Just like with all my jewellery I’m very picky about the watch I wear. It simply has to match with my outfit, so if I get a new outfit, I often have to buy a new watch to match. So I’ve probably got more experience in buying watches than most. I’ve almost got it down to a fine art; there’s a few things I do before buying.
Firstly, I’ll always look at one of those general online stores to look for inspiration and ask myself a few questions to figure out the type of watch I want. What type of watch will go with my outfit? Would a digital or analogue watch match best? Do I want a watch with a circular face or one with a square face? Do I want one with a leather strap or a metal strap? Once I have figured out what I want then I can really start looking.
I go through the site of every brand I can think of and look for the type of watch I want, as often online department stores do not have the full range. I often try Guess ladies watches as a first port of call. I try to narrow my search down to four or five to try on. I never buy a watch without trying it on first – sometimes the ones I think look best in the picture just look awful on me. If I can find a shop where they have everything I want to try on I find it is best to go there. Then I can try them on in succession and really compare them to each other to see which one you I like the best. I know if I went to five different shops to try on five different watches then by the time I get to the last one I’ll have completely forgotten what the first one looked like.
But once you have decided on the one, I never buy it there and then. There may be a better deal out there. I go back home and do some more internet research, and this time I look for the specific watch I want, to find the cheapest deal. I it is the same price everywhere, I always buy it from either the shop or the site of the brand. You can often get a better warranty if you buy it from the brand’s shop and they are generally more helpful if something goes wrong.
I think the last watch I bought was a Hublot Big Bang Aero, and it really was worth spending the time to get it right. I absolutely love it (and it really goes with my outfit hehe).
Summer is coming to an end and it is time to start putting together your favourite pieces from the hottest jewellery picks for autumn. If you want to upgrade your existing jewellery collection, look no further. Here are the top trends for the season ahead.
A new season is approaching and with it comes a sprinkling of new and exciting colour trends. As the summer blends into autumn, seasonal colours including rich browns, burnt orange, golden honey shades and neutral tones come in to play. Many designers create a fashion forecast for the season ahead and as well as these autumnal hues, the occasional pop of colour with vibrant blues and yellows will be making an appearance.
Earthy colours are set to be hot this autumn but the nature theme doesn’t stop there. The feather trend that has begun to take over will continue to be popular and we will be seeing some interesting feather designs in up and coming jewellery collections from a number of designers. Dream catchers, animals and metal leaf designs will be making an appearance and are just a few of the influences that will be channelled in this season’s hottest catwalk styles.
The latest trend to be picked up on the celebrity circuit is the tribal trend. Rihanna, Vanessa Hudgens and Kim Kardashian are all huge fans of this trend and have been spotted sporting tribal print clothing and tribal jewellery. If you want to be on trend this autumn, tribal jewellery is all the rage. Expect bracelets, necklaces and earring boasting wooden beads, enamel details and feather accents. With festival season in full swing, it is no surprise that carnival influences are back in fashion.
Nude tones never fall from the fashion radar and fleshy tones will once again see you through the season in style. Dusky rose colours and pale creams are also must have tones for your fall jewellery collection and are always popular due to their versatility.
If you want to invest in on trend jewellery that complements your budget, go online to find a few statement pieces for the autumn and winter months. You can find a wide range of costume jewellery rings and pilgrim jewellery online.

Weddings are expensive and detailed events that often ignite financial controversy among family and friends. As with any major life decision, everyone has an opinion, and most will vocally share the opinion without prompting. Many argue that weddings are one-in-a-lifetime celebrations that beg for extravagance while reasonable opponents counter that the wedding is merely the first day in a lifelong marriage. If you find yourself this season as part of a wedding party, you are probably hoping for an inexpensive and practical dress choice, no matter where you fall on this wedding continuum.
Whether you are the bride or the bridesmaid, be honest with yourself about practicality. You are not shopping for a favorite pair of jeans and a t-shirt. There is a limited amount of use you can get from a semi-formal or formal dress, but if you are searching for a bridesmaid dress that you might choose to wear again, consider fabric and cut carefully.
Nothing says bridesmaid louder than shiny satin or taffeta, so consider softer fabrics such as a matte crepe, tulle, organza, or even a light jersey. The White by Vera Wang line at David’s Bridal has 3 new bridesmaid dresses with very different cuts all in a rainbow of matte crepe. These styles would like stunning walking down the aisle or into a formal dinner.
Beyond a Sweetheart Neckline
Choosing the right dress for a group of bridesmaids is the ultimate challenge since women come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and personal image issues. Look for shorter dresses for afternoon events with deep V necklines to draw attention to beautiful legs or a curvy figure. A quick trip to the local tailor can ensure that hemlines accentuate the best features for each bridesmaid. Ruched busts, empire waists, or an asymmetrical element also flatter most body types. For example, this V Neck Chiffon Column Dress draws attention to any woman’s curves and drapes her form gracefully in light chiffon. This full-length dress is an elegant option beyond the wedding day.
In addition to fabric and cut, pragmatic shoppers should consider color. For any dress to make a fashion statement, it must be rich and beautiful. Be careful of trendy or popular colors, and choose what will look best on this group of special women who have come together to honor the bride.
It’s that time of year that again – back to school shopping! I don’t know about you but sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming without a detailed check list to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. In my case, the school provides a handy list of items needed, but I manipulate to include some of my specific needs which is why HP printer comes in handy (not only for back to school lists but also ongoing needs like my blogging and the many school projects all year long). HP understands that there are different types of customers with tons of different printing needs so they offer a wide variety of choices at various price points to help maximize value. With my hectic schedule, my HP always provides a quick, quality print out.
At the top of my list is always hand soap, antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer. We all know that kids bring home a lot more than homework from school and call me paranoid but fevers and colds are NOT welcome! I also keep it simple with pencil boxes, pens, tons of loose leaf paper, and a USB (which is now a must for middle schoolers), folders to keep the kids organized, glue sticks for projects, white-out for the older kids who are now using pens, new washable crayons and markers, tons of Ziploc bags that I use for everything from snacks to storing jewelry.
Original HP ink delivers unsurpassed quality and reliability so when customers purchase HP ink they know they will get exactly what they pay for— superior performance, value and peace of mind.

Love Mindy Kaling’s style, but the proportions are a bit off – not enough for a redo but worthy of an adjustment here and there! The denim shirt and leather skirt (which I personally think is worth the splurge) has a fabulously edgy yet casual feel, and the jacket definitely gives the overall look a touch of class and glam. BUT, the way the jacket falls above her hips simply does not flatter her figure. So I decided to use a slightly longer jacket and pair it with a pencil skirt. I know a lot of people might think that a pencil skirt doesn’t look right on everyone but with the right pieces it can actually be extremley flattering and sexy. The spring and summer of 2012 have seen a profusion of print dresses, with playful, brightly coloured and floral themes predominating. Worn with severely tailored blazers in this season’s pretty as a picture pastel colours, they can bring sunshine into the greyest day. Amongst the roses and the flamboyant tropical colours splashed across 1940s style midi dresses worn with wide patent leather belts, or the softer shades for evening, embellished with sequins and silver braid, the most popular prints are :
Floral, sometimes beautifully detailed, and sometimes exuberant and more abstract splashes of colour. Next UK have an evening maxi dress which captures the look, with a background of a deep maroon, and sprays of moss roses in pale pinks, whites and the softest greens on the foreground. Worn very simply, with a plain self-coloured or buff suede belt, the focus is on the print and the cut of the dress. The versatility of this season’s maxi dresses makes them equally suitable for informal day wear strolling in the sunshine, or worn to an evening reception with a crystal necklace to add a touch of glamour.
Animal prints – designers have added a touch of humour to many of the animal prints seen on this season’s dresses and tops. A favourite is a strapless snakeskin print dress with floating skirt, and hem dipping gracefully into a maxi length train behind. Variations on the animal theme have seen zebras galloping across the veldt on a straight cut cotton mini dress; leopard-skin T-shirts, and a tunic decorated with a pink flamingo perched on its nest amid a flurry of pastel twigs.
Butterflies – of every colour and design, they flutter in small prints across elegant jersey dresses, spread their wings in bold splashes of contrasting colour on eye-catching sun dresses, and appear to be touched with gold as they fly across an exquisite white evening dress. A favourite butterfly print dress is a semi-transparent ruffle hem mini in dark grey with a cream butterfly print worn over a jersey top and black leggings.
Prints extend to shoes and accessories, with a deliberate play on contrasting rather than matching designs. Teaming a floral clutch bag with a vivid geometric print dress, or a delicate pastel print on ballerina shoes with an animal print tunic is what the 2012 look is all about.
Jessica Alba’s floral skirt and Dr Marten boots scream 90’s! I’m not loving or hating it, but it would sure make a cute back to school outfit. Get her look for less (minus the boots I think they’re worth a splurge). Get Jessica’s look for less from Forever21, Target & more!
Two of my biggest passions in this world are fashion and a nice cold glass of Diet Coke (seriously, I am rarely seen without a hanger in one hand and a Diet Coke in the other!). Well the stars have definitely aligned because not only is Fashion Week in September my favorite time of the year, but Diet is Coke is hitting the runway to re-introducie its sleek and modern cropped logo on its can in conjunction with NYFW (the can actually looks more like a fashionable accessory than a drink). The bold look will keep the fashionistas refreshed anywhere from airports, restaurants or even on the runway! The can design first debuted as a seasonal design last fall but was brought back by popular demand. Look for them in market starting September 1. Check out the new look below and make sure to follow Diet Coke on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram (@Dietcoke) and Pinterest to stay up to date on all the upcoming fun for Fashion week.
