Ashley Tisdales outfit is the perfect example of how a pair of sleek booties can transform a outfit. Sexy messy updo, Cute tee, cut off shorts, amazing bright bag and booties make for a edgy summer look. Tip: Looking for a more reserved version of this look? Simply swap out the cut off shorts with bermuda shorts (a white pair would be chic) and then add a boyfriend blazer over the muscle tee.
I’m loving the fact that this year it’s been really easy to transition shoes through the year making it easier to justify the amount of shoes I buy! Booties that you wore with your sweaters are being paired with shorts and the classic oxford is proving to have just as much staying power. They’re being seen on celebrities like Taylor Swift, Ashlee Simpson with everything from skirts, dresses, shorts or rolled up jeans. I love the masculine touch it can give any outfit without looking rugged or breaking the femininity of an outfit – in fact it gives it a preppy feel. Yeswalker has the perfect pair of oxfords and they’re BOGO (buy get one) so you can get yourself two pairs and break them in for the fall because they will definitely be around!

I can’t believe that school starts in less than a month down here in Florida and in September for a majority of others. It’s gone by way too fast but with the sadness of summer being almost over comes the excitement of some fall favorite’s like football, back to school shopping and for girls shopping for homecoming dresses! I have a bunch of boys so I don’t exactly have the pleasure of going out shopping for a pretty dress but I fondly recall my school dances and I do wish I had the selection girls have now a day. With a little savvy shopping, girls can buy a unique dress as opposed to the carbon copies I found lined in the boutique store fronts in Brooklyn, and most dresses today can be worn a ton of other times (if you don’t go too frilly).
Check out some tips on picking a unique homecoming dress under $200 that can be worn more than once. I also included some accessories and tips on what to wear them with below.
Look for little details like beading or tulle that make a dress look more expensive and can dressed up now or down later on.
I know girls love a floor length dress because it feels glamorous, but if you want to get the most for your dollar skip them. If not shop online shops for dresses under $100 and look for simple lines so they won’t quickly go out of style.
Avoid satin. Yes they look expensive and pretty but they also scream formal and most girls will have some form of satin on. Instead look for dresses in a matte jersey, with some tulle or if you have to have satin, look for ones with some ruching for a flirty feel.
This is where you can go all out! There’s a ton of affordable accessories out there so pile it on and have fun! Try big colorful necklaces for a fun pop of color; add sparkly jewelry to bright dresses or try some simple gold jewelry that you can wear over and over again.
Use online shoe stores to your benefit. It’s almost impossible not to find a pair of stylish shoes under $100 and in a lot of cases you can even get a second pair free or half off . But make sure you order early in case you need to exchange them.
Even in a heat wave Olivia Palermo manages to look chic! I like that she paired her flirty dress with ballerina flats instead of sandals to keep the outfit polished. All of Olivia’s outfits are easy to wear whether day or night just like this one – simply swap out flats for sexy heels, swipe on some red lipstick and add a black blazer for cooler nights.

For me, waking up with wide awake and fresh eyes is a thing of the past. Even if I get my eight hours of sleep, I still need a little help from my mascara. I have a five minute makeup routine that I use year round, but during the summer it always needs a little tweaking. The humidity doesn’t let my powder foundation stay put, lipstick never ever sounds appealing if you’re sweating all day, and my trusty mascara needs a little more staying power. Now when I have a tan I can get away with just mascara, but it needs to withstand the 100 degree weather and even a day at the beach (yes, I wear mascara even to the beach). Check out my five tips to keep your makeup looking fresh all summer long!
Now is the time to sport your tan, and ditch the heavy foundation or powders. Try a tinted moisturizer of a BB cream with SPF, a light cheek stain or, even better for your skin, a bronzing powder. Tip: focus on the parts where the sun naturally hits the bridge of your nose, temple and top of cheeks for a natural look.
Save your pretty colored lipsticks for the cooler weather or try dabbing a little on your cheeks. On your lips use lip gloss and balms for a nude lip to compliment your summer skin routine. Tip: I’ve mentioned here how I dab bronzing powder over lip balm for some color and even on my eyes but lately I’ve been using a tiny bit of concealer mixed with lip gloss for a nude lip and it looks great!
Take advantage of summer’s most favorite hair trend: beachy waves. Skip the hair drier and try making your own sea salt spray for your hair (click here for Free People’s awesome concoction that I personally use). After spraying your hair pull it up into a bun and let dry. I know most women prefer a braid but I don’t like the way it leaves my thick hair. The bun gives it a looser wave and lasts longer. Tip: if you have naturally wavy hair like me then try blow drying just the front of your hair, and then apply sea salt by hand. This minimizes front-end frizz, which is the worst!
Mascara, mascara, mascara! During the summer I switch to a waterproof mascara so I can wear it all day without worrying about smudging if I am at the pool or beach. It really is a lifesaver. Tip: skip the mascara on the lower lashes. Waterproof mascaras can be tougher to remove and the skin around the eyes is the most delicate. It will give you an even more natural look if you apply enough at the top lashes.
Opt for the popular gel manicure. A bit pricier than a regular mani, but so worth it especially during the summer if your busy with kids like me. They dry instantly and stay shiny for up to two weeks.

If there’s one shoe trend that I’m happy stuck around it’s the booties (click here to see some celeb outfit inspiration)! Now I love the way they look with just abut anything BUT there’s an effortless feel when they’re worn with shorts and dresses. The key to booties with shorts and dresses is not to put too much thought into them. Keep them unfussy with flowy dresses, rolled up skinny jeans or with your favorite shorts. My favorites are the lighter colored tan pairs that help elongate the legs and give a boho-ish vibe; while the black booties give outfits some edge. There’s a ton of different options out there from fringed, studded, zippered and even buckled, but it’s the slip on ones that are the easiest to wear with everything giving you more mileage (and we all know that boots get better with every wear). Check out some of my favorite pairs under $100 and what to wear them with.
I just moved into my new house and it’s got me on a decorating kick. I’ve always been into it but ever since I downsized and moved to Florida I’ve been slacking. In the past I’ve always decorated in some sort of vintage form because I used all of the beautiful pieces I inherited from my mother in law. But right now I’m strating from scratch and I’m still debating which direction I’ll be taking the interior. I’ll probably maintain a vintage touch but I’m open to just about any ideas and because I haven’t really done anything to my house it’s like a blank canvas. I live in your basic one level florida home with wooden floors. The floor space is somewhat limited and in deperate need of light so my starting point is going to be curtains and lighting. I’m looking into DIY projects mainly to contain costs but I’m really hoping I can talk my mom into creating some of my finds or ideas. 🙂 Check out some of my favorite inspirations from pinterest below and you can find my Pinterest boards
These DIY chevron curtains are totally me! Thinking of giving them a try in the living room where for the time being I have some shabby curtains. Image via

These aren’t going to give me much light but they’re adorable to hang on the side of a mirror or for a little girls room. Image via
Kourtney is one stylish mama! This outfit is sexy, stylish and more importantly super comfy! Great to run errands, pack for a trip or even wear to the playground. Tip: not comfortable with the crop top? No problem – any striped top will do.
