Celebrity Copycat: Kim Kardashian’s Look for Less!

I always think Kim Kardashian looks best when she tones it down a notch and this outfit is the perfect example.  The colors play off each other so effortlessly, especially the focal pieces like the black blazer with the grey tee and blue green necklace, and the distressed denim with tan sandals – love it!!  Tip: for warmer weather swap out jeans for a summer dress or simply use a black tank instead off the tee for an evening look.  Get Kim’s look for less from maurices, Old Navy & more!

Loving the combo of orange and gray in Audrina Patridge’s simple but sexy color-blocked outfit.  Definitely a versatile outfit: For a more reserved look, throw a blazer and a scarf on or swap out the heels for flat sandals.  And for cooler weather, try a cardigan wrapped with a thin belt and ballerina flats.  Get Audrina’s look from PacSun, DSW & more!

Spring’s Hottest White Jeans & How To Wear them

With the simple twist of the clock hand we not only lost an hour of sleep but also reminded ourselves springtime is here. So while you’re waiting for the flowers to bloom why not lighten up some of your current wardrobe pieces with a pair of sexy white jeans.  Perfect for day or night, white jeans instantly give your look a crisp, fresh feel whether they’re cropped, flared (my fave) or if you’re gutsy enough to go skinny.  Pair them with bright colored tops or layer a striped tank, floral top with a blazer or my fave a sexy off the shoulder tee.  Tip:  always keep a stain remover handy.  My favortie is the Tide on the go pen – it’s a must at all times in my bag.  Check out some of this seasons hottest white jeans below

Striped Sweater Styled Three Ways

At first glance you might think that this just another striped sweater… but it’s just the opposite!  What I love about this sweater is how the buttons down the back not only add a glamourous and expensive vibe, but it can also be modified for a sexier look by simply unlatching a few buttons.  Or, consider pairing it with a bright button down untucked and peaking out underneath for a fun 80’s preppy look.  Stripes have always been a favorite no matter what season and this is the perfect addition.  Check out my fave 3 ways to wear them below.

It’s not that I hate this outfit, but I definitely think someone as gorgeous as Tiffany Thiessen can look way better.  I decided to swap out her nude flats with a pointy black  pair and instead of her wearing black on black I used a grey blazer and a color blocked tank top.  What do you think of Tiffany’s look?

Oldie But Goodie: Psst Dry Shampoo

March 7, 2012 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

Last month I decided to try Psst Dry Shampoo an oldie but goodie and it’s absolutely amazing!!!  Because my hair is so long, thick and wavy, I tend to get a lot of questions about how I maintain it and which products I use.  One way I keep my hair under control is with tons of conditioners and serums (as mentioned here) but as you can imagine my hair gets oily in the process.  So, to soak up the excess oil, I use dry shampoo (and I’ve tested dozens of brands).
Not only does it smell great, but it also gave my hair the perfect amount of volume. A bit hard to find in drugstores but easily available online for about 7 bucks (I order three at a time!).

This was taken after I used Psst and 4 days after my last hair wash.  It absorbs the oil that’s a given so I concentrated on the ends of my hair so you can see the amazing volume Psst gives.  Tip: Use hands instead of brush to distribute the product.

My First Car Story

March 6, 2012 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

I got my first car in high school and although it wasn’t the nicest set of wheels on the road, it was trustworthy.  One day on a break from work I decided to drive over to see my boyfriend and surprise him for lunch.  He lived in a small town with one intersection and as I sat at a red light with my music blasting and my huge shades on, a car pulled up beside me with two guys in it.  The guy in the passenger seat was totally checking me out and trying to get my attention.   So, I rolled down my window, pushed down my shades and started to explain to the guy that I already had a boyfriend. Problem was, the guy in the other car WAS my boyfriend.  Yup, he was trying to hit on me, HIS GIRLFRIEND thinking I was another girl!  Suffice it say that I got a heck of a lot more mileage out of my first car than my boyfriend!

Everyone loved their first car. No matter how beat up or broken down, it was a taste of freedom and you loved it. Even though it lasted only for a brief time, that emotional connection is an experience that unites us all. Check out my custom illustrated story, you can submit one too at www.firstcarstory.com and bring your story to life with animation and music and share it with your friends.

Rock & Republic Sweaters at Kohl’s

March 4, 2012 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

I have a love for all things loose, flowing and comfy with a modern feel… especially when it comes to sweaters!  Last week I had the amazing opportunity to shoot a Kohl’s Spring trends video (more on that later) and although I was selected to wear the tropical look, I had the chance to take a sneak peek at Rock Republic’s new line and the sweaters were fabulous!   The details were on point; the fabrics were incredibly soft and everything looked like it would cost double the price tag. Tip: want to show off your curves?  Belt it!  All of my picks below look adorable belted.  Check out some of my faves below and watch some clips from their star-studded launch at NY Fashion Week.

Rock & Republic Dip-Dye Cardigan – $45.  The picture does this cardigan no justice.  It’s so pretty in an edgy shabby chic sorta way.

Rock & Republic Distressed Sweater – $51. Buy up a size; looks so cute as an off the shoulder which one of the bloggers wore at the shoot).

Rock and Republic Cutout Cardigan – $45 Wrap a belt around the waist and you’re good to go with just about any bottom.
