Flip Flops for Him & Her

Flip flops are a summer staple and if you’re like me and live in FL then it’s a 365 day a year staple.  I’m ALWAYS on the lookout for a new pair for me and my boys.  My entire family is more often than not seen wearing flip flops and we have a ton of different styles to keep our options open.  Flip flops are meant to be easy, comfortable and, if you buy the right ones, stylish!  For the most part I love a pair of brown leather flip flops but believe it or not I often have a hard time finding just the right ones.  Much of the time the leather is too tough or the color is never quite what I want.  I wear brown because of the earthy vibe and Reef Sandals have an amazing selection of this type and more!  I love the little details they put into them (check out the adorable crotchet pair below) and the soles are thick and comfy making them durable which means I can wear them to death!

My boys, on the other hand, have two requirements when it comes to their flip flops: comfort and durability.  They use their sandals hard from running around the beach, in the water and even playing basketball in them!  The Reef Fanning flip flops are absolutely perfect for this kind of wear and tear.  They’re not your typical flat flip flop… these babies have arch support with a molded eva footbed and a heel airbag.

Check out some of my favorite styles and what to wear them with below.

These crotchet pairs are adorable and perfect with anything from a maxi dress to rolled-up boyfriend jeans.

These are the perfect chocolate brown flip flops!  I love that they’re suede and look more expensive than $36.  Wear with all of your summer favorite dresses or shorts.

The Moonlight Palms sandals is stylish and comfy!  Pair with cut off shorts and a neon top for a fun look.

Men are typically practical and don’t need a ton of different looking shoes, so thankfully the fanning reefs have a ton of colors to choose from.  Boys can pair these with basketball shorts and a fitted white muscle tee or chinos and a striped top – you really can’t go wrong.

Tie Neck Blouse Styled Three Ways

Tie neck blouses have been around for a while but I’ve never owned one simply because I could never find one that had as many details as this one from Yesstyle.  It’s fitted at the waist (which is very important because every time I’ve tried a tie neck blouse it was slouchy), the three quarter puff sleeve looks a lot more expensive than $16 and the fabric makes it easy to dress up or down.  Might as well get all 3 colors!  Check out three looks featuring the tie neck blouse below.

A tie neck blouse can instantly dress up your denim shorts.  Pair with wedges for a sexy leggy look.

Tie Neck Blouse – $16.20 | Denim Hot Pants – $56 | Steve Madden Wedges – $96.95 | Betsey Johnson Cross Body Bag – $49.95

Pair with wide leg trousers and platforms for a retro look.

Tie Neck Blouse – $16.20  | Wide Leg Trousers – $90 | Studded Bowling Bag – $60 | Platform Wedges – $29 | Bangles – $28

A pencil skirt and tie neck blouse are perfect for a work chic look.

Tie Neck Blouse – $16.20 | Pink Pencil Skirt – $120 | Fold Over Satchel – $73 | Sandals – $55

Celebrity Copycat: Heidi Klum’s Look for Less!

I never really paid much attention to Heidi Klum’s style; it always seemed either a bit boring or a bit over the top.  That’s not the case with this outfit!  I like the combo of the distressed shorts classed up a bit with a pretty blouse and finished off with casual sandals.  Great outfit to take on vacation and just about anyone can wear it.

Floral Print Blouse – $25.99 at Zara.com | Distressed Shorts – $12.50 at Moddeals.com | Birkenstocks – $120 at Modcloth.com | Lace Trim Tote – $58 at Yesstyle.com | Alfani Bangles – $28 at Macys.com

Walgreens Beauty Box Review

July 12, 2013 by

I mentioned before that I visit my local Walgreens probably two to three times a week. I figure if I’m going to shop I might as well get something out of it…like points from my Walgreens Balance™ Rewards card!  I try my best to save up points and for the most part I use them for the majority of my beauty products. But sometimes it’s nice to be able to try products out first before you buy (even though Walgreen’s has an amazing return system).  And that’s the genius behind Walgreens Beauty Box – especially for those point savers like me.  The Walgreens Beauty Box is a complimentary gift (valid from 7/1 while supplies last) when you spend $30 on participating beauty products. Sign up for a Balance Rewards card at Walgreens, then spend $30 on participating beauty products (details here) and then you can easily redeem your points online to get your free Beauty Box!

I was lucky enough to get mine in the mail to try out and I was so excited to open it up and try out all the goodies (and there was lots of them!).  My box included: two different types of BB creams. The first BB cream was Maybelline’s Dream Fresh and it had enough for two applications.  The second was the L’oreal Magic Skin Beautfier BB (a tad bit smaller but handy none the less).  They both do the trick and do it well.  Although they both blur imperfections flawlessly (especially redness) if I had to choose it would be Maybelline’s because it was exactly the way I like my makeup to feel (almost non-existent, which is perfect for summer).

In the beauty box was also a sample of Garnier’s Ultra Lift Tightener and Cream with a $2 coupon.  I’ve been dying to try this out for a while but I’ve been waiting until I actually ran out of my other bazillion products.  It’s a serum, my favorite type of moisturizer, and after one application it left my skin noticeably softer and feeling refreshed.  I was worried that the retinol would irritate my sensitive skin but I had no problem at all.

Also in my box was a sample of Aveeno lotion/sunscreen and coupon for $1.  This had to be my favorite sample in the box because I live in Florida and need to constantly reapply sunscreen. I’m really picky with lotions that contain sunscreen because they tend to either smell too strong or be somewhat sticky – this one was neither.  I actually really liked the mild fragrance, it was not sticky at all and more importantly it was smooth to apply.

Lastly, I also received in my box a Schick Hydro Silk Disposable.  It’s summer and what girl can’t use a handy new razor, especially one that hydrates your skin at the same time – win win!

Beauty can be found anywhere if you know where to look and, more importantly, who to ask. Walgreens has Beauty Advisors in every store, making expert beauty advice more accessible than ever. With Balance™ Rewards, spend $30 in store on participating beauty products and get a sample box by mail with this season’s best beauty finds. Learn more at Walgreens.com/BeautyWithin

Celebrity Copycat: Rachel Zoe’s Look for Less!

Maxi dresses are a vital part of any woman’s  stylish wardrobe, especially during the summer.  The options are endless, but I have a weakness for a flowing white evening maxi dress (it has this boho goddess feel that just works!).  Check out my favorite celeb looks and the dress for less.

I couldn’t just pick one celeb favorite but I did find one dress that was just gorgeous!  The elaborate details on the evening dress make it look worth WAY more that just $120.  What I particularly like about the dress is the detachable train that looks like something a modern day Stevie Nicks would wear on a red carpet.

Maxi Evening Dress- $120.99 at JJsHouse.com

There you have it two inspirations and one beautiful boho maxi dress now all you need is a pair of funky platforms, a clutch and you’re good to go!

Platforms – $89.99 at Heels.com | Metallic Clutch – $20 at Zara.com | Super Betsey Clutch – $88 at BetseyJohnson.com

It’s time to get ready for a nationwide party at Walgreens! Over 5000+ stores will host a “Night at the W” with special in-store in events in hot spots like Chicago’s Bucktown flagship as well as LA’s Sunset and Vine store (wish I was near that one!)  If you’ve haven’t heard about The Night at the W, it’s a special beauty event at Walgreens beauty departments giving customers the opportunity to speak one on one with a specially trained beauty advisor. During the event customers will also have access to great deals on L’ Oreal Hair, cosmetic and nail products AND free samples (while supplies last). This time it’s being held on July 25, 2013 from 4PM to 9PM and if you have a twitter account (which you should!) then you can tweet #headturninglooks and share your fave summer look for a chance to snag a free Colour Riche Turquoise & Tangerine gift from Loreal Paris and Walgreens.

I absolutely love these special events and I TRY to save up all my Walgreens points. Not only are they incredibly fun nights to shop, it’s a perfect time to take advantage of their great deals not only for me but also my kids who absolutely love the Walgreens toy section.

Some of the products available at the event will be:

L’Oreal Advanced Haircare Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm

L’Oreal Advanced Haircare Total Repair 5 Multi-Restorative Dry Oil

L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder

L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara (I personally use and love this mascara!)

Mi Instalife: 6/27-7/3

I’ve been pretty busy moving and getting radjusting to my new house.  I haven’t been able to take any photos of outfits and its been raining for about two weeks straight but I’ve been trying to snap some pics.  Check out some of my Instagram shots below

In the middle of a food run for the hungry movers I found this striped piggy at Walmart and had to have it!

Even though I didn’t do any major lifting I still needed a break. 🙂

Here’s William with his new guitar.  I still remember when he was three how he would wake up every morning put on his Shrek cd, grab his little guitar and sing his heart out.  🙂

One of the very first things I hung was my favorite metallic mirror.

It’s been raining on and off for almost two weeks…I love it and I also love the new view from my backyard.

During the move I happen to find a box of old shoes and in it were my gold metallic flats that I’ve been looking for.  YAY! 🙂

Hope everyone has a fun Fourth of July!
