What Does Your Handbag Say About You?

January 16, 2012 by

A handbag does so much more than just amplify your outfit; it’s an extension of your personality. That’s why I concentrate less on brand names and cost and pay more attention to shape, detail and overall vibe.  For example I LOVE the unstructured style of hobo bags and choose ones that have a slightly worn look and distinct details. What does this say about me? Well, I’m a hippie at heart and I prefer to let my mood dictate the overall outfit  and accessory selection (and yes, I’m also a little sloppy!).  Sure, handbags are a marquee accessory and the tendency to pick one that’s “in” or that matches the majority of your outfits is hard to deny. But sometimes the bag chooses you, and when it does it’s magic!  Check out some of my all time fave hobos below and tell me…what does your bag say about you?

Hana Flat Iron Review

January 16, 2012 by

There are a ton of things I don’t look forward to doing, and fixing my long, thick and wavy hair on a humid Florida day is one of them! For the most part I let my hair naturally coil and call it my “beachy look” because it takes so long to straighten. So when Missiko offered me the chance to review one of its best selling flat irons I jumped at the chance (ironically I already use and swear by their Shine Shield Serum) One word: WOW! Not only did it straighten my hair, which is no easy task, but it was quick and left my hair silky and shiny.  With professional features like damp-to-dry styling, floating plates that self adjust to different textures and adjustable temperature, the Hana Professional hair straightener is engineered to deliver luxury at a down to earth price. I also loved the fact that the curved plates are also great for curling so I decided to test that out as well. From the picture I took of myself, I first straightened my hair and then curled the ends of my hair.  What normally takes me  an hour and a half with a flat iron and curling iron only took me about 45 minutes with the Missiko (not including the blow drying time). For the price you can’t find a better flat iron out there. period!

Disclosure: I received no monetary compensation. Missiko.com provided me with the Hana Flat iron to review.

Reese Witherspoon’s Golden Globe Look for Less!

The Golden Globe debate is on!  From Jessica Alba and Sofia Vergara to Chalize Theron, it was a night of glitz and glamour…BUT Reese Witherspoon was by far my fave!  Her laid back vibe, sun kissed hair and natural glow made her a standout in a vast field of Hollywood beauties vying for attention.  The look was pure perfection against her strapless Zac posen red gown and Fred Leighton bangles.  A great palette for Valentine’s day and easy to recreate!  Check out some inspired looks below that’ll have you looking red carpet ready in no time!  Who was your red carpet fave?

If you want to closely replicate Reese’s formal look, this strapless dress by Launfry will do the trick!

This red cut-out dress has it all (causally sexy, simple and comfy) making it perfect for evening or day.  Pair it with a cropped cardigan or even a denim jacket during the day and take it off at night.

I love me a long sleeve dress and this Calvin Klein v-neck dress is so versatile and timeless (at $69.99 you can’t go wrong!)

Add some glam to any outift with this incredibly detailed rhinestone bracelet from Fantasyjewelerybox.com.

Pair these nude booties with your red dress for a little edge!

For an understated makeup look like Reese, go with Bare Minerals.  I use it every day and it’s so easy to recreate a natural look like Reese’s.

My Pippa Middleton Look for Less!

Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

Funny how things come full circle!  I bought this mimi chica dress from Marshalls a few weeks ago and although I initially thought it was a little boring, the colors and length resembled a Pippa Middleton Copycat post I did a few months ago.   Since I get quite a few requests for outfit post I thought this one would be perfect since I had all of the other pieces as well.  Here’s the breakdown: dress from Marshall’s, $14.99; cardigan at Ross, $9.99; belt from Ross, $10; boots by Madden Girl and the bag I bought last year at Aldos for $30, sunglasses by Pan Oceanic Group (seen here), bangles are also from last year only $10 at Target.
