enter the Fairytale: Snow White Is Back On Trend

November 28, 2013 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

Maybe we’re all getting in the mood for Christmas, but white is a HUGE trend at the moment. This angelic shade certainly has an innocent, fairytale feel to it. And although there’s a greater chance of slopping your dinner down your front and regretting it forever, there’s no doubt that – in style terms – it’s worth the risk.  For inspiration, let’s take a look at the red carpet!

Jennifer Lawrence

This beautiful satin gown by Christian Dior was worn by Jennifer for the UK premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. We love the gorgeous smattering of colour down the one side, as well as the backless feature. And whoever said Jennifer’s new ‘do was a big no should re-evaluate some stuff.

Rooney Mara

We all know her from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but Rooney Mara stunned us at Rome’s Film Festival (for the premiere of Her) with her stunning Balenciaga gown. The oversized collar and sheer skirt hit all the right notes.

Allison Williams

Gowns are all very well and good but why not power dress in a white t-shirt and trouser set like Allison Williams? This Calvin Klein two-piece is sophisticated and simple – perfect for a lunch with L’Oreal Paris.

Emma Watson

Off the shoulder is a gorgeous cut – we don’t know why we don’t see it more often. Emma Watson supports it perfectly, with a gorgeous clutch purse and lovely band detailing. Plus, look at that foot candy! This ensemble is a hit on so many levels.

Taylor Swift

We rarely see a fashion faux pas from Miss Swift. We love how she knows how to balance flesh-showing with a little leg and a plunging mesh panel. This lady always looks classy and beautifully presented, so we weren’t surprised to see her in this white number.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett nails a fantastical gown here – both modern and ethereal, it looks charming with the full white clutch purse and her sandals. A current day Galadriel in the flesh! But we expected nothing less.

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda stays chic in Vegas with a long-sleeved white top layered over a Stella McCartney skirt, to promote her new film, Lovelace – anything more ostentatious may have been a bit inappropriate! We adore the pairing with grey Calvin Klein heels – the whole ensemble is modest, which is fantastic.

Elle Fanning

This textured, brocade white dress gives a whole new dimension to ‘all white’ fashion. We even kind of like the lace up boots and say ‘boo’ to the naysayers. At the wee age of just 15 years old, we bow to your style and impressive acting career.

AnnaSophia Robb

A pint-sized Carrie Bradshaw, AnnaSophia has upped the ante with not just feather details but lace and sparkles too. This little white dress is cutely matched with a pair of silver heels, which has truly done her screen alter ego justice.

Great Look For The Holidays: Ryan Gosling’s Look for Less!

November 27, 2013 by
Filed under Boys on the Side

Call me old fashioned but I still believe that during the holidays a man should be sharply dressed.  Doesn’t have to be anything too fussy or uncomfortable but definitely a step up from your everyday jeans and a pullover.  And if you’re like me, convincing the man in your life (or in my case men if you count my boys) it’s not an easy task.  They’re all about the comfort and don’t see anything wrong with walking around in their favorite jeans (or shorts) and tee.  I try my best to motivate them into something a little more stylish by simply dressing them myself.  Where do I get my motivation?  From my favorite celebs of course!  This outfit I used as inspiration is perfection and it doesn’t hurt that Ryan Gosling is wearing it.  It has all the right details like the dress shirt and slacks, but its kicked up a notch with fab shoes, matching belt and a sleek haircut.  SO easy to recreate and it’s not something that will leave your man wiggling in discomfort all day long.  Tip:  This is a simple outfit and the most important focus is on the  shirt.  So first shop his closet for  the other like the slacks that he might already have before you head out to buy – and always hit up your local stores like Target first.  They have a great selection of affordable accessories.

I love that leather is huge this season.  Leather is a trend that instantly makes things look more chic, edgy and if you buy the right piece more expensive!  For this three way I chose a pair of leather panel pants from Yesstyle in a gorgeous shade or burgundy.  A luxurious color that is the perfect companion for your fall and winter sweaters and super easy to dress up or down.  Tip:  Style leather pants like a pair of leggings and keep the tops simple and not too tight. Check out the 3 looks below.

Cozy these pants up with a faux fur vest and flannel.  It’s casual, comfy with a touch of glam.

You can also keep it simple and classic with a chunky knit sweater and sexy pumps.

Creative Flower Girl Ideas

November 23, 2013 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

More often flower girls can be the show stoppers of your wedding.  They’re too cute to behold in their curly locks and flower halos and pretty little flower girl dresses.

image

Up their cuteness level one notch higher by letting them do something different on your wedding day. Here are some ideas for giving their flower girl job a fanciful twist:
Instead of letting them toss petals on the aisle, let them keep the basket filled with flower blooms or carry a small bouquet of lovely flowers or a lovely corsage what a picture perfect sight.

Image
Let your flower girls blow bubbles in lieu of the customary petal tossing. Or tote up the fun and whimsical factor by adding pops of color to your wedding by having them carry bright jumbo balloons in cheerful brilliant hues like marigold yellow or hot pink. This is going to be a wedding to remember especially if you dress up your flower girl in a flowy dress in the same bubbly hues as the oversized balloons.

image
For whimsical touches on your wedding have your flower girls genuinely smile by letting them carry pinwheels. As the breeze blows the pinwheels, the sight will surely elicit genuine smiles and giddy giggles from the cute little ones. It’s a sweet idea and it’s definitely uber fun not just for the flower girls but for everyone.

image
Getting married outdoors? Shade your flower girls from the sun’s heat by letting them hold fancy colored parasols. Add a sweet message on the parasols for everyone to read.

image
Your flower girls are too little? Let them ride on a fancy wagon then deck out the wagon with lots of flowers and blooms. Let the ring bearer ride along for double fun.

image
Let your flower girls carry dozens of pretty flower garlands instead of flower baskets. Let them hold hands as they walk down the aisle. Don’t forget to let them wear flower halos to complete the perfectly cute flower girl look.

image
Inviting your pets to the wedding? Let your flower girl hold its leash – festoon the leash with flowers and sprigs and all things beautiful.

image
In lieu of the traditional baskets filled with petals let your flower girls carry fanciful signs to prepare everyone for the bride’s entrance. Or to carry messages of romantic love.

Maxi Dress From Day To Night

November 21, 2013 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

If there’s one thing I’ve learned this pregnancy it’s that a maxi dress is your best friend.  I’ve always worn them but never have I appreciated them as much as I have these past couple of months.  Besides being the comfiest thing to wear in between sizes, they’re SO versatile and great for post baby as well.  This one from meet mark has been sitting in my closet forever because it was too big but now it’s a real life saver. I LOVE the blue and its lace cap sleeves.  I’ve worn it a ton of times in so many different ways for day and night.  For day I wear it with my green anorak, chain link necklace and my one of my favorite lucky brand bag (which comes in handy to when switching out heels for flats when your feet can’t take it anymore). For night, I just added a sparkly necklace, metallic satchel and took off the jacket.

What I’m Wearing: Blue Maxi Dress c/o meet mark | Green Anorak from Ross (also seen here) | Clear Stone Necklace (also seen here)  $10 from Target| Gold Satchel also seen here – $8.98 from Target.com | Chain Link Necklace c/o Twisted Silver | Animal Print Heels  – $14.99 at Target.com | Bag from Lucky Brand | Timex watch c/o Timex | Penny Wayfarer Sunglasses (also seen here) c/o Stun Sunglasses

Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

Looking for a chic top to pair with your denim for the holidays?  Try any one these stylish turtlenecks for a casual yet glam look.  Tip: for a dressy feel just add some plaid or velvet bottoms, sparkly jewelry and a sexy red lip. 🙂

A embroidered turtle neck top will instantly give a denim pencil skirt a more expensive chic feel.

Embroidered Turtleneck Top – $38

A frill panel top will give a pair of light washed distressed jeans a girly touch.

Frill Panel Top – $35

Pair this striped turtleneck with leather elbow patches with your favorite skinny jeans and over the knee boots.

Leather Elbow Patch Top – $32

This piece is actually a dress but I love the idea of it with light colored denim and either pumps of booties for a quirky look.

Turtleneck Open Knit Dress – $50

A lace panel top can dress up a pair of gray skinny jeans.  Pair with ballerina flats for a comfy look.

Lace Panel Turtleneck – $38

Celebrity Copycat: Kourtney Kardashian’s Look for $100!

November 14, 2013 by

Loved Kourtney Kardashian’s on the go mom style!  Her outfits were sexy and comfortable, and they never looked like maternity/mom wear making her outfits perfect for anyone!  This particular look is a fave because it manages to pull together three key fall pieces: quilted leather, riding boots and the always classic stripes.

Striped Ruche Top – $13.99 | Quilted Faux Leather Jacket – $29.99 | Riding Boots – $29.99 but in store $19.99 if you’re a member | Leggings – $7.99 | Studded Hobo Bag – $37.80

I really cant pick a favorite piece this time i love them all. The striped tunic with ruching is super flattering, chic and only $13.99.  The quilted faux leather jacket is a total must have this season and only $29.99.  The riding boots are amazing and only $19.99 with loyal customer points, the hobo bag with metal details was on sale for $37.80, and the seamless leggings were $7.99.  The total was around $109 but with the points I had on my Sears cards the total came to $98!!  Another easy outfit to work into other pieces in your closet and can be worn right through winter all the way through spring.

Check out how I plan to wear the stripe tunic for day and night with some of the pieces from last weeks copycat.

I had so much fun recreating these outfits and I look forward to styling them post baby this spring. 🙂
