For the most part New Year’s consists of something sparkly, short or sexy – all of which are just fine but this year why not try something a little unconventional? Below are 3 ideas for an outfit that’s not tight, short or even sparkly – we can leave that all up to the jewelry! 🙂
Anyone can wear a mini but it takes someone with style to rock a chic floor length maxi! Pair it with a cropped blazer for a dressy effortless feel, and metallic heels for sex appeal.
I love the idea of black and white for New Year’s, so why not try adding white heels to an all black pant suit or a sexy black off-the-shoulder sweater and leggings.
Stripes are a classic and totally unconventional for New Year’s and that’s what makes it cool! Try a striped sweater dress with black opaque tights and red heels for a dressy yet still easy-to-wear look (and it’ll never go out of style!).
I’m not a big fan of the New Year resolution. Sure I love the concept of positive change but the pressure of the clock striking midnight is too much! But I am a strong believer in gratitude, and that’s something that lasts all year long. I’ve kept a diary all through high school and now as an adult I keep a gratitude journal. I even bought each of my boys a journal to jot down things they’re grateful for but motivating them to keep up with it is definitely a challenge! I go through about four journals a year (sometimes more) and I’m always on the look out for cute one’s not only for myself but even to give as gifts to friends ( I always write a note in the journal letting them know how grateful I am that they’re in my life). It doesn’t have to be an every day thing, even once a week is enough… and that’s a change (not a resolution) that I think is easy to start and keep. Check out some of the most creative and adorable ones I’ve seen from Yesstyle.

There’s something so laid back and chic about a drawstring bucket bag. Unlike structured bags the drawstring bucket bags have a strap long enough to wear as a cross body which free up your hands making it perfect for the busy gal on the go. Seen on celebs like Miranda Kerr and Kate Bosworth but you can get yours for less at Yeswalker who are still running their BOGO until December 31 2012. Check out my faves under $100.

Last night out I went out with a few friends for some drinks and I wanted to wear something simple but chic. I decided on my new striped peplum top, skinny jeans and patent pumps but I felt like it needed a little something more so I grabbed my brightest clutch and pinned what’s actually a hair clip to my jacket. Sometimes it’s just the little things that make the outfit!
What I’m Wearing:
Striped Peplum Top – $12.99 at Marshalls
Blazer – $19.99 at Macy’s
Old Navy Rock Star Jeans c/o Old Navy (also seen here)
Sunglasses – $5 at Ross
Kourtney had the right idea when she styled her outfit with these Minnetonka boots (I’ve unfortunately seen way too many celebs pair them with extremely short cut-offs and it’s only cute if you’re 16 – and even then you’re pushing it). I love how she combined the boots with black leggings, a classic cardigan and added a pop of color with her bag. Her classic/casual/boho feel makes the boots a little dressier and gives the other pieces an effortless feel while keeping it comfy – it’s a win win!
Now this is what a stylish mom should look like!! Jessica Alba pairs whimsical star-printed jeans with a studded leather jacket and a neon satchel- SO chic, fun and really easy to wear. Get Jessica’s look for less with pieces from Kohl’s, Yesstyle & more!
Like everyone else, I too had a ton of gift returns to make and wearing comfy clothes for the long lines was a must. I decided to wear the denim leggings I found at Ross that I love (dont judge they’re super cute lol) and I threw on a pink tank and polka dot cardigan over it with a cobalt blue crossbody bag that coincidentally matched my nails. Oh and I just had to wear my new watch that meet mark sent for me to review – it’s PERFECT!
What I’m Wearing:
Jeggings $5.99 at Ross
Polka Dot Cardigan (also seen here) $10.99 at Old Navy
Tank Top (also seen here) c/o meet mark
Animal Print Flats (also seen here) $12.99 at Ross
Blue Crossbody Bag – $5 at Mandee

Crazy week but grateful I got all my shopping done and I managed to snag a few things for myself. 🙂
I can’t believe Christmas is in 6 days and I also can’t believe that I got all my shopping done in less than five days and even found a few items for myself. 🙂 I was shopping at TJ Maxx and took a quick glance at its clearance section and found this cute floral dress for only $7!! Only in FL can you wear a summer dress in December and still be hot because you threw on a jacket! Oh and yes I’m suppose to still have my arm in a sling but I refuse to wear it out because it’s hideous! lol
What I’m Wearing:
Floral Dress from T.J. Maxx
Distressed Denim Jacket from American Eagle (also seen here)
Lilac Mary Janes from Ross (also seen here)
Drawstring Bag c/o meet mark
I can’t even put into words how excited I am that my all time favorite actress Drew Barrymore is launching her very own cosmetic line called Flower! I adore everything about her and know that her line of cosmetics will be amazing. Flower will be available next month in 1,509 Walmart stores (and online).
“I think, if you really care about things, then you just naturally get involved,” Barrymore told
