A guest post by Stylist Manifesto? Yes!:

Without a doubt, the summer has an amazing array of clothing options. For you ladies, it’s a time of breezy dresses, skirts, shorts and tops where the sleeves are totally optional. Equally important for you all is the ability to seamlessly, and fashionably, go from the professional setting to the casual one. For this entry, we’ll go ahead and explore some style options that can perform office duty as well as after hours fun! Ready? Let’s begin. Oh, and since this post is basically written exclusively for fashiongrail.com, we’re gonna pull everything from yesstyle.com

Monday

If you’re new to me, just know that I LOVE the pencil skirt on you ladies. It’s elegant, timeless, and always fashionable. This time, we’re taking the traditional pencil skirt silhouette, yet replacing the usual heavier material for a light and airy linen. To facilitate the transition from the office to girls night out or that hot date, pair this with a contrasting premium tee like the model does here. It’s more casual and is a perfect nod to your disdain for having to end that spectacular weekend you just had.

$55 for the skirt @yesstyle.com

$15 for a similar tee @yesstyle.com

$58 for modest wedge sandals that go beautifully with this ensemble also @yesstyle.com

Tuesday

Fun and fashionable. This polka dot printed dress is an easy way to stay within the boundaries of the corporate dress code without being stuffy. Throw on some bangin accessories (maybe a bit of boho?) to keep on truckin’ through the second day of the week. The playfulness of the dress and accessories keep you just as cute whether at work or at play.

$78 for the dress @yesstyle.com

$725 for white gold and diamond necklace @yesstyle.com

$195 for pearl and white gold earrings @yesstyle.com

I’ll leave the bracelet up to you but make sure it’s compatible with the other jewelry pieces. Think jackie-o on this one, ok?

With a thicker, flashier belt, go with equally flashy shoes. That’s why I chose these ankle-tie sandals from yesstyle.com. And at $90, they’re not budget breakers.

Wednesday

On wednesday, when your female coworkers are wearing that tired, mid-week gear, you’re coming fresh and beautiful to the mid-week meeting in this absolutely stunning trench inspired dress. It’s pricey, but the silk, cotton, linen blend keeps you from overheating while inspiring fond thoughts of the fall season that’s fast approaching. Pair with minimal earrings and a subtle bracelet. (perhaps drops or hoops?). Go with something other than sandals (louboutin is always appropriate), like a nice pump or comparable footwear choice. And with the neckline of this particular dress, leave out the necklace. The entire vibe of the dress screams ‘drinks with the girls downtown’ so it’s an excellent choice for going out after work without stopping at home to change!

$435 (yeah a bit higher, told ya!) @yesstyle.com

The accessories and footwear are up to you. Keep it minimal and modern so as to match the dress.

Thursday

Almost the weekend but not quite, thursday kind of sucks most weeks. Why? Because the weekend is so close you can taste it, you’re over the mid-week hump, yet it’s still not friday therefore the sentence is still be served. However, you’re meeting with the hubby (at least my wife does) for coffee at starbucks and you’re going out with him later for dinner so you still need to be your gorgeous self! Fear not mami, this sleeveless, belted shirtdress is perfectly pretty and with the reintroduction of monday’s linen, a cool choice for the heatwave we’re currently in. And since it’s available in both black and oatmeal, you don’t have to be in wardrobe reruns the following week. My suggestion for jewelry and footwear? Go bold!

$90 for the dress @yesstyle.com

Friday

Casual friday is quite possibly the greatest invention of the corporate era! Now you get to show off that street style you’ll be rocking this weekend. Start off with the off-the-shoulder tee above and pair with a wide belt to match the brown in the top. You can really go with light or dark denim for this one and no, your purse does not have to match your belt. For the feet, sandals, heels, tenis, whatever! As long as it’s compatible with the rest of your look, go for it! Hats are a bonus too. Jewelry? The bigger the better. Chunky, geometric, flashy, you name it! Bold is boss! I included the cardigan below as a bonus because alot of the time the A/C is kept ice cold in the office.

$20 for the tee @yesstyle.com

$20 for the cardigan @yesstyle.com

Ok, since I’ve literally laid out your entire week, there should be no reason for you ladies to look like angela from The Office. Each day is just one more opportunity for you to demonstrate to everyone else that the workplace is your personal runway, no matter the workload. Furthermore, you don’t even need to stop by la casa pa’ cambiar before meeting for dinner or drinks! Business can be beautiful.

Celebrity Redo: Kim Kardashian

It’s not that I don’t like Kim’s outfit but I do think the pieces are bit off. The vest is a bit short and the belt on the shirt just doesn’t flatter her fabulous curvy body. So, I replaced the vest with one that falls at the hips and ties at the waist to help elongate the torso and show off her tiny waist. What do you think of Kim’s outfit?

Summer Lovin’

A guest post by Stylist Manifesto! Sweet!

One of the most irritating parts about summer is the lack of fashion sense. Why on earth would a dude want to live in flip-flops, tank tops, and cargo shorts for the entire season? There are so many alternatives that are heads and shoulders above the ‘beach bum’ aesthetic. Let’s explore how an adult, stylish man can look great this summer in something other than the same crap seen on us year after year.

Top:

Bright. Blue. Boss. This plaid, tailored short sleeve button-down is a perfect choice for the warmer weather. It’s also a much cooler alternative to traditional long sleeves. $53 @ 80’s purple.

If you’re going to rock the tee, make it fitted and vintage. The distress in the tee shows that you’re a true fan that sticks it out rain or shine and belies your style savvy at the same time. $38 @ 80’s purple.

The black tee is a tricky thing to pull off. Faded is a ****in’ fail. Why not try charcoal first instead? It’s dark yet resists fading. And here’s a tip when you’re ready to go black (and thus never go back), wash the garment inside-out, whether denim, button-down, tee, or whatever else. This preserves the dark color. This japanese inspired example by obey is $22.00 @ 80’s purple.

Instead of the normal pocketed oxford, this dual-pocket example is much less formal while retaining the button-down aesthetic. $49 @ 80’s purple.

Gray isn’t gloomy. This fitted button-down brings a Cary Grant cool to your summer wardrobe. Combine with indigo denim, similarly dark shorts, or slacks and finish the look off with a modern thin tie. $77 @ 80’s purple.

Bottom:

These denim shorts are unique because of the frayed edges. They help compliment anything vintage as well as add an edge to anything more formal (maybe one of those button-downs). $38 @ 80’s purple.

Never be afraid of color. These shorts, vintage tee, canvas hi-tops. Look complete. Obey comes in just above the knee for just $43 @ 80’s purple.

For the times when shorts are inappropriate (weather, social occasion, etc.), throw on some fitted chinos. These are gray instead of the usual khaki because we make our mark around here. $64 @ 80’s purple. Oh, and remember, socks are optional if the shoes don’t have a lining (note the model).

Footwear:

If you haven’t noticed, me and canvas have become quite an item. An affair has definitely bloomed. Pro-Keds is on fuego like san diego with these beautiful kicks in chili pepper red. Use for that ‘solar flare’ that your outfit needs. $35 @ karmaloop.com. Oh, and they’re 20 % less with my repcode: ‘fashionforward’!

Low tops are no less fashionable by any means. These classic vans will go perfectly with any of the above examples and give a subtle nod to your skater side. $42 @ karmaloop (and yes the 20% comes off these scuba blue beauties too).

Supra really came correct this season. Their ultra popular skytop has been done up in canvas and is fresh out of the oven just in time for summer. But, despite the canvas outer, they retain the supra foam and padding so, definitely are to be worn with calcetines. $96 @ karmaloop (you don’t have to guess, you get the discount on these too!).

Italy meets america with Gourmet. I’ve written about these before but the Uno’s just beg to be worn without socks. I’d say shorts with these or, if going with pants, make them not to long so as to show off the ankle windows when seated at that outdoor cafe with your baby. $44.95 @ karmaloop.

Accessories/Misc:

Huge, gold and belligerent. The Nixon diver is mad waterproof and has a nuclear glow in the summer sun. It’s just good to show off once and a while. $448 @ watchismo.

Very simple and perfect for any understated look, this tsovet timepiece is equally at home at the summer wedding and on the ducatti cruising rush street with your gal wearing your helmet. $395 @ 80’s purple.

The Nixon Time Teller is pure stripped down functionality. With so many finishes ranging from plastic to canvas to metal, it’s sure to please and pair with anything in your closet. From $60 @ nixonnow.com

Thin and modern, this orange, boldly checked tie is a nice splash of color for your muted shirt, whether charcoal or linen. $72 @ 80’s purple.

Charcoal and stylish. Slim and sophisticated. Bond comes to your closet in the form of this offering by 3sixteen. $72 @ 80’s purple.

Slim is in, what can I say? Sky blue always makes me happy. Only $16.20 @ 80’s purple!

The fedora is always in vogue and the metallic embellishment on the side of this one by goorin bros makes is fun and youthful while keeping things adult and civilized. $60 @ 80’s purple.

Absolutely no guy on the planet should be caught in cargos, flip-flops, and tank tops this summer and this post just gave all of us PLENTY of reasons not to. Ditch the flip-flops for canvas, the cargos for indigo denim shorts, and the tank top for a vintage tee or short-sleeve button down. If you’re truly a grown man, make sure you look the part at all times.
