Stylish Cravings: Modcloth’s Following Dreams Sweater

I love me a great layering piece like the following dreams sweater from Modcloth.  Perfect to drape over a pretty dress or jacket, layer under a jumper or blazer or even just slung around your hips.  I took one look at it and immediately knew that I would style it for a fun quirky fall look.  First I added a flirty a-line dress, must have suede booties, denim jacket and a cozy knit beret and convertible gloves. To finish off the look the following dreams sweater would be draped over the denim jacket with the adorable kittie tote at your side.

Follow Dreams Sweater  | A-Line Dress | Denim Jacket | Booties | Knit Beret | Convertible Gloves | Tote

Lots of great fall pieces that can be worn a ton of different ways in just one outfit.  For a dressier version you can easily add a sequin mini, tights and pumps or go casual with flared jeans, wedges and a blazer. Either way you can’t go wrong with this cute versatile sweater.

Monday Mani: Sparkles Always Makes Things Better

My favorite nail polishes are the dark vampy type: it can be a deep dark green, a oxblood burgundy or the new classic black.  This week I decided to mix my favorite forest green by cosmetic arts that I bought at Ross for only $1.99.   It’s amazing I love that it’s really smooth and barely needs a second coat and  I also used Revlon’s Nail Art in ulterior motif.  I normally would have done the green on it’s own but it’s Halloween this week and my birthday is the day after  so I wanted something a little more fun and what better way than with sparkles!  Below are the steps to my mani.

What I used:

Revlon Ulterior Motif

Wet n Wild Clear Polish

Cosmetic Art #34

1. I applied one thick coat of clear polish.

2. Two coats of the green (only half the nail on the ring fingers) and let dry.

3. Apply 3 coats of the sparkle end of Ulterior Motif to the ring fingers.

4. After all the nails are dry lights brush the sparkle along the sides of nails.  I formed a v to create a pattern but it’s also very pretty if you apply sporadically.

When I lived in Jersey I use to buy and carve about 6 pumpkins for Halloween but there’s something about Florida and the heat that just takes the fun away from the carving (and any fall activity).  This year I wanted to try something different so I took to Pinterest to find some inspiration and as usual I found a ton!  Not sure how or if I will even buy and decorate/carve any pumpkins this year but if I do I will definitely post in the meantime enjoy the adorable inspiration below!

Celebrity Copycat: Jessica Alba’s Look for Under $100!

October 23, 2013 by

I love bargain shopping and I love it even more when it’s a challenge!  I was approached by Kmart and Sears to put together 4 celeb looks under $100 each and I immediately jumped at the opportunity.  I knew exactly which look I wanted to recreate based off a sweater I had seen at brand spanking new Kmart I was shopping at a couple of weeks ago.  It was a chunky knit cowl neck neck with three quarter sleeves (perfect for fall) that I really wanted but passed because I didn’t think I could fit into it.  Well, I went back found a size that fit my bump perfectly along with a TON of others pieces that I LOVE and will use throught fall right into winter, throughout my pregnancy and hopefully once I lose some weight again.

While I was shopping at Kmart I’ve got to be honest I was shocked at the selection at the new spot in Tampa.  They literally have a little bit of everything for everyone but what really impressed me was the selection of women’s clothing.  They had just about every line that my local Kmart didn’t carry.  They had everything from Nicki Minaj’s new line which I thought was shockingly cute with an enormous selection of jewelry to Jaclyn Smith’s line that surprised me even it had adorable sweaters and and jackets that I fell in love with…who knew!

I really had a hard time picking one outfit but I finally setled to do a copycat on  Jessica Alba cute casual look with pieces that I can easily wear with just about anything else in my closet and the entire outfit is under $100!   Check it out below:

What I’m Wearing: Jaclyn Smith Cowl Neck Sweater  – $29.99 on sale for $24.99 | Bongo Leggings – $10 | Brown Riding Boots – $39.99 BOGO 50% off last weekend so I only paid $20 | Studded Satchel – $18.74 with 25% off

Stay tuned for the next copycat under $100 coming next week!
I received compensation on behalf of Kmart but the opinions expressed herein are those of the author and are not indicative of the opinions or positions of Kmart.

Double Breasted Cape Styled Three Ways

Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

I love a classic cape!  Styling them is a cinch and takes any outfit to a sophisticated level.  I personally like a solid color because they’re easier to wear a ton of different ways.  The idea is to keep what you wear underneath them unfussy.  Keep sleeves long and pair with skinny jeans (or leather leggings for a edgy touch), a shift dress and even a maxi skirt.  Check out my favorite cape from Yesstyle for only $50 styled three ways.

Waxed skinnies and a leopard print sweater will give any cape a edgy feel.

Cape – $50 | Leopard Print Sweater – $24.99 | Waxed Skinny Jeans – $80  | Booties – $375 | Watch and Bracelet Set – $44 | Loop Satchel – $61

A Midi dress (another fall fave) will add a sexy touch to the classic cape.

Cape – $50  | Long Sleeve Midi Dress – $45 | Booties – $375 | Watch and Bracelet Set – $44 | Michael Kors Clutch – $108

For a casual look add a chambray top and graphic ankle pants to your  cape.

Cape – $50  | Chambray Top – $19.99 | Ankle Pants – $11 | Booties – $375 | | Watch and Bracelet Set – $44 | Necklace – $25 | Tote – $36

Yesstyle Beauty Sample Box Review

October 19, 2013 by

If you’re like me and love trying out new beauty brand products then the Yesstyle Beauty Sample Box is for you!  It’s generously sized samples are from luxurious brands such as Laneige and Skin Food.  The samples come in an adorable box perfect to store your new goodies (or makeup) and it’s actually a great gift idea for the beauty lover in your life or a new mom who might need some pampering.  Check out the products below.

Give yourself a mini facial with the three piece sample by GMDANSU.  It contains an herbal mask with sheep placenta, serum and moisturinzing cream.  This was probably my favorite sample – it left my skin SO soft, refreshed and the serum smells amazing!

The Laneige sleeping pack is a night time treatment that’s perfect for those with oily acne prone skin like me.  It’s really unlike most night time moisturizers and again it smells amazing!  I used it a few times and didn’t have any issues with breaking out and that’s a big deal because my skin gets really oily at night and breaks out even more when I’m pregnant.

Skin Food Whitening Gift Set contains toner and emulsion.  Omija herb complex naturally lightens and evens skin tone.

The Juicy Mask Sheets are self explanatory.  I LOVE having tons of different masks handy for those stressful days where my skin needs a little pampering.

This well sized sample of Hot Burning body gel is definitely not enough to help me out so I didn’t give it a great shot but it’s ridiculously refreshing for long days on your feet and like every other product in the box it has a great scent.  Not sure if it will really help my body lines lol but it is One of the best pampering products in the box.

Innisfree Green Tea Serum. The active ingredient of green tea seed locks moisture right next to the skin’s surface, while panthenol and batain boost skin’s natural ability to produce moisture. I decided to give this one a shot before applying my makeup and it worked like a charm!  Smoothes on evenly and dried quickly.

All in all this is a luxurious beauty sample box worth way more than $25 and gives you a months worth of pampering  – I definitely recommend it.  For more information on the products or the beauty box click here.
