In friendship and support of those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, we invite you to Sanrio’s Day of Donation!

On Thursday, March 31, 2011, Sanrio.com and participating Sanrio Boutique Stores will donate 100% of net proceeds to American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief efforts.

Go here  to shop online or here to find a participating Sanrio Boutique Store near you. The Day of Donation takes place during store hours at participating Sanrio Boutique Stores and 12am PST – 11pm PST at Sanrio.com

A Little Boho Goes A long Way

March 30, 2011 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

While the boho look is nothing new, it has experienced a resurgence in popularity recently with the help of some of today’s hottest celebrities (Nicole Richie, Drew Barrymore and Sienna Miller just to name a few).  Best of all, there’s no need to be a size 2 to get the boho vibe…something I know from personal experience!   Check out some of my tips on how to incoroporate a little boho into your Spring wardrobe with pieces from one of my favorite plus size fashion stores, Simply Be.

While the boho trend can be a tricky style to nail because it straddles the messy and overly sloppy look, the key is moderation.  There’s no need to wear it from head to toe (and for that matter there’s no need to wear any trend from head to toe). Below are a few tips:

A favorite way to add a little boho to your everyday look is a big, slouchy hobo bag There are a variety of hobo bags to choose from without breaking the bank.

Slouch Bag – $45

Scarves provide a simple and bold way to give an outfit that unstructured yet classy vibe.  There are a ton of lightweight scarves that are perfect for the warmer weather.

Scarf – $24

A maxi dress is an excellent and comfy option to get the boho look – particularly when paired with a blazer or leather jacket. The dress provides the boho part, and the jacket pulls it all together.

Maxi Dress – $73

Jewelry is the easiest and most fool proof way to add a little boho to your style.  Whether it’s long beaded chains, bangles or a pair of chandelier earrings you can’t go wrong.  Pair them with a white shirt to the office or with a tee during the day.

Bangles – $24

When it comes to shoes, the possibilities are endless.  A pair of slouchy boots, wedge heels, or braided sandals immediately come to mind.

Peep Toe Bootie – $57

So, whether your style is classic, modern, preppy or just straight up trendy, why not add a little boho to your look?

Love, love love the Sanuk Shorty. I own the trendy light blue style and wear them with a pair of rolled jeans and a tank, but they come in a rainbow of colors and can be worn with shorts, skirts and even dresses.  Extremely adorable and super comfy, Sanuk Footwear offers a variety of styles that embrace the surfer mentality of “riding a wave.”  Celebrity fans include Hallen Barry, Brad Pitt, Ellen Degeneres, Zac Effron, Matthew McConaughey and Julianna Hough.  Check out some of my faves below:

Shorty – $52

Holy Moly – $50

Rasta Dreamtime – $38

UPDATE: Bare Escentual’s Pure Transformation Night Treatment Giveaway!

Update: The winner of the Pure Transformation Night Treatment is Kari and Alyssa!  Congratulations Kari and Alyssa and a big thank you to all who participated!

Already a devout fan of Bare Escentual’s powder foundation (I’m prone to acne and this is the only product I use), I was recently invited to try their latest invention: The new Bareminerals Skincare line powered by their proprietary Rareminerals Activesoil Complex.  This powerful ingredient, only available from Bareminerals, contains a blend of macro and micro minerals and is clinically proven to deliver faster cell turnover and noticeably smaller pores.  Remarkably, the Rareminerals Activesoil Complex has three times the antioxidant capacity of blueberries.  I personally used the Pure transformation Night Treatment and can honestly say that in a couple of days my pores were visibly smaller and my skin smoother and more vibrant.

Find out yourself!  Bare Escentuals is offering two lucky Fashiongrail readers their Pure Transformation Night Treatment for free.  Simply “like” Bare Escentuals on Facebook and leave a comment on Fashiongrail telling us why you could use this product as part of your nightly facial routine (dull skin, huge pores, etc.).  Giveaway runs from Monday, March 28 to Friday, April 1.  Good luck!

Celebrity Copycat: Kate Middleton’s Look for Less!

There has been a lot of excitement and stir regarding Princess-to-be, Kate Middleton, and her wedding dress for her upcoming wedding to Prince William.  Will she go for the fairy tale ball gown look, as Princess Diana did?  Or will she stay modern with ruffles and saches?  It could go either way, but my guess is that she’s sticking to her personal style.  Kate tends to dress conservatively, with a flare of sexiness.  There’s been word that she may choose Vera Wang. the queen of bridal and elegant dresses, to design her wedding gown.  And here we have the same designer(for less!) with her line for Priscilla of Boston.  Known for their designer wedding dresses, Priscilla of Boston also carries gorgeous gowns similar to the one Kate here has on.  Paired with matching champagne pumps and black ruffle clutch, this style emulates Kate’s simple yet chic style.  What are your thoughts?

Friday Fave: L’Occitane

March 25, 2011 by
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds

I’m pretty picky about skincare products and use a select few on a daily basis.  One of them is L’Occitane.  My personal faves are the Shea hand and foot butter, Almond Delight Shape and the L’Occitane Eau de Toilette.  Their products all have that luxurious indulgent feel without being way to over priced.  In fact, their bestselling Shea Butter Hand Creme has attained cult status, selling rate of one tube every ten seconds globally.  Halle Berry, Kate Wineslet and Anne Hathaway are among the brand’s celebrity fans.

Inspired by natural ingredients, including almond, lavender, verbena and cherry blossom.  L’Occitane, skincare and fragrance collections are well respected in the beauty industry for being socially responsible (using sustainable materials and fairtrade ingredients).  Not only is Braille labeling featured on many of the brand’s products, but The L’Occitane Foundation also supports visually impaired people, preserving the natural environment and fighting for women’s right’s globally. www.Loccitane.com
